Historie násilí je stejně dlouhá jako lidstvo samo. Stále je uvnitř nás krvelačná šelma, která se objeví pokaždé, když to nejmíň čekáte. Rádi se díváme na děsivé horory, veřejné popravy, pořád nás fascinují sérioví vrazi. Na povrchu se tváříme, že všechny kolem sebe milujeme, na tváři máme falešné úsměvy a někde v podvědomí bychom raději zabíjeli. Nebo ne? Otázek na toto téma je hodně a začaly mě z nějakého důvodu napadat při poslechu nové desky MISANTHROPY z Chicaga. 

V závěru je to možná jednoduché. Potřebujeme svůj mozek restartovat, v dnešním podivném světě šílených informací. Co je lež a co pravda? Ví to ještě vůbec někdo? Raději si pouštím stále dokola "The Ever​-​Crushing Weight of Stagnance" a užívám si progresivní death metal v jeho naléhavé a brutální podobě. Zpočátku je to, jak už tomu bývá, náročný poslech. Ale časem, když vylezou na povrch veškeré nuance, stává se ze společných setkání doslova návyková záležitost. 


Složité, komplikované riffy, divoké melodie, vokál, který je surový. Skladby se valí kupředu jako lavina, je tu spousta odboček, různých výjezdů. Temných koutů, které zůstávají zpočátku ukryté ve stínu. Povedl se zvuk, který je masivní a dobře čitelný, stylový je i obal (Artwork by Pedro Sena). Myslím si, že fanoušek žánru se bude spokojeně usmívat a podupávat si nohou do rytmu. Pokud máte rádi kapely jako ORIGIN, ARCHSPIRE, ULCERATE, FLESHGORE, GORGUTS, ATHETIST, potom je pro vás tohle album doslova povinností. Sešla se zde totiž parta muzikantů, kteří moc dobře vědí, co a jak chtějí hrát. Zároveň, a to se mi opravdu hodně líbí, nepřevážila technická preludia nad jasnou strukturou songů. Zkrátka a dobře, jako starému metalovému psovi se mi líbí, že si tahle smečka zachovala i jakousi živočišnost, nadšení, touhu ničit hudbou. Určitě to nebude záležitost pro každého, to se rozumí samo sebou, ale pokud se vám tahle odrůda death metalu líbí, myslím si, že budete určitě spokojeni. I já, který se pohybuje přeci jen v trošku jiných vodách, se budu rád k nové desce vracet. Tak nějak si myslím, že podobná hudba se zde bude jednou hrát, až zvítězí naplno vztek nad zdravým rozumem. Ale nepředbíhejme, zatím vše alespoň trošku funguje a tak si můžete užít spoustu nových melodií, které pocházejí snad odněkud z vesmíru, z jiné dimenze. Rádi se díváme na děsivé horory, veřejné popravy, pořád nás fascinují sérioví vrazi. Pokud potřebuje vaše mysl také propláchnout kyselinou, měl bych pro vás řešení. Syrový, technický progresivní death metal, který se vám dostane do podvědomí!

The history of violence is as long as humanity itself. There is still a bloodthirsty beast inside us that appears whenever you least expect it. We love to watch horrific horror movies, public executions, we're still fascinated by serial killers. On the surface we pretend to love everyone around us, we have fake smiles on our faces and somewhere in our subconscious we would rather kill. Wouldn't we? There are a lot of questions on this topic and for some reason they started to come to me while listening to the new album from Chicago's MISANTHROPY.

In the end, maybe it's simple. We need to reboot our brains, in today's weird world of crazy information. What's a lie and what's the truth? Does anyone even know anymore? I prefer to play "The Ever-Crushing Weight of Stagnation" over and over again and enjoy progressive death metal in its urgent and brutal form. At first, as it happens, it's a challenging listen. But over time, when all the nuances come to the surface, it becomes a literally addictive affair.


