Tančíme na vlastních hrobech, abychom zapomněli na smrt. Skáčeme z pódia, pijeme hektolitry piva, abychom unikli ze současného divného světa. Točíme se v mosh-pitu a nedá se to nijak vysvětlit. Fascinuje nás temnota a chlad dávno opuštěných kobek. Nakonec nám jde hlavně o muziku, o které dlouze diskutujeme, abychom potom řvali texty spolu s kapelou. Mám rád smečky, které mi dokáží přelámat všechny kosti v těle. 

Mám ale vždy několik podmínek. Základem je dobrý zvuk, s chutí se podívám na zajímavý obal. Hudba mě potom musí rozervat na kusy. Musím mít chuť se k ní vracet a přidávat volume. Maniaky HEREZA sleduji od jejich počátků (recenze a rozhovory si můžete přečíst dole pod článkem). Novinku jsem očekával s velkým napětím. Zapnul jsem play a začal tančit na svém vlastním hrobě. 


Opět se jedná o surově namíchanou směs prašivého death metalu a punku. To vše zahrané s přístupem starých mistrů. Skladby mají jasné a zřetelné motivy, které se mi pokaždé zadřou pod kůži. Je v tom kus rebelie, je v tom kus srdce. Mám to takhle rád. Jsem starý metalový pes, který zvedá hlavu už jen v případě, když ho nějaké album přikove na zeď. HEREZA tohle všechno umí a dělá to velmi elegantně. Stačilo několik prvních setkání a pamatuji si každý motiv, každý riff, notu, úder bicích. Jsme zkrátka a dobře jedné krve. Fanoušci třeba takových ENTOMBED, DISMEMBER, BOMBS OF HADES, BLACK BREATH, SKINEFATHER, TRAP THEM, MALEVOLENT CREATION, MOTORHEAD, mi určitě má slova potvrdí. Je to jízda od začátku do konce. A směřuje, jak jinak, rovnou do pekla. Nevím, jak to máte ve svém životě vy, ale já potřebuji hudbu k tomu, abych přežil. Je pro mě relaxem, ale i nutností. Poslouchám ji v autě, v práci, doma, když si čtu a v pátek mám vždycky sto chutí vyrazit do zaplivaného špinavého klubu někde v podzemí. Tam tahle smečka patří a tam síla její hudby vynikne nejvíce. Je to underground toho nejhrubšího zrna, je to kus syrového masa, které vám hodí kapela do ksichtu. Líbí se mi i určitá nadsázka, touha ničit muzikou, které z nové desky "Decomposed Beyond Recognition" odkapávají jako čerstvá krev z proříznuté tepny. Tohle je metal a punk, ohlodaný na kost. Naživo výborní, na nahrávkách zničující. Takže přátelé, říkám fuck off všem debilům a pozérům a přidávám volume úplně doprava. Tančím na vlastním hrobě, abych zapomněl na smrt. Skáču z pódia, piju hektolitry piva, abych unikl ze současného divného světa. Točím se v mosh-pitu a neumím to nijak vysvětlit. Nahrubo nasekaná, surová death punk metalová tma, chlad a syrové maso! Popraskají vám všechny kosti v těle!

We dance on our own graves to forget death. We jump off the stage, drink hectolitres of beer to escape the strange world of today. We're spinning in mosh-pits and there's no way to explain it. We're fascinated by the darkness and coldness of long-abandoned dungeons. At the end of the day, it's all about the music, which we discuss at length, then scream the lyrics along with the band. I like a pack that can break every bone in my body.

But I always have a few conditions. The basic thing is a good sound, and I'm happy to look at an interesting cover. Then the music has to tear me apart. I have to want to go back to it and turn up the volume. I've been following the HEREZA maniacs since their early days (you can read reviews and interviews below the article). I awaited the new release with great anticipation. I put it on play and started dancing on my own grave.


Again, it is a raw mix of dusty death metal and punk. All played with the attitude of the old masters. The songs have clear and distinct themes that get under my skin every time. There's a piece of rebellion in it, there's a piece of heart in it. I like it that way. I'm an old metal dog who only raises his head when an album nails him to the wall. HEREZA can do all that and does it very elegantly. Just the first few meetings and I remember every motif, every riff, every note, every drum beat. We are, in short, of one blood. Fans of such bands as ENTOMBED, DISMEMBER, BOMBS OF HADES, BLACK BREATH, SKINEFATHER, TRAP THEM, MALEVOLENT CREATION, MOTORHEAD will surely confirm my words. It's a ride from start to finish. And it goes straight to hell. I don't know about your life, but I need music to survive. It's a relaxation for me, but it's also a necessity. I listen to it in the car, at work, at home, when I'm reading, and on Fridays I always feel like going to a dirty filthy club somewhere underground. That's where this pack belongs and where the power of their music shines through the most. It's underground of the coarsest grain, it's a piece of raw meat that the band throws in your face. I also like a certain exaggeration, a desire to destroy with music that drips from the new album "Decomposed Beyond Recognition" like fresh blood from a cut artery. This is metal and punk, gnawed to the bone. Great live, devastating on record. So friends, I say fuck off to all the assholes and posers and turn the volume all the way to the right. I'm dancing on my own grave to forget death. I'm jumping off the stage, drinking hectoliters of beer to escape the weird world of today. I'm spinning in mosh-pits and I can't explain it. Coarsely chopped, raw death punk metal darkness, cold and raw meat! It'll crack every bone in your body!

