Hádáme se, nesnášíme se, jsme zlí a oškliví. Máme v sobě vztek a touhu ublížit druhému. Stačí přece tak málo, jedovatá slina, pár hrubých slov. Přemýšlím o tom a dívám se, jak do pece zajíždí pomalu další tělo. Před smrtí jsme si všichni rovni, jen někteří hoří jasnějším plamenem. Nakonec nás čeká jenom temnota. Je třeba se připravit. Dnes nás čeká dlouhý, smutný, surový, krvavý rituál. Poslouchám poslední album španělských doom death metalistů FAMISHGOD a přemýšlím nad posledními věcmi člověka.

Kdo jsme a kam kráčíme? Potkávám už dlouho jenom stíny. Mocné nástupy, chorobný vokál, beznaděj a nekonečný chlad. Jsou kapely, které umí vytvořit opravdu pochmurnou a ošklivou atmosféru. Španělé patří mezi ně. Zahalen v pavučinách otevírám dveře na onen svět. Ploužím se kolem starých hrobů a čtu si jména na náhrobcích. Tak tady jednou skončím?  Přidávám hlasitost a pozoruji krkavce na kamenné zdi. Do země zajíždí další rakev.


Kdo mě znáte, tak víte, že u hudby oceňuji hlavně uvěřitelnost, schopnost muzikantů mě připoutat k reproduktorům. Důležitá je pro mě temná energie, přenesené emoce. Od novinky "Rotting Ceremony" se nemůžu pořád odlepit. Užívám si toulky záhrobím, rád nahlížím na onen svět. Do kostí se mi vkrádá chlad. Muzika je zde ovlivněná třeba takovými INCANTATION, GRAVE MIASMA, DISEMBOWELMENT, INVERLOCH, WINTER, NECROS CHRISTOS, AHAB, TIAMAT, MYTHIC a dalšími, kteří dokáží svojí hudbou vyjádřit atmosféru studených katakomb. Album se kolem mě nejdřív plazilo jako jedovatý had, kroutilo se kolem mých nohou, aby mě postupně uhranulo a uštklo. Opravdu hodně se mi líbí zvuk (Javi Bastard Moontower Studios), ze kterého mě mrazí v zádech. Otevírám další rakev a nacházím jen samé ošklivé vzpomínky. Říká se, že zlým lidem zůstane po smrti ve tváří děsivý výraz. Nikdy nenaleznou klid. "Rotting Ceremony" je také neklidným, těkavým, těžkým, syrovým albem. Ozvěnou ze záhrobí, šepotem nemrtvých, okultní seancí pro vyvolávání černých duší. Smrt je zase jednou hodně blízko. Death doom metal temný jako řeka zkažené krve!

We argue, we hate each other, we are evil and ugly. We have anger and a desire to hurt others. Enough is enough, poisonous saliva, a few harsh words. I think about it and watch another body slowly enter the furnace. We are all equal before death, only some burning with a brighter flame. In the end, only darkness awaits us. You need to prepare. Today we have a long, sad, raw, bloody ritual. I listen to the latest album of Spanish doom death metalists FAMISHGOD and think about the last things of man.

Who are we and where are we walking? I've only met shadows for a long time. Powerful onset, sick vocals, hopelessness and endless cold. There are bands that can create a really gloomy and ugly atmosphere. The Spaniards are among them. Shrouded in cobwebs, I open the door to the afterlife. I crawl around the old graves and read the names on the tombstones. So, will I end up here one day? I turn up the volume and watch the ravens on the stone wall. Another coffin enters the ground.


If you know me, you know that I especially appreciate the credibility of the music, the ability of the musicians to tie me to the speakers. The important thing for me is dark energy, transmitted emotions. I still can't get away from the new "Rotting Ceremony". I enjoy wandering the grave, I like to look at the other world. Cold is creeping into my bones. The music here is influenced by such INCANTATION, GRAVE MIASMA, DISEMBOWELMENT, INVERLOCH, WINTER, NECROS CHRISTOS, AHAB, TIAMAT, MYTHIC and others who can express the atmosphere of cold catacombs with their music. At first, the album crawled around me like a venomous snake, curling around my legs to gradually charm and bite me. I really like the sound (Javi Bastard Moontower Studios), which freezes my back. I open another casket and find only ugly memories. It is said that a terrible expression will remain on the faces of evil people after death. They will never find peace. "Rotting Ceremony" is also a restless, volatile, heavy, raw album. An echo from the grave, a whisper of the undead, an occult session to summon black souls. Death is once again very close. Death doom metal dark as a river of rotten blood!