Complex, intricate riffs, wild melodies, vocals that are raw. The songs roll forward like an avalanche, there are lots of digressions, different exits. Dark corners that remain hidden in the shadows at first. The sound is solid and clear, the cover artwork (Artwork by Pedro Sena) is stylish. I think a fan of the genre will smile with satisfaction and stomp their feet to the beat. If you like bands like ORIGIN, ARCHSPIRE, ULCERATE, FLESHGORE, GORGUTS, ATHETIST, then this album is literally a must for you. Because a bunch of musicians who know very well what and how they want to play have gathered here. At the same time, and I really like this a lot, the technical preludes did not prevail over the clear structure of the songs. In short, as an old metal dog, I like that this pack has also retained a kind of animalism, enthusiasm, desire to destroy with music. It's definitely not going to be a thing for everyone, that goes without saying, but if you like this variety of death metal, I think you'll be satisfied. Even I, who is in slightly different waters, will be happy to come back to the new album. Somehow I think that similar music will be played here one day, when anger wins over common sense. But let's not get ahead of ourselves, so far everything is working at least a little bit and you can enjoy a lot of new tunes that come from somewhere in the universe, from another dimension. Někdy se ptám sám sebe, co některé sny znamenají. Jakoby přicházely z podivné mlhy, do které jsou zahaleny nejen moje vzpomínky. Někdy mám pocit, že jsou v nich i otisky dávných časů. Přiznám se, že mě tahle kapela nejdříve dovedla k přečtení knihy Hypnerotomachia Poliphili. Tou se pánové inspirovali a musím uznat, že je tak činěno velmi umně, zkušeně a zajímavě. Mám rád hudbu, která mě donutí přemýšlet. Líbí se mi, když je moje fantazie rozdrásána a rozbita na tisíc kousků.

Hudebně oproti minulým albům sice ubylo trošku progresivního death metalu, ale to vůbec nevadí. Více je přítomný rock ze sedmdesátých let. Pokud vám vaši rodiče pouštěli staré vinylové desky slavných velikánů, určitě víte, o čem píšu. 


Přenesme se tedy spolu s kapelou do období renesance a nechme se unášet vznešenými, majestátními a neotřelými melodiemi. Jako první, co mě při poslechu napadlo, byla jakási těžko definovatelná naléhavost, která se celou nahrávkou prolíná. Je to temné album, ale takovým jiným, zvláštním způsobem. Dívali jste se někdy do kaleidoskopu? A fascinovala vás pestrá hra světel? Tak s deskou "Dreaming The Strife For Love" je to hodně podobné. Jen odstíny jsou černo šedé, pochmurné, svým způsobem smutné. Přesto je tu naděje. O zvuku, obalu a dalších formálních věcech není třeba diskutovat. Vše je v absolutním pořádku. Hlavní je tu, jako koneckonců vždy, hudba, nápady, melodie, vokál. Vše zabalené v zajímavém balení a podáváno s tím, že se budete muset plně soustředit, mít v sobě alespoň určitou dávku fantazie. Rád se dívám na zmrzlou řeku, s chutí se procházím zimní krajinou. Přemýšlím o tom, jaký musel být život v období renesance a poslouchám u toho tuhle nahrávku. Je po okraj narvaná zajímavými pasážemi, neklidem i chvěním. Hudba prochází skrze mě, vibruje, stala se na nějaký čas mojí součástí. Zůstala po ní stopa, emoce, vzpomínky. Já vím, píšu tu většinou o extrémním metalu, o surovosti a BEDSORE se na mé stránky vlastně ani příliš nehodí. Jenže přátelé, dobrá muzika je jenom jedna. Novinka pluje jako loď na moři. Klid před bouří, šelma číhající na svoji kořist. Jsem chycený a znovu objevuji svoje kořeny, které sahají podvědomě právě do období sedmdesátých let minulého století. Epický, sugestivní prog rock zahraný s vášní a nadšením! Pochmurný výlet do dávných časů! Abstraktní sny plné chladu i naděje!

Sometimes I ask myself what some dreams mean. They seem to come out of a strange fog, in which not only my memories are shrouded. Sometimes I feel that there are imprints of old times in them. I confess that this band first led me to read the book Hypnerotomachia Poliphili. The gentlemen were inspired by it, and I must admit that it is done very artfully, expertly and interestingly. I like music that makes me think. I like it when my imagination is shattered and broken into a thousand pieces.

Musically, compared to the previous albums, there is a bit less progressive death metal, but that doesn't matter. There is more rock from the seventies present. If your parents played you old vinyl records of famous greats, you know what I'm writing about.