Měli jsme kdysi dávno, na konci osmdesátých let, staršího kamaráda, který nám pouštěl hororové filmy. My jsme doma VHS přehrávač nikdy neměli a tak jsem se musel pokaždé v noci vracet temným městem. Byl jsem na začátku puberty a děsil jsem se každého stínu. Představoval jsem si šílená monstra, která mi půjdou každou chvíli po krku. Tenhle kamarád, dej mu pánbůh i satan věčný klid, nám také pouštěl metal. Může za to, že jsem se kdysi dávno, v dobách muchlajících kazet, potkal i kapelu DECEASED. Seděli jsme tenkrát před reproduktory a hltali každý tón, každou notu.

Jsou věci, které se nemění, je na ně spolehnutí, jsou pevným záchytným bodem ve vesmíru, které potřebuji, abych v dnešním světě přežil. Na tuhle smečku je spolehnutí. Letos, skoro čtyřicet let po svém vzniku, spoustou skvělých alb i nezapomenutelném koncertě v roce 2014 v Praze, tihle gentlemani přicházejí s novinkou, která je metalovým hororovým opusem. Vyhrabejte tedy ve sklepě staré kazety, oprašte džínovou bundu a nechte se unášet do světa, kde krev teče proudem a všichni jsou ještě víc narušení, než v realitě. 


Na téhle smečce se mi vždy líbilo (a trvá to dosud) jak si umí hrát s melodiemi, jak umně kombinují prašivý death metal, ostrý thrash a heavy melodie dohromady. Výsledkem bývá vždy velmi jedovatý koktejl, s takovým tím záhadným, neklidným efektem, na který má tahle kapela patent. Když jsem "Children of the Morgue" jednomu svému starému kamarádovi, řekl jediné - ty vole, chtěl bych být v takové formě jako oni! Vlastně bych nemusel psát nic dalšího, protože jeho slova plně vystihují to, co si o novince myslím i já. Nicméně, skladby jsou velmi působivé, a to i přesto, že jsou dlouhé. Vůbec to nevadí, pořád se v nich něco děje, různě gradují, děsí, DECEASED si hrají s pochmurnými nápady jako šílený patolog se svým skalpelem. Určitě jste někdy viděli fotky z přelomu minulého tisíciletí, kdy se rodiče fotili se svými zemřelými dětmi. Pokaždé, když tohle album poslouchám, tak si na ně vzpomenu. Jakoby přede mnou ožívaly, naříkaly a křičely do ticha. Možná jsme už všichni staří psi, někdy už přemýšlíme nad tím, co bude, až tady nebudeme, ale dokud budou vznikat podobné nahrávky, má smysl tuhle hudbu poslouchat. To vám klidně podepíšu vlastní krví. A není v tím jenom velký kus nostalgie. Američané opět dokazují, že nepatří do starého železa a znovu nakopávají zadek všem, včetně mojí maličkosti. Deska má navíc takový ten starý, plesnivý zvuk, spoustu hororových vsuvek a celkově působí přesně tak, jak si představuji muziku, kterou budu zase poslouchat několik let stále dokola. Jsme zkrátka jedné krve, já i kapela a jinak tomu už nebude. Možná ze mě bude jednou stařec, co křičí na mraky, ale i tak budu "Children of the Morgue" všem doporučovat. Navíc, mě děti v hororech děsily vždy nejvíc. Nevinnosti spojená s krvelačností, uff. Děsivé, mrazivé death, thrash,heavy metalové ozvěny z toho nejhlubšího podzemí! Nářek nemrtvých!

We used to have an older friend back in the late 80s who used to show us horror movies. We never had a VHS player at home, so I had to walk back through the dark city every night. I was in my early teens and I was terrified of every shadow. I imagined crazy monsters coming for me at any moment. This friend of mine, God and Satan grant him eternal peace, also played metal for us. It may be that I also met the band DECEASED a long time ago, back in the days of making out tapes. We sat in front of the speakers back then and devoured every note, every note.

There are some things that don't change, they are relied upon, they are a solid clue in the universe that I need to survive in today's world. This pack is reliable. This year, almost forty years after their formation, a slew of great albums and an unforgettable 2014 concert in Prague, these gentlemen come up with a new metal horror opus. So dig out the old cassettes in the basement, dust off your denim jacket and let yourself drift into a world where blood flows and everyone is even more disturbed than in reality. 


What I've always liked about this pack (and still do) is how they can play with melodies, how skillfully they combine dusty death metal, sharp thrash and heavy melodies together. The result is always a very poisonous cocktail, with that mysterious, restless effect that this band has a patent for. When I played "Children of the Morgue" to an old friend of mine, he said one thing - dude, I wish I was in the same shape as them! Actually, I don't need to write anything else, because his words fully describe what I think about the new album. However, the songs are very impressive, even though they are long. It doesn't matter at all, there's always something going on, they graduate in different ways, they scare, DECEASED play with gloomy ideas like a mad pathologist with his scalpel. I'm sure you've seen the photos from the turn of the last millennium of parents taking pictures with their deceased children. Every time I listen to this album, I think of them. They seem to come alive in front of me, wailing and screaming into the silence. Maybe we're all old dogs now, sometimes wondering what will happen when we're not here, but as long as records like this are being made, it makes sense to listen to this music. I'll sign that in my own blood. And it's not just a big piece of nostalgia. The Americans are proving once again that they don't belong to the old iron and are kicking everybody's ass again, including my little one. The record also has that old, musty sound, lots of horror interludes and overall it feels exactly like the kind of music I imagine I'll be listening to over and over again for years to come. We are simply of the same blood, me and the band, and it won't be any other way. I may be an old man screaming at clouds one day, but I'll still recommend "Children of the Morgue" to everyone. Plus, kids have always scared me the most in horror movies. Innocence combined with gore, ugh. Eerie, freezing death, thrash, heavy metal echoes from the deepest underground! The wail of the undead!