Vždycky sis myslel, že Satan je postava s krásnou tváří, jedovatým jazykem a schopností spálit tě na popel. Je ale jen výplodem vyděšených mozků. Krutou pravdou je, že jsme jenom druhem, odsouzeným k zániku. Kdysi nás tu zanechali jako potravu vetřelci z vesmíru. Divná představa, co? Máme o sobě vždy velké mínění, jsme pyšní a myslíme si, že jsme páni tvorstva. A přitom nás chovají na maso.

Vyrostl jsem na klasickém sci-fi a když jsem si přečetl, že američtí death metalisté INOCULATION ve své hudbě také přísahají na temnotu vesmíru, musel jsem si je ihned zkusit poslechnout. Musím přiznat, že již při prvních setkáních jsem si jejich ošklivou a smradlavou hudbu neskutečně užíval. 

 

"Celestial Putridity" rozhodně není deskou, kterou byste měli poslouchat povrchně. Mám v sobě obsaženo několik vrstev složených z temnoty a energie. Riffy jsou zajímavé, zvuk také, obal zaujme, jako celek je album návykové. Musí vám ale proniknout do krve. U mě osobně se to dělo postupně, při každém novém setkání jsem objevoval nové a nové motivy.  INOCULATION jsou svým způsobem originální nebo alespoň jejich přístup. Setkáme se zde s lehkou inspirací od MORBID ANGEL, NOCTURNUS, ale i se spoustou techničtějších a progresivnějších momentů. Přiznám se, že přesně takto si představuji muziku, která bude znít všude kolem, až začne apokalypsa. Lidé už stejně jako druh dávno vyčerpali svůj potenciál. Líbí se mi i atmosféra songů, je v nich zakódována tma, chlad, nebál bych se napsat i kousky okultních nálad. Navíc všechno smrdí sírou. Zpočátku vám možná přijde "Celestial Putridity" trošku komplikovanější, ale zase má delší trvanlivost. Alespoň takto jsem novinku vnímal já. Temná death metalová vize, která vám vyrve srdce z těla!

You always thought Satan was a figure with a beautiful face, a poisonous tongue, and the ability to burn you to ashes. But it's just a product of frightened brains. The harsh truth is that we are only a species doomed to extinction. Once upon a time, aliens from space left us here for food. Strange idea, huh? We always have a great opinion of ourselves, we are proud and we think that we are masters of creation. And yet they raise us for meat.

I grew up in classic sci-fi and when I read that the American death metalists INOCULATION also swear by the darkness of the universe in their music, I had to try to listen to them immediately. I have to admit that already during the first meetings I really enjoyed their ugly and stinky music.


"Celestial Putridity" is definitely not a record you should listen to superficially. I have several layers composed of darkness and energy. The riffs are interesting, the sound as well, the cover catches the eye, as a whole the album is addictive. But it must seep into your blood. For me personally, it happened gradually, with each new meeting I discovered new and new motives. INOCULATION are in a way original or at least their approach. Here we will find light inspiration from MORBID ANGEL, NOCTURNUS, but also a lot of more technical and progressive moments. I admit that this is exactly how I imagine music that will sound all around when the apocalypse begins. Humans, like species, have long since exhausted their potential. I also like the atmosphere of the songs, they encode darkness, cold, I would not be afraid to write even pieces of occult moods. Plus, everything stinks of sulfur. At first you may find "Celestial Putridity" a little more complicated, but again it has a longer shelf life. At least that's how I perceived the novelty. A dark death metal vision that will rip your heart out of your body!

Pokaždé, když najdu nějakou novou kostru, přemýšlím, jaký byl její život, když měla kolem sebe ještě maso. Jak si zemřela? Bolelo to hodně? Jsi teď na druhé straně? Zajímavé také bývají předměty, se kterými si přejí být lidé pohřbeni. Dnešní rakev je ze starého poctivého dřeva. Mrtvý má sepnuté ruce na prsou a drží v nich kost s nápisem ENDSEEKER na boku. Ihned mi přeběhl mráz po zádech. Tuhle kapelu mám opravdu rád. Je pro mě zosobněním death metalu, který mi koluje v žilách.

Ostré riffy, masivní zvuk, maso je odsekáváno s elegancí a citem pro věc. Pokud vaše kroky často směřují ve smrtícím kovu na sever, tak budete spokojeni. Morbidní melodie, hlas nasáklý chorobami. Hroby se otvírají, zombie lezou z děr. Jednou takhle najdu i sám sebe, pohřbeného zaživa.