Let's transport ourselves with the band to the Renaissance period and let ourselves be carried away by noble, majestic and original melodies. The first thing that came to mind when I listened was a kind of hard-to-define urgency that permeates the entire recording. It's a dark album, but in a different, strange kind of way. Have you ever looked into a kaleidoscope? And were you fascinated by the colourful play of lights? Well, it's very similar with "Dreaming The Strife For Love". Only the shades are black and grey, gloomy, sad in a way. Still, there's hope. There's no need to discuss the sound, the cover and other formal things. Everything is absolutely fine. The main thing here, as always, after all, is the music, the ideas, the melody, the vocals. All wrapped up in an interesting package and served with the fact that you have to fully concentrate, to have at least a certain amount of imagination. I love looking at a frozen river, I love walking through a winter landscape. I think about what life must have been like during the Renaissance, and I listen to this recording while I do it. It's packed to the brim with interesting passages, restlessness and trembling. The music passes through me, vibrates, becomes part of me for a time. It's left a trace, an emotion, a memory. I know, I write mostly about extreme metal here, about rawness, and BEDSORE doesn't really fit my pages. But friends, there is only one good music. The new stuff floats like a ship on the sea. The calm before the storm, the beast waiting for its prey. I am caught and rediscover my roots, which subconsciously go back to the 1970s. Epic, evocative prog rock played with passion and enthusiasm! A sombre trip to the old days! Abstract dreams full of cold and hope!

Lidská mysl má jednu zvláštní schopnost. Dokážeme zapomenout na všechno zlé a ošklivé. Vytěsnit vzpomínky, které se nám nelíbí a nejsou nám příjemné. Přesto zůstanou někde uvnitř naší hlavy, v podvědomí a občas vylezou na povrch jako zkažená krev z mokvající rány. S hudbou je to velmi podobné. Disonantní technický death metal je velmi těžkou disciplínou. 

Můžete jej zahrát nudně, neosobně a uměle a nebo může hořet zevnitř. HIERARCHIES je nová skupina, ve které se sešli samí zkušení muzikanti. Vzali všechny svoje dlouhodobé zkušenosti, hodili je na hromadu, zahalili je do temnoty a chladu a podávají je způsobem, který vás nenechá ani chvilku v klidu. Schválně si pusťte ukázky. Uklidněte svoji mysl a nechejte si ji touhle deskou rozdrásat do krve. 


Nicholas Turner (Dwelling Below, Acausal Intrusion), Anthony Wheeler (Dwelling Below, Hollowed Idols) a Jared Moran (Dwelling Below, Acausal Intrusion) nám předkládají materiál, který je zpočátku velmi těžký k pochopení a strávíte jej velmi pomalu. Alespoň tak jsem vnímal nové stejnojmenné album já. Lze zde vypozorovat vlivy kapel jako GORGUTS, IMMOLATION, CIGAN, AD NAUSEUM, PYRRHON, EVILYN, WORMED. Nic pro slabé povahy, řekl bych. Osobně se mi potom hodně líbí takový zvláštní temný odér, který se vznáší kolem po celou dobu poslechu. Skladby jsou postaveny na pevných základech, každá má jasný motiv a myšlenku. Na těch jsou potom rozvíjeny pestré a košaté kompozice, které jsou v některých momentech až "nepříjemné". Mají v sobě tlak i energii, divokost i živočišnost. Způsobují u mě neklid, touhu objevovat další a další temná zákoutí. Občas je tu hudba nepřehledá a zmatená, ale to k tomuhle stylu patří jako k mrtvému hrobník. Poslouchat "Hierarchies" je jako sledovat na pódiu jazzové těleso. Skvělí muzikanti, kteří ale zbytečně nepreludují. Pokud se vám tenhle styl líbí a rádi jej posloucháte, budete určitě navýsost spokojeni. Chce to jen otevřenou mysl, občas i trpělivost a potom budete odměněni opravdu zajímavým a neotřelým zážitkem. Musím se přiznat, že nejvíce se mi nová deska, která má mimochodem parádní zvuk i obal, nejlépe poslouchala k večeru, když byl už všude klid a ulice byly prázdné. Otevřel jsem pokaždé okno a čerpal jsem energii z hudby a možná i z vesmíru. Avantgardní technický death metal s disonantní temnou aurou! Velmi neklidná a znepokojující záležitost!

The human mind has one special ability. We can forget everything bad and ugly. To erase the memories that we don't like and are uncomfortable with. Yet they remain somewhere inside our head, in the subconscious, and sometimes they come to the surface like bad blood from a swollen wound. It is very similar with music. Dissonant technical death metal is a very difficult discipline. 