Padá na mě tíseň ze současného podivného světa a tak zase jednou volám Satanovi, jestli pro mě nemá nějakou dobrou hudbu. Jenže on stále sedí na svém trůnu a věřící maj absolutní smůlu. Poradím si tedy jako vždycky sám. Nepotřebuji žádné rady a za ty roky, co extrémní muziku poslouchám, tak si pečlivě vybírám, co si narvu do hlavy a o čem budu psát. LAID TO WASTE sleduji od jejich počátků a i když tahle smečka netrpí nadprodukcí, tak každé jejich vydané album rozhodně stojí za to. 

Seděl jsem takhle doma a četl si. Píše mi Michal Kafe, který je nejen vydavatelem a šéfem mini labelu Coffegrinder, ale také mým kamarádem. Trošku mě naštval, že mě vyrušil, ale nedalo mi to. Novinku "Trauma" jsem si poslechl ještě ten večer a byla pro mě bleskem z čistého nebe. Většinou prvotní nadšení trošku vyprchá, ale to se zde nestalo. Už jenom ten masivní, řezající a dobře čitelný zvuk (Honza Kapák - recording, mastering), už jenom ten jedovatý vokál, který všemu vévodí jako postava, sedící na obalu. Vše sedí perfektně na svých místech. 


To by ale bylo málo. V dnešní době nadprodukce se nakonec stejně vždy oddělí zrno od plev a nic na tom nezmění ani masivní promo na sociálních sítích. LAID TO WASTE vždy měli svůj vlastní rukopis. Stále velice umně a elegantně koketují i s heavy metalem. Nově přibylo více progresivnějších, technických pasáží, které mě osobně dělají tak dobře, že jsem se od nahrávky nemohl odtrhnout. Chodil jsem ulicemi, jezdil autem, četl si, pracoval jsem a ve všech situacích na mě novinka působila a drtila mě. Jasně, hudební kritik nebo nedej bože někdo, kdo tuhle hudbu neposlouchá, může namítnout, že tu už všechno bylo. Jenže přátelé, hlavní je vždycky celkový dojem, nálady, atmosféra. A tihle maniaci dodávají pestrý a velmi propracovaný materiál, který nejen, že se dobře poslouchá, ale navíc má v sobě něco neklidného, přitažlivého. Za zmínku stojí i texty, které působí velmi poeticky. Zkrátka a dobře, každá skladba má jasný, zřetelný motiv, který si zapamatujete, zaryje se vám do mozku i do podvědomí. Píšu a doporučuji už dávno opravdu jenom desky, které mě baví poslouchat a podporovat a u "Trauma" není moc co řešit. Pokud máš rád ostrý, pestrobarevný thrash metal, nebojíš se lehkých experimentů a pořád si rebel bez příčiny, tak neváhej ani chvilku. Nahrávka by se mohla líbit jak starým psům, jako jsem já, tak i mladým, kteří si rádi rozšiřují svoje obzory a mají alespoň určitou dávku fantazie. Říkám to pořád, více než 35 let. Pokud sedíš u reproduktorů a začneš si podupávat nohou a mlátit hlavou o zeď, potom je album dobré. Padá na mě tíseň ze současného podivného světa a tak zase jednou volám Satanovi, jestli pro mě nemá nějakou dobrou hudbu. Konečně to zvedne, zasměje se svým nezaměnitelným smíchem a řekne jedno slovo: "Trauma". Ostré, divoké, podmanivé a neklidné album, po okraj narvané surovými, propracovanými melodiemi! Thrash metal par excellence!

The weight of the present strange world falls on me, and so I call Satan once again to see if he has any good music for me. But he's still on his throne and the faithful are out of luck. So I'll do as I always do. I don't need any advice, and in all the years I've been listening to extreme music, I choose carefully what I put in my head and what I write about. I've been following LAID TO WASTE since their early days and while this pack doesn't suffer from overproduction, every album they release is definitely worth it. 

I've been sitting at home reading like this. Michal Kafe writes me, who is not only the publisher and head of the mini label Coffegrinder, but also my friend. I was a bit annoyed that he disturbed me, but I didn't let it get to me. I listened to the new album "Trauma" that evening and it was a bolt from the blue. Usually the initial enthusiasm wears off a bit, but that didn't happen here. Just the massive, cutting and clear sound (Honza Kapák - recording, mastering), just the venomous vocal that dominates everything like a figure sitting on the cover. Everything fits perfectly in its place. 