"Mount Carcass" je ozvěnou ze stejných katakomb, ze kterých vzešly kapely jako BLOOTBATH, AT THE GATES, DISMEMBER, ENTOMBED. Kusem k dokonalosti vybroušené hudby, která musí dělat dobře každému, kdo rád a často tráví svůj čas na metalových hřbitovech. Němci umí nejen skládat, ale také se jim povedlo do songů propašovat uvěřitelnost, ryzost, opravdovost. Kosti jsou lámány tlakem, temná a chladná atmosféra by se dala krájet. Nezapomíná se ani na melodie, které se vám zadřou doslova pod kůži. Na hromadě z lebek stojí kapela jistě a pevně. Připomíná staré death metalové psy, zároveň si zachovávají mladistvé nadšení z muziky jako takové. Smrt je při poslechu hodně blízko, ohledávání mrtvol probíhá se samozřejmostí, se zkušenostmi starých válečníků. Síla, temnota, chlad, tlak a nekonečná nicota. Hluboko pod zemí, v těch nejošklivějších koutech, tam musela deska vznikat. Na zdech visí těla prokletých. Některá ještě trošku žijí. Nemohou být puštěna na druhou stranu. K nám, do záhrobí, kde se hraje klasický švédský death metal. ENDSEEKER vystoupili z krvavé mlhy a roztrhali mě na kusy! Deska, která připomíná dotek zmrzlé mrtvoly! Skvěle!

It is for me the personification of death metal, which circulates in my veins.

Sharp riffs, massive sound, the meat is cut off with elegance and a feeling for the cause. If your steps often point north in the death metal, you will be satisfied. Morbid melody, voice soaked in disease. Graves open, zombies climb out of holes. One day I will find myself buried alive.


"Mount Carcass" is an echo of the same catacombs from which bands such as BLOOTBATH, AT THE GATES, DISMEMBER, ENTOMBED emerged. A piece to the perfection of cut music, which must do well to anyone who likes and often spends their time in metal cemeteries. The Germans can not only compose, but they also managed to smuggle credibility, purity, authenticity into the songs. The bones are broken by pressure, the dark and cold atmosphere. They don't forget the melodies, which literally get stuck under your skin. The band stands firmly on the pile of skulls. It resembles old death metal dogs, while retaining its youthful enthusiasm for music as such. Death is very close when listening, the search for corpses is a matter of course, with the experience of old warriors. Power, darkness, coldness, pressure and infinite nothingness. Deep underground, in the ugliest corners, the album must have been made there. The bodies of the cursed hang on the walls. Some are still alive. They cannot be released to the other side. To us, to the graveyard, where classic Swedish death metal is played. ENDSEEKER came out of the bloody mist and tore me to pieces! An album that resembles the touch of a frozen corpse! Great!

Vidím nad sebou kata, jak napřahuje znovu obrovské kladivo. Každý úder mi působí neskutečnou bolest. Prý jsem se protivil bohu, rouhal se, šířil temné modlitby. Přeražené nohy, rozlámaná žebra. Jsem připoután ke kolu a dav jásá. Vždycky toužil po krvi. Satana jsem potkal osobně několikrát ve válce, v podzemí pod našim městem, ale i mezi vznešenými. Boha jsem nikdy neviděl a stále pochybuji o jeho existenci. Přece kdyby existoval, nedopustil by tolik zlého. Poslední rána do lebky je mým vysvobozením z ošklivého světa.

Mými průvodci v záhrobí jsou tentokrát španělští MASS BURIAL. Temná death metalová kapela, kterou sleduji od jejich počátků (odkazy na rozhovor i recenze dole pod článkem). Dokáží perfektně svojí hudbou znázornit prašivé katakomby, ve kterých jsou pochováni všichni prokletí. 


Jedinou pravou vírou je nakonec vždy jen morbidní, nefalšovaný death metal. MASS BURIAL to moc dobře vědí a letos nám předhazují smradlavý syrový kus zahnívajícího masa. Stále hrají ve stylu třeba takových DISMEMBER, NIHILIST, ENTRAILS, GRAVE, EVOCATION. Letos mi ale připadá novinka chladnější, naštvanější (ke švédským a finským vlivům se přidaly i ty z americké školy). Jedná se přesně o ten druh alba, které si několikrát pustíte a náhle se opravdu ocitnete v dobách inkvizice, budete pohřbeni zaživa, mučeni za své názory. Ne že by se toho tolik na světě od té doby změnilo, ale smrt je stále jenom jedna. V podání Španělů krutá, ošklivá, syrová. Přišla k nám z toho nejhlubšího podzemí. "Soulless Legions" je nahrávkou, která má opět parádní prašivý zvuk, démonický obal, ale hlavně spoustu skvělých nápadů, které musí ocenit každý poctivý fanoušek starého smrtícího kovu. Španělé jej totiž hrají jako všichni, kdo byli kdysi prokleti. Koluje jim v žilách, je jejich součástí, zkaženou krví. MASS BURIAL ukovali novou desku z té nejkvalitnější oceli! Zničující death metal, který vám zpřeráží všechny kosti v těle! Skvěle!