You can play it dull, impersonal and artificial, or it can burn from within. HIERARCHIES is a new band that brings together all experienced musicians. They've taken all their years of experience, thrown it in a pile, shrouded it in darkness and coolness, and delivered it in a way that won't leave you wanting for a moment. Listen to the previews on purpose. Calm your mind and let this record tear it to shreds. 


Nicholas Turner (Dwelling Below, Acausal Intrusion), Anthony Wheeler (Dwelling Below, Hollowed Idols) and Jared Moran (Dwelling Below, Acausal Intrusion) give us material that is initially very difficult to understand and digest very slowly. At least that's how I perceived the new album of the same name. You can see the influences of bands like GORGUTS, IMMOLATION, CIGAN, AD NAUSEUM, PYRRHON, EVILYN, WORMED. Nothing for the weak natured, I guess. Personally, then, I really like the strange dark odor that hovers around the whole time I'm listening. The songs are built on solid foundations, each with a clear motive and idea. On these, colourful and colourful compositions are then developed, which are almost "unpleasant" at some moments. They have both pressure and energy, ferocity and animality. They make me restless, wanting to explore more and more dark corners. At times the music is cluttered and confused, but that belongs to this style like a dead gravedigger. Listening to "Hierarchies" is like watching a jazz ensemble on stage. Great musicians, but they don't over-preach unnecessarily. If you like this style and enjoy listening to it, you will be extremely satisfied. All it takes is an open mind, and sometimes patience, and then you will be rewarded with a really interesting and novel experience. I have to admit that the best time to listen to the new album, which by the way has a great sound and cover, was in the evening, when everywhere was quiet and the streets were empty. I opened the window every time and drew energy from the music and maybe even from the universe. Avant-garde technical death metal with a dissonant dark aura! A very unsettling and disturbing affair!

Během života se chytáme naděje na posmrtný život, na rozhřešení, na nekonečný klid. Jenže, co když je to úplně jinak? Co když se dostaneme jenom do jiné dimenze a budeme v ní navěky trpět. Všechna bolest bude násobena tím, jak jsme ubližovali jiným, jak jsme se nechali pohltit temnotou. Jsou nahrávky, které mě dokáží donutit k podobným úvahám. Když jsem zjistil, že na debutové nahrávce polských death metalistů DEAMONOLITH je pouze jedna, přes 35 minut dlouhá skladba, byl jsem trošku skeptický.

Je velkou pravdou, že tohle album chce klid a zhasnutá světla. Také určitou porci fantazie a vstřícnost pro nové, neotřelé věci. Základem je zde surový death metal, přidávány jsou potom progresivní prvky, thrash metal, ale třeba i saxofon, piano nebo ženský zpěv. Už při prvním poslechu jsem věděl, že s touhle hudbou chci trávit dlouhý čas. Od začátku do konce se v ní totiž neustále něco děje a vzduchem se vznáší takový ten zvláštní neklid, který mám u muziky tolik rád. 


Kapela je složena ze samých zkušených muzikantů, kteří za sebou mají spoustu zajímavých počinů. Líbí se mi, že je v hudbě narvaná velká spousta emocí. DEAMONOLITH dokáží být suroví a nekompromisní, potom náhle změní směr a zažijete atmosférické plochy, lehké chvění, neklid. Skladba je rozdělena do šesti segmentů, které ale drží kompaktně pohromadě. Co se týká texů, tak ty pojednávají o kolapsu a konci lidské rasy, o nicotě, o prázdnotě, o spáse. Rozhodně stojí za prostudování. Nejdříve jsem si myslel, že si kapela vzala příliš velké sousto, ale opak je pravdou. Neustále se něco děje, byl jsem doslova přikovaný k reproduktoru. Zajímavé je, že se i po delší době k "The Monolithic Cult of Death" rád a často vracím. Jenom musím být odpočinutý. Poslech je pro mě náročný, protože se musím pečlivě soustředit a rád objevuji spolu s kapelou další a další nová temná zákoutí. Nejlépe bych asi novinku přirovnal k vichřici, která se probudila někde hluboko v podzemí. Smršť riffů útočí s velkým tlakem, melodie se mi dostávají až do morku kostí, jsem trhán na kusy. Nadechnu se jen občas, když je před další bouří. Jako bych doopravdy zemřel a procházel se ve světě za oponou. Zapomenout nesmím ani na masivní a dobře čitelný zvuk i zajímavý obal, který mi připomíná symboly, vytesané nad vchodem starých chrámů. Během života se chytáme naděje na posmrtný život, na rozhřešení, na nekonečný klid. Jenže, co když je to úplně jinak? Co když se dostaneme jenom do jiné dimenze a budeme v ní navěky trpět. Možná ale jenom shnijeme v chladné zemi. Netuším. Co ale moc dobře vím je, že nové album se povedlo po všech stránkách. Doporučuji všem, kteří mají otevřenou mysl. Experimentální, progresivní death metal, temné příběhy z onoho světa! Neklidná definice zla!