 

That wouldn't be enough. In these times of overproduction, the wheat is always separated from the chaff in the end, and even a massive social media promotion won't change that. LAID TO WASTE have always had their own signature. They still flirt with heavy metal in an elegant way. Newly added are more progressive, technical passages that make me personally so good that I couldn't tear myself away from the record. I walked the streets, drove the car, read, worked, and in all situations the novelty affected and crushed me. Sure, a music critic or God forbid someone who doesn't listen to this music might argue that it's all been here before. But friends, the main thing is always the overall impression, the mood, the atmosphere. And these maniacs deliver varied and very sophisticated material that is not only good to listen to, but also has something restless, appealing about it. Also worth mentioning are the lyrics, which have a very poetic feel. In short, each song has a clear, distinct motif that you will remember, it will stick in your brain and subconscious. I've really only been writing and recommending records that I enjoy listening to and supporting for a long time now, and with "Trauma" there's not much to go on. If you like edgy, colorful thrash metal, aren't afraid of light experimentation, and still rebel without a cause, then don't hesitate a moment. The record might appeal to old dogs like me, as well as young ones who like to expand their horizons and have at least a certain amount of imagination. I've been saying this all along, for over 35 years. If you sit at the speakers and start stomping your foot and banging your head against the wall, then the album is good. The weight of today's strange world falls on me, and so once again I call out to Satan to see if he has any good music for me. He finally picks up, laughs his unmistakable laugh and says one word: "Trauma". A sharp, fierce, captivating and restless album, packed to the brim with raw, sophisticated melodies! Thrash metal par excellence!

O existenci tohoto monstra jsem netušil vůbec nic. Byl jsem překvapen, když jsem poprvé viděl ve tmě jeho žhnoucí oči, jeho krvelačný pohled. Hluboko v podzemí, pod kdysi činnou sopkou, mezi ohlodanými kostmi. Kdysi silná bestie se uložila k dlouhému spánku, aby se  letos znovu probudila. Máte rádi thrash metal? Smrtící kov? Líbí se vám Kaijū filmy? Pokud odpovídáte ano, potom jste zde správně.

Americká kapela OXYGEN DESTROYER se totiž těmito záležitostmi zaobírá. A dělá to velmi elegantně a zkušeně. Můžete si užívat masivní a zničující zvuk (Noah Buchanan - mixing mastering, Charlie Koryn - recording), můžete se podívat na černobílý stylový obal (Shoggoth Kinetics), který se také velmi povedl. Ale hlavně! Můžete si užít hudbu, která vás roztrhá na kusy. 


Když nové album "Guardian of the Universe" poslouchám, tak se opravdu cítím jako starý archeolog, který právě objevil děsivé monstrum v hlubinách. Američané se volně inspirovali kapelami jako VADER, MORBID SAINT, DEMOLITION HAMMER, SODOM, KREATOR, SOLSTICE, MALEVOLENT CREATION. Skladby v sobě mají tolik důležitý drive a sílu, třaskavou směs, kterou máme všichni u tohoto stylu tolik rádi. Je to jízda od začátku do konce, divoká a směřuje rovnou do pekla. Nebo do dávno opuštěných chodeb podzemí, ve kterých se právě probouzí děsivé monstrum. Jedná se o třetí dlouhohrající nahrávku v řadě a troufám si tvrdit, že také nejlepší. Kapele se povedlo umíchat koktejl, který je chladný, temný a je v něm spousta i tolik potřebného vzteku. Je to vlastně jednoduché. Novinku jsem si několikrát poslechl a potom se k ní často a rád vracel. Pokaždé, když jsem si potřeboval vyčistit hlavu od zbytečností dnešního světa, vždy, když mě něco naštvalo. Nejdřív jsem podupával jen tak nohou, kýval se do rytmu, abych nakonec řádil, jako po úrazu elektrickým proudem. OXYGEN DESTROYER mě rozemleli na prach, strhli do víru, pohřbili zaživa. Podobné smečky budou hrát z reproduktorů, až nás zničí jaderné bomby, až nastane apokalypsa. Přežijí jenom silní a odolní jedinci a tahle hudba. Nelze jinak, než vám novou desku doporučit. O existenci tohoto monstra jsem netušil vůbec nic. Byl jsem překvapen, když jsem poprvé viděl ve tmě jeho žhnoucí oči, jeho krvelačný pohled. Deep underground, beneath a once-active volcano, among the gnawed bones. The once powerful beast had gone into a long slumber, only to awaken again this year. Do you like thrash metal? Death metal? Do you like Kaijū movies? If you answer yes, then you've come to the right place.

The American band OXYGEN DESTROYER is all about these things. And they do it very elegantly and expertly. But most importantly! You can enjoy music that will tear you to pieces.


When I listen to the new album "Guardian of the Universe" I really feel like an old archaeologist who has just discovered a terrifying monster in the deep. The Americans were loosely inspired by bands like VADER, MORBID SAINT, DEMOLITION HAMMER, SODOM, KREATOR, SOLSTICE, MALEVOLENT CREATION. The songs have that all-important drive and power, the crackling blend we all love so much about this style. It's a ride from start to finish, wild and heading straight to hell. Or into the long-abandoned corridors of the underground, where a terrifying monster is just waking up. This is the third long-playing record in a row and, I dare say, the best. The band has managed to mix a cocktail that is cold, dark and there is plenty of much needed anger in it as well. It's actually quite simple. I listened to the new album a few times and then returned to it often and happily. Every time I needed to clear my head of the uselessness of today's world, every time something made me angry. At first I would just stomp my foot, swaying to the beat, only to finally go on a rampage, like an electrocution. OXYGEN DESTROYER ground me to dust, pulled me into a whirlpool, buried me alive. Similar packs will play from the speakers when the nuclear bombs destroy us, when the apocalypse comes. Only the strong and the resilient will survive, and this music. I can't help but recommend this new album to you. I had no idea this monster existed. I was surprised when I first saw its glowing eyes in the dark, its bloodthirsty gaze. Deep underground, beneath a once-active volcano, among the gnawed bones. The once powerful beast had gone into a long slumber, only to awaken again this year. Ferocious, devastating thrash death metal that awakens terrifying monsters from the depths! Massacre!