I see a hangman over me pulling a huge hammer again. Every blow causes me unbelievable pain. It is said that I opposed God, blasphemed, spread dark prayers. Broken legs, broken ribs. I'm strapped to a wheel and the crowd is happy. He always longed for blood. I have met Satan personally several times in the war, underground in our city, but also among the noble ones. I have never seen God and I still doubt his existence. After all, if he existed, he would not do so much harm. The last blow to the skull is my deliverance from the ugly world.

My guides in the graveyard this time are the Spanish MASS BURIAL. A dark death metal band that I have been watching since their beginnings (links to the interview and reviews below the article). They can perfectly depict dusty catacombs with their music, where all the cursed are buried.


In the end, the only true belief is always morbid, unadulterated death metal. MASS BURIAL know this very well and this year they are throwing us a stinky raw piece of rotting meat. They still play in the style of such DISMEMBER, NIHILIST, ENTRAILS, GRAVE, EVOCATION. This year, however, the new album seems colder, more angry to me (Swedish and Finnish influences were joined by those from the American school). This is exactly the kind of album that you play several times and suddenly you really find yourself in the days of the Inquisition, you will be buried alive, tortured for your opinions. Not that much has changed in the world since then, but there is still only one death. Served by the Spaniards cruel, ugly, raw. She came to us from the deepest underground. "Soulless Legions" is a record that again has a great dusty sound, a demonic cover, but above all a lot of great ideas that must be appreciated by every honest fan of old death metal. The Spaniards play it like everyone who was once cursed. It circulates in their veins, it is part of them, corrupted by blood. MASS BURIAL have forged a new album from the highest quality steel! Destructive death metal that breaks all the bones in your body! Great!

Nohy máš rozedrané do krve. Každý krok je pro tebe neskutečné utrpení. Kdysi dávno, to jsi byl ještě živý, jsi proklel Boha. Teď, po smrti, se ti dostalo odměny. Bičují tě, pálí rozžhaveným železem, trápí hladem, smějí se tvému utrpení. Jedno ti ale zůstalo. Poslední naděje, poslední kousek temnoty, kterou sis uchoval. V noci nemůžeš ve své cele spát a tak posloucháš hudbu. Po těle máš spoustu zanícených ran, které tepou a žhnou. Jako pravý surový death metal.

CRUMMER jsou kapela ze Španělska, která má za sebou dva singly a letošní prvotinu. Vložil jsem ji do přehrávače a stejně jako hrdina z úvodu recenze, se ocitl několik metrů pod zemí, v pekelném království smrti. Jsme dávno nemrtví. Trpíme za všechny hříchy. Dá se to ale vydržet. Pořád můžeme poslouchat podobné skvělé desky jako "Deathwards".


CRUMMER mají v perexu o své kapele uvedeno, že jsou death metalovými fanoušky, kteří hrají pro death metalové fanoušky. Musím tohle heslo podepsat vlastní krví. Z nahrávky je opravdu cítit na sto metrů odhodlání, poctivost, je znát, že Španělé nahrávali nejen rozumem, ale i srdcem. Pro mě osobně je tohle hrozně důležitá věc. Opravdoví příznivci death metalu mi jistě potvrdí. "Deathwards" je nahrávkou, která se odehrává v rytmu starých GRAVE, OBITUARY, MORGOTH, ASPHYX, PESTILENCE, MASSACRE, ENTOMBED, DISMEMBER, BOLT THROWER. Album je opatřeno krásným, monumentálním obalem, ledově temným zvukem, u kterého praskají kosti, ale hlavně spoustou nápadů, které udělají dobře každému, kdo si formoval svůj názor na hudbu v devadesátých letech minulého století. CRUMMER k nám přišli z hlubokého španělského podsvětí. Vypadá to, že byli kdysi prokleti. Povedlo se jim utéct ze země nemrtvých, aby šířili jedinou pravou víru - death metal! "Deathwards" vás přikove ke zdi. Ve staré studené kryptě. Budete navěky uvrženi do temnoty. Propadnete peklu. Stejně jako já, když jsem tenhle kus poctivé hrobnické práce poslouchal. Ryzí death metal staré školy, který vás stáhne do hlubin nicoty! Skvěle!

Your feet are torn to blood. Every step is an unbelievable suffering for you. Once upon a time, you were still alive, you cursed God. Now, after death, you have been rewarded. They whip you, they burn you with red-hot iron, they starve you, they laugh at your suffering. But you have one left. The last hope, the last bit of darkness you've kept. You can't sleep in your cell at night, so you listen to music. You have a lot of inflamed wounds all over your body that beat and glow. Like real raw death metal.