Throughout life we grasp at the hope of an afterlife, of absolution, of infinite peace. But what if it's completely different? What if we just get to another dimension and suffer in it forever. All the pain will be multiplied by how we hurt others, how we let the darkness consume us. There are recordings that can make me think like that. When I found out that the debut record of Polish death metallers DEAMONOLITH has only one song, over 35 minutes long, I was a bit skeptical.

It's very true that this album wants peace and lights out. Also, a certain amount of imagination and openness for new, novel things. The basis here is raw death metal, then progressive elements are added, thrash metal, but also saxophone, piano or female vocals. I knew from the first listen that I wanted to spend a long time with this music. From the beginning to the end, something is always happening and there is that special restlessness in the air that I like so much in music.


The band is composed of experienced musicians who have done many interesting things. I like that there is a lot of emotion packed into the music. DEAMONOLITH can be raw and uncompromising, then suddenly change direction and you experience atmospheric surfaces, slight tremors, restlessness. The track is divided into six segments, but they stick together compactly. As for the lyrics, they deal with the collapse and end of the human race, with nothingness, with emptiness, with salvation. Definitely worth studying. At first I thought the band took too big a bite, but the opposite is true. Something was constantly happening, I was literally riveted to the speaker. Interestingly, even after a long time, I still like to come back to "The Monolithic Cult of Death" often. I just need to be relaxed. Listening is challenging for me, because I have to concentrate carefully and I like to discover more and more new dark corners together with the band. I guess the best way to compare the novelty is to a storm that has awakened somewhere deep underground. The whirlwind of riffs attacks with great pressure, the melodies get to my bones, I am torn to pieces. I only catch my breath occasionally when it's before the next storm. It's like I've really died and I'm walking in the world behind the curtain. I mustn't forget the massive and easy-to-read sound and the interesting cover art, which reminds me of the symbols carved above the entrance of ancient temples. Throughout life we grasp at the hope of an afterlife, of absolution, of infinite peace. But what if it's completely different? What if we just get to another dimension and suffer in it forever. But maybe we'll just rot in the cold earth. I don't know. What I do know is that the new album is a success in every way. I recommend it to anyone with an open mind. Experimental, progressive death metal, dark stories from the other world! A restless definition of evil!

Určitě všichni znáte takové ty podivné horečnaté stavy, když se uvnitř vašeho těla probouzí nějaká zákeřná choroba. Mysl je najednou zahalena do mlhy a nejste schopni uvažovat v běžně dostupných pravidlech. Vidíte najednou věci, které jsou ostatním ukryty. Na povrch vylezou vaše nejniternější pocity, mnohdy temné a pro jistotu ukryté hluboko v podvědomí. Jsou kapely, které je umějí vytáhnout ven, na světlo a donutit vás nad nimi přemýšlet. Páté dlouhohrající album amerických GIGAN rozhodně nelze považovat za obyčejné, nudné, ani stereotypní.

Pánové se opět vydávají na svoji trans galaktickou misi, na dlouhý výlet, ze kterého vám přinášejí obrovskou porci neotřelých melodií. Zpočátku na mě působila (ostatně jako vždycky) nová nahrávka neuchopitelně, rozervaně. Usadila se až po nějakém čase a troufám si tvrdit, že když se k novince vrátím třeba za několik měsíců, budu stále objevovat nové motivy a pasáže.