Máš úplně všechno. Pěkný dům, milou ženu, nikdy si neměl hlad. Tvoje děti tě mají rády a stejně tě sere celej svět. V práci ti připadají všichni hloupí, šéf není také z nejchytřejších a tak chodíš domů frustrovaný a sekáš kolem sebe drápem, jakoby se ti opravdu něco dělo. Sedáváš u internetu a píšeš sprostá slova lidem, které si nikdy neviděl. Všechno je špatně, nikdo ničemu nerozumí. Jsi politik, sportovní trenér, akademik i hudební kritik. Hele vole a co kdyby sis dal jen tak nohy nahoru, otevřel pivo a pustil si starý klip od Brayana Adamse - Summer Of '69?

Že tě to nebaví, že už ti to přijde starý a naivní? Tak zkus třeba thrash grind hardcore maniaky HATCHEND. Myslím si, že ti by mohli svojí hudbou propláchnout tvůj nakažený mozek a vyčistit jej od zbytečností a frustrací. Tihle pánové (mimo jiné působící ve smečkách jako BIRDFLESH, DERANGED, RAZORRAPE, DEATHENING), moc dobře vědí, co a jak chtějí hrát - surovou, na kost ohlodanou muziku, která vás rozseká na kusy. 


Vždycky se mi líbil zvuk otevíraného piva, ten klid a rozvaha, které tenhle nápoj přináší. S novou deskou "Summer Of '69" je to velmi podobné. I když se v extrémní hudbě pohybuji spíše v temnotě a na starých pohřebištích, tak musím uznat, že mě tahle nahrávka strhla do víru. Ta síla, energie, ten neskutečný tlak, melodie, které se mi zadřely pod kůži. V televizi už jenom vaří a nebo vyšetřují vraždy, já už tomuhle světu pomalu přestávám rozumět. Líbí se mi, že HATCHEND na to jdou opravdově, reálně, uvěřitelně. Navíc, na to se často zapomíná, mají pánové talent rozdrtit vaše kosti a vystřelit vám mozek z hlavy. Zvuk je surový, dynamický a zničující (mixoval a masteroval Ulf Blomberg), obal je také povedený, nemyslíte? Zkrátka a dobře, fanoušek dostane přesně to, co chce a žádá. Plus navíc takový ten neklid, touhu jít do garáže, vzít do rukou kladivo a rozsekat nejbližší zeď, televizi i počítač. Je to underground, jsou to melodie, které zpočátku znějí možná trošku chaoticky, ale časem se usadí a stanou se pro vás doslova nutností. Alespoň takhle na mě album funguje. Vždycky, když podobné desky poslouchám, tak si říkám, jak by bylo na světě krásně, kdyby všichni ti frustrovaní, co berou do rukou zbraně a ubližují druhým, raději skočili do mosh-pitu a vyřádili se dole pod pódiem. Ano, nové album na mě má skoro až terapeutický účinek. A to, prosím pěkně, není v dnešní divné době vůbec málo. Mám úplně všechno. Pěkný dům, milou ženu, nikdy jsem neměl hlad. Moje děti mě mají rády a stejně mě sere celej svět. Ne, vlastně ne, klid. Poslouchám "Summer Of '69" a moje mysl je čistá jako hladina horského jezera! Surový, neurvalý, divoký thrash hardcore metal, který vás vytrhne z temných hlubin vašich vlastních myšlenek!

Everyone at work seems stupid, your boss isn't the brightest either, so you go home frustrated and claw around like something's really wrong. That you're tired of it, that it's old and naive? Then try thrash grind hardcore maniacs HATCHEND. I think they could flush your infected brain with their music and clean it from uselessness and frustrations. These guys (among others active in packs like BIRDFLESH, DERANGED, RAZORRAPE, DEATHENING) know very well what they want to play and how they want to play it - raw, gnawed-to-the-bone music that will cut you to pieces.

 

I've always liked the sound of a beer being opened, the calm and serenity that this drink brings. It's very similar with the new album "Summer Of '69". Even though I tend to be more into the dark and old graveyards of extreme music, I have to admit that this record took me into a vortex. The power, the energy, the incredible pressure, the melodies that got under my skin. All they do on TV anymore is cook or investigate murders, I'm slowly losing my understanding of this world. I like the fact that HATCHEND go for it in a real, real, believable way. Plus, it's often forgotten, the gentlemen have a knack for crushing your bones and blowing your brains out. The sound is raw, dynamic and devastating (mixed and mastered by Ulf Blomberg), the cover art is also hilarious, don't you think? In short, the fan gets exactly what he wants and demands. Plus the extra restlessness, the desire to go to the garage, pick up a hammer and smash the nearest wall, TV and computer. It's underground, it's tunes that may sound a bit chaotic at first, but eventually settle in and become a literal must have. At least that's how the album works for me. Whenever I listen to albums like this, I always think how beautiful the world would be if all those frustrated people who pick up guns and hurt others would rather jump into a mosh pit and goof off down below the stage. Yes, the new album has an almost therapeutic effect on me. And that, please, is no small thing in these strange times. I've got everything. A nice house, a nice wife, I've never been hungry. My kids love me, and the whole world still gives a shit about me. No, actually, no, relax. I'm listening to "Summer Of '69" and my mind is as clear as a mountain lake! Raw, unbridled, savage thrash hardcore metal that will take you out of the dark depths of your own thoughts!