CRUMMER are a band from Spain, which has two singles and this year's debut. I put it in the player and like the hero from the beginning of the review, I found myself a few feet underground, in the hellish kingdom of death. We are long time undead. We suffer for all sins. But we can stand it. We can still listen to similar great records as "Deathwards".


CRUMMER states in their lead paragraph in their Bio that they are death metal fans who play for death metal fans. I have to sign this motto with my own blood. From the recording you can really feel determination, honesty, it is to know that the Spaniards recorded not only with reason but also with heart. For me personally, this is a very important thing. True fans of death metal will surely confirm me. "Deathwards" is a recording that takes place in the rhythm of old GRAVE, OBITUARY, MORGOTH, ASPHYX, PESTILENCE, MASSACRE, ENTOMBED, DISMEMBER, BOLT THROWER. The album has a beautiful, monumental cover, an ice-dark sound that makes bones crack, but above all a lot of ideas that will do well to anyone who has formed their opinion on music in the nineties of the last century. CRUMMER came to us from the deep Spanish underworld. Looks like they were once cursed. They managed to escape from the land of the undead to spread the only true faith - death metal! "Deathwards" will nail you to the wall. In an old cold crypt. You will be cast into darkness forever. You will fall to hell. Like me when I listened to this piece of honest grave work. Pure old school death metal that will take you to the depths of nothingness! Great!

Ave, can you introduce your band to our readers? – When was it founded and what style of music do you play etc.?

Hello everyone, we are Crummer and we play death metal old school.

Originally the band started in 1991 with Abel (current vocalist) and his brother Miguel, they did some home demos around then.

Officially in April 2020, already having a lot of recorded music and drawings painted in this month, we took the name of his project from the 90s and decided to make an album. Currently Crummer is a duo between Abel and me.

Now, it might be a good idea to check where those old 90's cassettes and photos are.


Where and under what conditions were you recording the new album? Who was in charge of sound, production and mastering?

The music for the album was recorded in April-May 2020, during home confinement. Abel and I live in different regions of the country so we couldn't meet physically until the summer, that's when we recorded the voices and the guests.

I did the production myself. I played and recorded the instruments. Also I mixed and mastered the album, once again in my house, as it usually happens with the other bands I belong.

I also do mixes and masters for other bands, especially now that it is very difficult to work as a live technician.

How many copies were released and which medium was used for this new edition (CD, digital, vinyl, cassette)?

"Deathwards" was released on April 1 on digital and compact disc, 500 copies. We have also released a very limited merch, almost sold out now.


Who is the author of the lyrics and how were they created and about what do the lyrics deal with?

Most of the lyrics were written by Abel, concretely five of the seven lyrics of the album. I wrote the other two.

All of them deal with a complex concept treated in a simple way, death and loneliness. The lyrics describe different aspects, atmospheres and situations close to death, burials, desolation, isolation, sadness...

I think Crummer is an "old school" band more for the lyrics than for the music.

Who created the logo of the band, and who took care of the graphics and the website? What about you and social networks? Do you consider these things important?

Once again, Crummer is a "do it yourself" band. The logo, the cover and all the drawings were painted by Abel in a traditional way, not digital art.

Then, I do the digital layout with this art for the CD, merch, videos, website and ads/promotional images.

Personally, I don´t like too much the social networks but I know that are essential, very important nowadays.

You must be constantly working on your networks. If you post something important now, in two hours it will be forgotten. There is too much information in motion.

I think we live in crazy times, specially for someone like me who started out listening to cassettes in the 90s. Like the expression "before Christ and after Christ", now it could also be said "before Internet and after Internet". It´s a joke but invites reflection.

Which label did you choose for releasing your album and why this label? Are you satisfied by how your label represents you and takés care about you?

The album was released by Pathologically Explicit Recordings. PER it´s a label dedicated to extreme metal since 2006, based in Spain.

I have known the owner personally for many years and I considered sending the album to him before to many other labels. He received it, listened to it, liked it and quickly decided to release it. All very fast and easy.

We are very happy and grateful to our record label. If you are a fan of extreme metal, visit Pathologically Explicit Recordings´s sites, he has a lot of stuff for sale.

Which bands do you idolise and where do you get your inspiration?

We listen to tons of music, we have big record collections in our homes.

It would be a very long list of bands that inspire us, for that reason I will mention the bands with which I started listening to Death metal in the 90s and the ones I love specially: Cannibal Corpse, Sinister & Gorefest.

Listening to how Abel sings, it´s obvious that he loves bands like Benediction, Morgoth or Obituary, for example.