Dokážu pochopit, když vám bude nová deska připadat nepříjemná a nebude se vám líbit. Kapela se rozhodně nikomu nepodbízí. Přichází s kůži na trh a v rámci technického a progresivního death metalu nadále kombinuje tento styl i s dalšími vlivy. Zazní tak klidně jazz, rock ze starých časů, ale i spousta dalších prvků. Vše je potom umícháno v jeden zajímavý a rozervaný celek, který se vám dostane postupně do hlavy. A nebo také ne. Záleží, jaký máte celkový přístup k hudbě. Líbit se bude určitě všem hledačům a objevovatelům, všem, kteří se rádi nechávají stále překvapit něčím novým. Některé skladby jsou opravdu dlouhé, motivy se opakují a nejdřív na mě působily lehce rozpačitě. Nenechte se ale mýlit, stále se něco děje. Navíc je album dobře zvukově ošetřené a všechny nástroje jsou dobře čitelné. Někomu možná bude chybět víc zla a špíny, ale zeptám se vás jinak - vy víte, jak se hraje ve vesmíru? GIGAN to rozhodně ví a přinášejí nám porci pravé, pestré a divoké muziky s mnoha vrstvami a odstíny. Pro fanoušky GORGUTS, ARTIFICIAL BRAIN, ULCERATE, WORMED, DISKORD, PORTAL AD NAUSEAM je nová deska doslova povinností. Zapomenout nesmím ani na obal, pod kterým je podepsán Max Winter. Myslím si, že motiv krásně vystihuje to, co se na albu odehrává. Jakoby přede mnou ožívaly vize klasických sci-fi autorů. Apokalypsa určitě brzy nastane, pokud nezačneme konečně jednat. Určitě všichni znáte takové ty podivné horečnaté stavy, když se uvnitř vašeho těla probouzí nějaká zákeřná choroba. Mysl je najednou zahalena do mlhy a nejste schopni uvažovat v běžně dostupných pravidlech. Vidíte najednou věci, které jsou ostatním ukryty. Transgalaktická progresivní technicko-death metalová mise! Temné ozvěny z dalekého vesmíru!

I'm sure you're all familiar with those strange feverish states when some insidious disease awakens inside your body. The mind is suddenly shrouded in a fog and you are unable to think in the usual terms. You suddenly see things that are hidden to others. Your innermost feelings, often dark and hidden deep in the subconscious for safety, come to the surface. There are bands that can bring them out into the light and make you think about them. The fifth full-length album from American GIGAN certainly cannot be considered ordinary, boring, or stereotypical.

Once again the gentlemen embark on their trans-galactic mission, a long trip from which they bring you a huge portion of fresh melodies. At first (as always), the new record had an ungraspable, disjointed effect on me. It settled down after some time and I dare to say that when I come back to the new release, maybe in a few months, I will still discover new motifs and passages.


I can understand if you find a new record uncomfortable and don't like it. The band is definitely not pandering to anyone. They come with skin in the game and continue to combine that style with other influences within technical and progressive death metal. You can hear jazz, rock from the old days, but also a lot of other elements. Everything is then mixed into one interesting and disjointed whole that gets into your head gradually. Or not. It depends on your overall approach to music. All seekers and explorers, all those who like to be constantly surprised by something new, will like it. Some of the tracks are really long, the motifs are repetitive and at first they made me feel a bit self-conscious. But make no mistake, there is always something going on. In addition, the album is well sound treated and all instruments are clearly audible. Some may miss more evil and dirt, but let me ask you another way - do you know how to play in space? GIGAN certainly do, and they bring us a serving of real, colourful and wild music with many layers and shades. For fans of GORGUTS, ARTIFICIAL BRAIN, ULCERATE, WORMED, DISKORD, PORTAL AD NAUSEAM, the new album is literally a must. Not to forget the cover artwork, signed by Max Winter. I think the motif beautifully describes what is happening on the album. It's as if the visions of classic sci-fi authors came to life in front of me. The apocalypse will surely come soon if we don't take action. I'm sure you all know those strange feverish states when some insidious disease awakens inside your body. Představte si skalpel, který se k vám postupně přibližuje. Jde o první říznutí, potom už následuje jenom bolest. Ostré hroty, které vám někdo zatlouká do hlavy. Rezavé hřeby, které se dostanou až do mozku. Zasažené máte všechno. Vnitřnosti i podvědomí. Přesně tímhle způsobem poslouchám novou desku technických death metalistů PYRRHON. Ti opět přicházejí s materiálem, který je zpočátku špatně stravitelný. Nejdříve ji budete vnímat jako chaos, jako totální zmar a beznaděj.