Ave, can you introduce your band to our readers? – When was it founded and what style of music do you play etc.?

Noctumbra: Mayhemic has been playing fucking fast and beastly blackened thrash metal since 2018 and it will continue to be that way until all the fucking heads of all the fucking and hateful bangers around the world roll in violence !!!!!!!

Where and under what conditions were you recording the new album? Who was in charge of sound, production and mastering?

Doom: Sebastian from the bands Nuclear, Bitterdusk and Hellman do the full job in Audiocustom studio. He did a terrific work.


How many copies were released and which medium was used for this new edition (CD, digital, vinyl, cassette)?

Doom: 1000 copies on cd and vinyl, but there will be no limitation, if it is sold out, the label will press more, actually i think that they are going to repress soon.

Who is the author of the lyrics and how were they created and about what do the lyrics deal with?

Noctumbra: I write the lyrics for the band. I write about topics related to death, extinction and catastrophic historical events. Cursed lyrics for cursed music !!!!!

Who created the logo of the band, and who took care of the graphics and the website? What about you and social networks? Do you consider these things important?

Doom: LDG made the first logo and Bastián Velasquez modified it recently. I take care of the flyers and stuffs from the band, and yes, we think that it is really important.

Which label did you choose for releasing your album and why this label? Are you satisfied by how your label represents you and takés care about you?

Doom: Sepulchral Voice Records from Germany it’s our label, and they do their job perfectly, we are more than satisfied with our deal with them.


Which bands do you idolise and where do you get your inspiration?

Noctumbra: Early Kreator, Sodom, Necronomicon, Sepultura, Chakal, Vulcano and others...

How many gigs have you played? Which type of gigs do you prefer, whether it's (clubs or festivals) and which of your performances would you consider as the best?

Doom: We had played 37 shows, both formats are cool i think. Some of my favourites performances where in the Bolivian tour, both of our release shows where cool too.


What about your plans for the future? What do you want to achieve with the band?

Noctumbra: For now we will continue promoting our album “Toba”. We are also planning a European tour that could become a reality in mid-2025. After that, we will continue creating aggressive and dizzying riffs of death !!!!!

Usmála se na mě a řekla mi, abych se napil. Nešlo odmítnout. Musela být kdysi moc hezká. Teď jí z obličeje odpadávalo maso a z pusy jí lezli smradlaví červi. Přesto na ní bylo něco moc přitažlivého. Napil jsem se zkažené krve a odložil sklenici na víko od rakve. Už jsme tu spolu dlouhou dobu. Pohřbeni zaživa posloucháme jenom hudbu, která se nám líbí, která nám koluje v žilách. Kombinace blacku a thrash metalu mi dělala vždy velmi dobře na mé prokleté duši.

MAYHEMIC pocházejí z Chile, odkud mimochodem poslední dobou slýchávám velké množství dobrých kapel. Datum založení - 2018 a když se podíváte, v jakých dalších smečkách pánové hrají, zjistíte, že je chilská scéna velmi provázaná. Nicméně, jedná se o dlouhohrající debut, který mě ihned přikoval na zeď. 


Chilané vás vezmou po časové ose zpět, do časů kdy pódiím vládly kapely jako KREATOR, SODOM, POSSESSED, NIFELHEIM, DESASTER, PROTECTOR, MERCILESS, SEPULTURA, NECRODEATH. Zde by moje definice vlastně mohla skončit. Jenže to by museli být pánové jenom dnes tolik častou kopií věcí minulých. Určitým pohledem tomu tak je, jenže dnes se tomu nevyhnete. Mě zaujala tahle deska hlavně tím, že je zahraná od srdce, uvěřitelně. MAYHEMIC se s tím moc nepářou, ale nezapomínají ani na chladné a podmanivé melodie. I já, starý prašivý pes musím uznat, že se skladby velmi dobře poslouchají, že má album parádní řezající zvuk (Sebastián Puente), že je obal opravdovým a zajímavým uměleckým dílem. Zkrátka a dobře, zafungoval u mě zase jednou klasický přístup. Sedl jsem si v pokoji, postupně přidával hlasitost, abych nakonec dostal velkou chuť na porcování syrového masa. Byl jsem stržen energií, nemohl jsem zůstat v klidu. "Toba" je albem, které se mi ihned dostalo do krve. Je divoké, devastující, nezapomíná se ani na syrové melodie. MAYHEMIC jsou jako smečka rozzuřených psů, kteří vás roztrhají na kusy. Tuhle muziku musíte mít v sobě, ve svých srdcích, v podvědomí. Musíte do ní dát všechno. Teprve potom vyniknou všechny její odstíny. Pánové všechno tohle umí a přidávají ještě něco navíc. Kus sebe samých. Mrzí mě snad jenom jediné. Rád bych je viděl na koncertě, dal nějaké to pivo a skočil si z pódia. Hergot, tohle album fakt řeže jako čerstvě nabroušený skalpel. Napil jsem se zkažené krve a odložil sklenici na víko od rakve. Už jsme tu spolu dlouhou dobu. Pohřbeni zaživa posloucháme jenom hudbu, která se nám líbí, která nám koluje v žilách. Black thrash metalová bouře ze starých prašivých márnic! Divoká jízda přímo do pekla!