Did you send your record to some Labels - which are the labels? How was the response?

Some record companies were in contact with us, especially now looking for a cooperation to release the album in other formats. But at the moment nothing confirmed about it.

It seems that the album is liking in the underground scene, the response is very good.

How many gigs have you played? Which type of gigs do you prefer, whether it's (clubs or festivals) and which of your performances would you consider as the best?

Unfortunately, we are a band formed in COVID times, we have never performed live.

But if the opportunity arises, we may play live in the future.

Both of us plays in other bands, Cathexia and Legacy Of Brutality, and we love the big festivals and small clubs, we enjoyed in the same way.

What about your plans for the future? What do you want to achieve with the band?

The most immediate plans are to promote the recently released album and maybe print more merch.

Někdy si říkám, že mi je v podsvětí lépe, než v normálním světě. Ten je poslední roky příliš složitý, nesrozumitelný, zákeřný a zlý. Žiju sice hezký spokojený život, ale zároveň mám někdy pocit, že se brzy něco stane. Možná se probudí nemrtví a přijdou se pomstít za všechny hříchy, které na nich byly spáchány. Někdy to tak vypadá. Život v temnotě má ale i své nesporné výhody. V undergroundu naleznete pořád kapely, které stojí za pozornost.

Dnes bych vám rád představil death metalovou skupinu IMPUR z Mallorcy. Ta hraje přesně podle mých představ. Syrově, hezky od podlahy. Jako bych v prstech proséval prach našich předků z devadesátých let. Tenkrát tento styl dostal svoji jasnou podobu. IMPUR jsou zručnými pokračovateli. 


IMPUR ctí bezezbytku staré death metalové pořádky. Hrají velmi uvěřitelně, syrově, mají dobrý zvuk, parádní obal, spoustu nápadů ve skladbách. Tři songy jsou sice jen takovou ochutnávkou, ale i tak si je pamatuji a rád se k nim vracím. Není divu, když si totiž tuhle smečku prověříte pečlivěji, zjistíte, že je složena ze zkušených muzikantů. "Slaves of Decay" je poctou třeba takovým MORGOTH, BOLT THROWER, MASSACRE, PESTILENCE, v surovějších polohách potom CANNIBAL CORPSE, BROKEN HOPE. Netřeba vést dlouhé diskuze, tentokrát stačí opravdu pořádně ohulit zvuk, sednout si a poslouchat. Chladné, pomalejší chvilky se prolínají s nářezem. Přesně tak, jak to mám rád. EP má temnou atmosféru, je složeno s nadšením, věřím kapele každou notu. A o to jde u podobných smeček stejně nejvíce. Nikam sice styl neposouvají, ale to dnes vlastně nikdo. O to zde ani nejde. Znáte to, utíkám do podzemí, zavírám za sebou velké rezavé dveře. Tady, mezi nemrtvými je mi nejlépe. Oni chápou, jak se má hrát death metal. Možná nás nakonec moc nezbyde, ale my jsme ve své víře ve Smrt věrní. Old school death metal zahraný s temnou jiskrou! Vítejte v záhrobí!

V hudbě, jako v čemkoliv jiném, věřím hlavně sobě a svým instinktům. Pohybují se v podzemí dlouhá léta a u kapel oceňuji hlavně opravdovost. IMPUR jsou přesně ti poslové death metalového zla ze starých časů, které budu vždy uctívat. Novinka "Slaves of Decay" je jasnou a hlasitou odpovědí na klasickou smrt. Prašivina, hniloba, staré popraskané rakve. Všechno tohle na novém albu najdete. Vítejte v záhrobí!

Nasávám chorobou nasáklou atmosféru, přehrabuji se ve starých kostech. Plesnivý zvuk, vokál z onoho světa, všude přítomná smrt a temnota. To jsou všechno podivné věci, které dělají z dobrých desek ty vynikající. S "Slaves of Decay" jsem trávil rád a s chutí dlouhé hodiny ve svém hrobě. Desku jsem proséval mezi prsty, rval jsem si ji do hlavy a pouštěl žilou. Stala se mojí součástí, protože je na ní muzika, kterou mám asi nejraději. Syrová, ryzí, reálná, smrtící. IMPUR nahráli EP plné záhrobních melodií, odkapává z ní špína, nenávist, zlo a hniloba. Propadli jsme kdysi peklu a podobné desky jsou pro nás doslova povinnost. Vynikající death metalová odpověď na ozvěny z onoho světa! Katakomby vydaly další svědectví! Smrt!

I suck the sick atmosphere, I look through the pile of old bones. A mouldy sound, a vocal from the beyond world, everywhere is death and darkness. Ave, can you introduce your band to our readers? – When was it founded and what style of music do you play etc.?