Teprve po delší době se vše usadí a na povrch vylezou jednotlivé nuance. Vlastně se jedná o album, které lze velmi špatně popsat. Těch experimentů je velké množství a je těžké je uchopit. Vyžadována je velká fantazie a touha objevovat nová zákoutí. Nechte si chutnat!


Ano, tvorbu téhle kapely lze připodobnit ke jménům jako ULCERATE, AD NAUSEAM, ARTIFICIAL BRAIN, ALTARS OF PLAGUES, GORGUTS, GIGAN. Samozřejmě, Američané přidávají velkou spoustu svých nápadů, invence. Na pevných death metalových základech jsou vystavěny složité a mocné kompozice. Vše působí velmi temně, přesto pestře a zajímavě. "Exhaust" je také albem, které je velmi dobře zvukově ošetřeno a na své si přijdou nejen všichni fanoušci tohoto stylu. Obal s mrtvým ptákem (pravděpodobně se jedná o městského holuba) je nechutný, lehce šokující, ale je také mementem, které vás má upozornit, že s dnešním světem není spousta věcí v pořádku. Pojďme ale znovu k hudbě. Ta je jako řeka, ve které se převalují různé proudy, odbočky, jednou je divoká a zabijácká, jindy zase ledová. Budete stát na břehu, pozorně poslouchat a vnímat hudbu celým svým tělem. Alespoň tak vnímám novou desku já. Dovedu pochopit, když se vám nebude líbit, rozhodně není určena pro každého. I já na ní musím mít náladu a čistou hlavu. Američané se snaží posouvat hranice a myslím si, že se jim to opět daří na výbornou. Schválně, několikrát si "Exhaust" poslechněte a uslyšíte sami. Představte si skalpel, který se k vám postupně přibližuje. Jde první říznutí, potom už následuje jenom bolest. Ostré hroty, které vám někdo zatlouká do hlavy. Your insides and your subconscious. That's exactly how I listen to the new album from technical death metallers PYRRHON. Once again they come with material that is hard to digest at first. At first, you will perceive it as chaos, as total death and hopelessness.

Only after a long time everything settles down and individual nuances come to the surface. Actually, this is an album that is very hard to describe. There are a lot of experiments and it's hard to grasp them. It requires a great imagination and a desire to explore new corners. Enjoy!


Yes, the work of this band can be compared to names like ULCERATE, AD NAUSEAM, ARTIFICIAL BRAIN, ALTARS OF PLAGUES, GORGUTS, GIGAN. Of course, the Americans add a lot of their own ideas, inventiveness. Complex and powerful compositions are built on solid death metal foundations. Everything looks very dark, yet colorful and interesting. "Exhaust" is also an album that is very well treated sonically, and not only all fans of this style will enjoy it. The cover artwork with the dead bird (presumably an urban pigeon) is disgusting, slightly shocking, but it is also a memento to remind you that there are many things wrong with the world today. But let's go back to the music. It's like a river, with different currents and branches, sometimes wild and killer, sometimes icy. You will stand on the bank, listen attentively and feel the music with your whole body. At least that's how I feel about the new album. I can understand if you don't like it, it's definitely not for everyone. I have to be in the mood for it too and keep my head clear. The Americans are trying to push the boundaries and I think they're doing it well again. Listen to "Exhaust" a few times and hear for yourself. Imagine a scalpel gradually approaching you. VILE RITES - Senescence

Někdy stojí jen tak ve stínu a čeká. Jindy se dostane do vašeho těla a postupně jej promění v prach. Občas udeří plnou silou, vztekem a nenávistí. Někdo si ji představuje jako dámu s kosou, jiný jako postavu bez tváře, další jako entitu z jiného světa. Záleží jen na vaší fantazii. Smrt má mnoho podob a na světě stále existují kapely, které se jí snaží znázornit svojí hudbou. Dovolte mi, abych vám představil kapelu VILE RITES z Kalifornie.

Jedná se o smečku, která je složena ze samých zkušených muzikantů (MORTUOUS, LACERATION, VEKTOR, SCYTHE). To by samo o sobě nebylo zase tolik zajímavé. Jenže tentokrát se zde sešla parta muzikantů, kteří nejen, že jsou na tom velmi dobře technicky, ale ještě navíc umí napsat opravdu dobré skladby. Jedná se o progresivní death metal, zahraný elegantně, nebál bych se napsat vznešeně, který má v sobě nejen takovou tu starodávnou patinu, ale zároveň je svěží a pestrý. A také se dobře poslouchá. 