She smiled at me and told me to take a drink. I couldn't refuse. She must have been very pretty once. Now the flesh was falling off her face and stink worms were crawling out of her mouth. Still, there was something very attractive about her. I took a sip of the tainted blood and set the glass down on the coffin lid. We've been together a long time. Buried alive, we only listen to the music we like, the music that runs through our veins. The combination of black and thrash metal has always done my damn soul a world of good.

MAYHEMIC are from Chile, where I've been hearing a lot of good bands from lately by the way. The date of foundation - 2018 and if you look at what other packs the gentlemen play in, you will find that the Chilean scene is very cohesive. However, this is a long-playing debut that immediately had me pinned to the wall. 


Chileans will take you back in time, to the days when bands like KREATOR, SODOM, POSSESSED, NIFELHEIM, DESASTER, PROTECTOR, MERCILESS, SEPULTURA, NECRODEATH ruled the stages. Only it would have to be the gentlemen just a copy of things past so common today. In some ways they are, it's just that you can't avoid it today. What attracted me to this record is that it is played from the heart, believably. MAYHEMIC don't mess with it too much, but they don't forget the cool and captivating melodies either. Even I, an old mangy dog, have to admit that the songs are very easy to listen to, that the album has a great cutting sound (Sebastián Puente), that the cover is a real and interesting work of art. In short, the classical approach worked for me once again. I sat down in my room, gradually turning up the volume to finally get a big craving for carving raw meat. I was overwhelmed with energy, I couldn't stay still. "Toba" is the album that immediately got into my blood. It's ferocious, devastating, not forgetting the raw melodies. MAYHEMIC are like a pack of rabid dogs that will tear you apart. You have to have this music in you, in your hearts, in your subconscious. You have to give it your all. Only then will all the shades come out. The gentlemen do all that and then add a little something extra. A piece of themselves. I have one regret. I'd love to see them in concert, have a beer and jump off the stage. Damn, this album really cuts like a freshly sharpened scalpel. I drank the bad blood and put the glass on the lid of the coffin. We've been together a long time. Buried alive, we only listen to the music we like, the music that runs through our veins. Black thrash metal storm from the old dingy morgues! A wild ride straight to hell!

Byla to vlastně náhoda, že jsem sešel z cesty. V temném lese kousek za městem jsem poslouchal novou desku DOLDREY ze Singapuru. Přemýšlel jsem zrovna o smrti a co bude následovat po ní, když jsem si všiml bělostné kosti, trčící jako svědomí ze země. Zavolal jsem několik svých kolegů, přidal jsem hlasitost na přehrávači a před námi se objevilo pohřebiště plné mělkých hrobů. Těla v různém stádiu rozkladu jakoby žalovala, řvala do ticha. Cítil jsem z jejich šepotu bolest, strach i nenávist. Stejně jako z nové desky "Only Death Is Eternal".

Pozorný čtenář ví, že o téhle smečce jsem již na našich stránkách psal. Ano, předchozí album "Celestial Deconstruction" mě přesvědčilo o tom, že téhle kapele se budu vždy rád věnovat. Novinka je pokračováním morbidních představ, je krutým mementem i syrovým zásekem přímo do vaší hlavy. Poslouchejte hodně nahlas!


U "Only Death Is Eternal" vylézají nemrtví z hrobů. Touží po krvi, surovém death metalu, punku i crustu. To jim tihle šílenci narvou pod tlakem do chřtánu. Dostanete pestrou směs ve stylu ENTOMBED, NIHILIST, MAMMOTH GRINDER, BASTARD GRAVE, BOMBS OF HADES, CARNAGE. To vše samozřejmě ušpiněné ve vlastním morbidním stylu. Dovedu si představit starou opuštěnou márnici, ve které se dnes odehrává koncert téhle kapely. Přijdou všichni. Živí i nemrtví, prokletí i démoni. Všichni chtějí po kapele tlak a energii, všichni touží po tom, aby je rozsekala na malé kousky. Přání je zde otcem myšlenky a také čerstvě odkrytým hrobem, který vypráví své děsivé příběhy. Zvuk, obal, celková produkce, vše je určeno pouze k tomu, aby vám byl vystřelen mozek z hlavy. Líbí se mi neurvalý a drsný způsob, jakým kapela přistupuje ke své hrobnické práci. Žádné zbytečnosti, žádná hluchá místa. Jedná se o přímý útok, o setkání se smečkou prašivých rozzuřených psů. Kusy masa létají vzduchem, mozek stéká po zdi a střeva se válejí po zemi jako mlha nad močálem. Přiznám se bez mučení, mám to tímto způsobem moc rád a nemůžu jinak, než vám nové album doporučit. Má v sobě totiž všechno, co od hudby chci a požaduji. Potácím se zase jednou v temnotě a nasávám shnilý pach smrti. Byla to vlastně náhoda, že jsem sešel z cesty. V temném lese kousek za městem jsem poslouchal novou desku DOLDREY ze Singapuru. Přemýšlel jsem zrovna o smrti a co bude následovat po ní, když jsem si všiml bělostné kosti, trčící jako svědomí ze země. Surový, prašivý, smradlavý death punk crust atak, u kterého vám popraskají všechny kosti v těle! Smrt tančí na vašich hrobech!