Hi Jakub, we are Impur Death Metal from the island of Mallorca, Spain. The line-up is Alex Correa and Risto Orihuela on guitars, Miguel Ramis on bass, Pep Comas on drums and I Edgar Bravo on vocals. Impur is formed in mid-2019, although most of us have been in extreme metal bands on the island. Let's say our style is heading towards classic death metal, but it also has a personal touch of the influences of each member of the band

Where and under what conditions were you recording the new album? Who was in charge of sound, production and mastering?

The production of 'Slaves Of Decay' is made by Impur and by Miguel A, Riutort A.K.A. Mega at the Psycosomatic studio in Mallorca at the end of 2021. Mega is a professional musician who has worked as a tour sound engineer with bands like Morbid Angel, Cryptopsy, Vltimas, Samael, Abbath and many more. He was in charge of the recording, mixing and mastering and his work was very important for our debut EP to have that power in production, we are lucky that he is from Mallorca too and with the pandemic he had time to record us.


How many copies were released and which medium was used for this new edition (CD, digital, vinyl, cassette)?

'Slaves of Decay' went on sale on April 17 on CD with 200 limited copies and also came out on all digital platforms (Spotify, Amazon, iTunes, Bandcamp ...).

Soon it will also be released in a split under the Russian label Wroth Emitter.

Who is the author of the lyrics and how were they created and about what do the lyrics deal with?

I was in charge of the lyrics of the EP 'Slaves Of Decay', all of them were written in 2019 except for some adjustments that were made at the last minute in the studio with Mega but in general the concept was created before the pandemic. Perhaps when reading them I can give a current vision of the world, I think that Death Metal has always had a pessimistic vision of humanity especially because of the elites that dominate the world, so songs like "Slaves Of Decay" and "Destruction Is Reborn "are focused on that premise. For the theme of 'Infinite Curse' it is about the condemnation that continues from generation to generation when parents inherit their existential frustrations to their descendants, it is a lyric about internal struggles or even about human degradation.


Who created the logo and artwork of the band, and who took care of the graphics and the website? What about you and social networks? Do you consider these things important?

The Impur logo is the work of the Spanish designer César Valladares who has worked with bands such as Asphyx, Krisiun, Graveyard (Spain) ...

The cover was made by Venezuelan artist John Quevedo Janssens who has worked with bands like Stygian Dark, Voracious Scourge, Nocturnal Hollow ...

We think that social networks are important for bands, I think the greatest benefit as a musician is that they listen to you anywhere in the world and that is currently very easy with social networks, we are receiving positive comments from Asia, Russia, whether buying cds or by Bandcamp. Thanks to social networks we will carry out the split that I mentioned before in Russia, these things without internet maybe they would not happen and if they happened it would not be so fast.


Which label did you choose for releasing your album and why this label? Are you satisfied by how your label represents you and takés care about you?

The label is BH Records, it is a label created by us from our previous band called Cerosity and it seemed like a good idea for our debut due to the copyright issue and in order not to waste so much time looking for labels we decided to release it on our own and for now we are getting a good response, even better than we expected.

Which bands do you idolise and where do you get your inspiration?

In general in Impur we have similarities in classic death metal bands like Death, Benediction, Unleashed among many other legends.

Personally, as a vocalist, I was inspired by the sound of the German band Mangled Torsos and their album "Drawings Of The Dead" that I remember having on CD when I was 11 years old and I tried to emulate the voice playing with 2 radios. . recorders, in one music and in another I recorded the music with my voice, then I practiced the guttural voice haha Another band that inspired me to sing in those years was the Colombian band Masacre, they have a Latin American death metal style, more primitive and brutal than what you used to hear, powerful voice and lyrical theme of a real problem, without fiction and all sung in Spanish.

Currently we have musical inspiration in different genres of rock, heavy and extreme metal but when it comes to creating music we feel more used to old school death metal.


Did you send your record to some Labels - which are the labels? How was the response?

At the moment, as I was saying, we wanted to go fast with the debut of the band and we have not touched the doors of the labels, but then when we record our first album if we would like to send the material to some labels.

How many gigs have you played? Which type of gigs do you prefer, whether it's (clubs or festivals) and which of your performances would you consider as the best?

As Impur we have not played live because with the pandemic it is impossible for now but being 4 former members of Cerosity let's say that we have already played together live. We hope as soon as possible to present our EP live either at open air festivals or in concert halls.

What about your plans for the future? What do you want to achieve with the band?
For now, continue to have the dynamics that we have with this EP, working on the songs in the rehearsal room and polishing them in the recording studio. At the moment we have a lot of material but we have to return to normality regarding the restrictions since there are still them, at least on the island where we live. Eventually, we hope it's this year, they record the first album or a longer EP.