"Senescence" je albem, které je po okraj narvané skvělými nápady. Jednou je ostré, nekompromisní, divoké, jindy přemýšlivé, chladné. Novinka je jako se neustále se měnící organismus, žhnoucí láva, která vyvěrá ze samého středu země. Líbí se mi tak akorát čistý, přesto masivní zvuk (Greg Wilkinson - mixing, mastering, recording). Oceňuji i zajímavý obal (autorem je skvělá polská umělkyně Justyna Koziczak). Zkrátka a dobře, fanoušek dostane komplexní, po formální stránce velmi dobře odvedenou práci. Nám jde ale hlavně o hudbu a ta je dle mého skromného úsudku velmi podmanivá, návyková. Pokud máte rádi kapely jako MORBID ANGEL, GORGUTS, DEATH, FACELESS BURIAL, ATHEIST, CYNIC, potom určitě ochutnejte. Myslím, že budete opravdu spokojeni. Vše je zde postaveno na starých, klasických smrtících základech, přidávány a rozvíjeny jsou potom nové, neotřelé motivy. To vše sedí v perfektním celku. Víc takto namíchaných koktejlů, prosím. Takhle to máme v undergroundu rádi. Většina dnešních progresivních kapel umí sice perfektně hrát, ale v podstatě se jedná o nepřehledná preludia. VILE RITES na to jdou jinak. Neztratili takovou tu morbidní surovost, tlak, energii, touhu ničit i temnotu, kterou by v sobě měly death metalové kapely mít. Jakoby mě kapela vzala na výlet do jiného světa,  ve kterém je vše možné. Hrají si se mnou jako šelma se svojí kořistí. Někdy stojí jen tak ve stínu a čeká. Jindy se dostane do vašeho těla a postupně jej promění v prach. Občas udeří plnou silou, vztekem a nenávistí. Někdo si ji představuje jako dámu s kosou, jiný jako postavu bez tváře, další jako entitu z jiného světa. Temný a chladný, progresivní death metalový výlet do jiných dimenzí, pestrá paleta syrových emocí! Smrt má mnoho podob!

Death has many forms and there are still bands in the world that try to represent it with their music. Let me introduce you to VILE RITES from California.

It is a pack that is composed of all experienced musicians (MORTUOUS, LACERATION, VEKTOR, SCYTHE). That in itself would not be that interesting. But this time there is a bunch of musicians who not only are very good technically, but also can write really good songs. This is progressive death metal, played elegantly, I wouldn't be afraid to write sublimely, which not only has that old patina, but at the same time is fresh and colourful. And it's also good to listen to. 


"Senescence" is an album that is packed to the brim with great ideas. Sometimes it's sharp, uncompromising, fierce, other times it's thoughtful, cool. The novelty is like an ever-changing organism, a glowing lava that springs from the very center of the earth. I like the clean yet massive sound (Greg Wilkinson - mixing, mastering, recording) just right. I also appreciate the interesting cover art (by the great Polish artist Justyna Koziczak). In short, the fan gets a comprehensive, formally very well done work. However, we are mainly interested in the music and it is, in my humble judgement, very captivating and addictive. If you like bands like MORBID ANGEL, GORGUTS, DEATH, FACELESS BURIAL, ATHEIST, CYNIC, then definitely give it a try. I think you will be really satisfied. Everything here is built on old, classic death foundations, then new, novel themes are added and developed. It all fits together in a perfect whole. More cocktails mixed like this, please. This is how we like it in the underground. Most of today's progressive bands can play perfectly well, but they are basically cluttered preludes. VILE RITES take a different approach. They haven't lost that morbid rawness, pressure, energy, desire to destroy and darkness that death metal bands should have in them. It's like the band took me on a trip to another world where everything is possible. They play with me like a beast with its prey. Sometimes they just stand in the shadows and wait. Other times it gets into your body and gradually turns it to dust. Sometimes it strikes with full force, rage and hatred. Some imagine her as a lady with a scythe, others as a faceless figure, still others as an entity from another world. Dark and cold, a progressive death metal trip to other dimensions, a colorful palette of raw emotions! Death has many forms!