Recenze/review - DORMANTH - Complete Downfall (2020)

Asi jako na každého na mě občas lezou chmury. Uzavřu se do sebe a nechce se mi s nikým mluvit. Štvou mě rozesmáté tváře, dav který v pravidelných intervalech vesele pulsuje ulicí jako živý organismus. Copak nikdo nechápe, že zrovna nemám náladu? Většinou potom volím úplně jinou muziku, než obvykle. Nasávám raději atmosféru lesních pěšin, vyhledávám skrytá místa, kam nikdo nechodí. 

Dnes mi nebylo nejlépe, připadal jsem si, že na mě všechno padá. Ale, je zde pověstné ale. Španělští DORMANTH hrají melodický death metal, který poslední roky příliš nemusím. Tentokrát mi ale sedli do nálady. Venku počasí předstírá šedivou zimu a je na čase se vydat do deště a sychravé mlhy. 


Moc dobře vím a slyším, že tohle tady bylo snad milionkrát. Ne že by tomu tedy bylo v jiných stylech jinak, ale musím uznat, že DORMANTH mě umí přikovat k přehrávači. Jejich skladby, ve stylu třeba takových PARADISE LOST, AMORPHIS, AMON AMARTH, IN FLAMES a INSOMNIUM, jsou pro mě takovým chladivým osvěžením. Nějak podvědomě cítím, že už jsem dobrý melodický death metal po dlouhé době potřeboval. Je to jako vzpomínky na sever, na pravou zimu se sněhem a ledem. Na staré švédské kapely, které dobývaly svět. Někoho album bude možná nudit, ale znáte to pořekadlo o sto chutích? Nemůžu popřít, že pánové rozumí svému řemeslu, songy odsýpají a mají potřebný drive. Navíc je mi sympatická barva zpěvákova hlasu. Nečekejte zázraky, on melodický death metal není dávno v kurzu, ale mě se líbí, jak se kapela ke své práci staví. Cítím zde odhodlání, kompas také ukazuje vždy na sever. Abych to nějak shrnul, tak nemám s nahrávkou sebemenší problém. Asi nebude v mých top tohoto roku, ale když bude chuť a půjdou na mě chmury, tak myslím, že po ní sáhnu pokaždé rád. Hudba je koneckonců hlavně o náladách, emocích, chuti a chvění. A to na "Complete Downfall" dle mého naleznete. Velmi dobře!

Oceňuji, jak si kapela hraje s melodiemi, že skladby mají jasný smysl a cíl. Pamatuji si je, cítím a prožívám spolu s kapelou jednotlivé nápady, motivy, melodie. Občas se DORMANTH možná až moc zamyslí, jsou příliš rozvláční (a i zaměnitelní s jinými - kdo ale není?), ale podobná hudba se také musí poslouchat v klidu a pohodě. Texty plné bolesti jen dodávají desce další rozměr. "Complete Downfall" mě opravdu velmi mile překvapila. Je zajímavá, neotřelá, jiná. Není dokonalá, ale možná proto ji oceňuji ještě víc. Je totiž jako samotný život. Smutná, hravá, temná, zlostná. Je i dobrým řemeslem, hudbou, která mě nenechává v klidu. Předané emoce létají mezi mnou a přehrávačem jako noční můry kolem lamp. DORMANTH vykročili správným směrem a nahrávku lze porovnávat minimálně s evropskými skupinami. V obrovské metalové řece mě španělští maniaci svojí deskou zaujali. Nasměřujte i vy svoji tvář na sever, uvidíte, že se vám bude ve vichřici jménem "Complete Downfall" líbit! Velmi dobrý melodický death metal s mrazivou přidanou hodnotou navíc!

I appreciate how the band is playing with the melodies and that the songs have a clear sense and purpose. I remember them, I am able to feel and live together with the band their individual ideas, motifs, melodies. Sometimes DORMANTH may think too much, they are too ragged (and interchangeable with others – but who is not?), but such music also must be listened to in peace and quiet. Painful lyrics just give to the record another dimension. "Complete Downfall" really surprised me very much. It's interesting, fresh, and different. It's not perfect, but maybe that's the reason why I appreciate it even more. It is like life itself. Sad, playful, dark, and angry. It's also a good craft, a music that does not leave me calm. Emotions are flying between me and the player as nightmares around the lamps. DORMANTH has stepped forward in the right direction and album can be compared at least with European groups. In the massive river of Metal the Spannish maniacs caught me with this record. Also you direct your faces on the north and you will see that you will like the storm called "Complete Downfall"! Very good melodic death metal with extra freezing added value!