It was actually a coincidence that I got off the road. I was listening to the new DOLDREY album from Singapore in a dark forest outside the city. I was just thinking about death and what would come after when I noticed a white bone sticking out of the ground like a conscience. I called a few of my colleagues over, turned up the volume on the player and a burial ground full of shallow graves appeared before us. Bodies in various stages of decomposition seemed to be grieving, screaming into the silence. I could feel the pain, fear and hatred from their whispers. Just like the new album "Only Death Is Eternal".

The attentive reader knows that I have written about this pack on our pages before. Yes, the previous album "Celestial Deconstruction" has convinced me that I will always be happy to follow this band. The new one is a continuation of morbid fantasies, it is a cruel memento and a raw hit straight to your head. Listen very loud!


With "Only Death Is Eternal", the undead come out of their graves. They crave blood, raw death metal, punk and crust. That's what these lunatics shove down their throats under pressure. You get a varied mix of ENTOMBED, NIHILIST, MAMMOTH GRINDER, BASTARD GRAVE, BOMBS OF HADES, CARNAGE. All of this, of course, soiled in their own morbid style. I can imagine the old abandoned morgue where this band is playing today. Everybody's coming. The living and the undead, the damned and the demons. All wanting the band to push and energize, all wanting the band to chop them up into little pieces. The wish here is the father of the idea, and also a freshly uncovered grave that tells its horrifying stories. The sound, the cover art, the overall production, everything is just designed to blow your brains out. I like the raw and gritty way the band approaches their grave digging work. No unnecessaries, no dead spots. This is a direct assault, an encounter with a pack of mangy rabid dogs. Chunks of flesh fly through the air, brains splatter against the wall and guts roll across the ground like mist over a swamp. I'll admit without torture, I love it this way and I can't help but recommend the new album to you. It has everything I want and demand from music. I'm once again stumbling in the darkness and breathing in the rotten smell of death. It was actually an accident that I went astray. In a dark forest outside the city, I was listening to the new DOLDREY album from Singapore. I was just thinking about death and what would come after it when I noticed a white bone sticking out of the ground like a conscience. A raw, dusty, smelly death punk crust attack that will crack every bone in your body! Death dancing on your graves!

Vždycky jsem si myslel, že jednou zemřu stářím nebo na nějakou děsivou chorobu. Jenže teď tu stojím, v temné a chladné ulici a proti mě běží smečka rozzuřených prašivých psů. Snažím se bránit, ale maso mi odpadává od kostí, mozek se vaří ve vlastní šťávě. Nepomáhá adrenalin, ani šílený křik, který mi vychází z hrdla. Postupně mě dostanou na zem, prokousnou mi hrdlo a nakonec se stanu jejich potravou. Moje další setkání s americkými LACERATION opravdu připomíná rvačku se smečkou rozzuřených šelem.

Téhle kapele se u nás na stránkách věnujeme již nějaký čas. Minulé recenze jsou odkazovány dole pod článkem. Pánové pokračují ve své zběsilé jízdě a nadále ctí prašivou kombinaci death metalu a thrashe. Letos mi novinka přijde drtivější, vzteklejší a temnější. Jako současný podivný svět. 


Ne, tady se opravdu nejedná o další umělou kapelu současnosti. Nenaleznete zde plastový zvuk, ani lesklé fotky v komerčních metalových časopisech. Je to přesně naopak. Pánové vás vezmou na ryzí, mrazivou exhumaci starých hrobů ve stylu třeba takových SOLSTICE, MALEVOLENT CREATION, DEMOLITION HAMMER, MORBID ANGEL, MASSACRE, SKELETAL REMAINS, RAPTURE. Budete se kývat do rytmu, jako staří hrobníci, jako fanoušci, kteří ještě ví, o čem je pravý,  nefalšovaný death a thrash metal. Zvukově se jedná o velmi vydařené album (Greg Wilkinson), líbí se mi i obal od skvělého malíře Jamese Bousema. Novinku mě baví poslouchat hlavně brzy ráno, když jdu do práce a ulice jsou ještě temné. U nás ve městě potkáte jak prašivé, vzteklé psy, tak i jedince, kteří připomínají spíše zombie, než lidi. Škrábou si tělo do krve, mají podlité oči. Jakoby apokalypsa dávno začala. Tady se hraje reálný metal od srdce, který se valí kupředu jako buldozer. Vše je ohlodané na kost, uvěřitelné. A hlavně, nové album "I Erode" mě baví opět poslouchat a rád se k němu vracím. Občas se objeví v nedalekém parku pobodané tělo. Viník se nikdy nenajde, ale všichni tak nějak vědí, kdo by to mohl být. Atmosféra potom několik dní připomíná právě tuhle desku. Je morbidní, chladná a nelidská. Když po temné noci vyleze slunce a zalije světlem celé město, vše je najednou krásné a svěží. Všichni ale víme, že špína bublá pod povrchem. Nelze jinak, než vám novou nahrávku doporučit. Zničující death thrash metal, který vám odtrhá maso od kostí! Ryzost, špína a prašivina!

I always thought that one day I would die of old age or some horrible disease. But now I'm standing here, in a dark and cold street, with a pack of angry mangy dogs running towards me. I try to fight back, but the flesh is falling off my bones, my brain is boiling in its own juices. Adrenaline doesn't help, nor does the mad scream that comes from my throat. Gradually they get me down, bite my throat and eventually I become their food. My next encounter with the American LACERATION is really like a fight with a pack of angry beasts.

We've been covering this band on our site for some time now. Past reviews are linked at the bottom of the article. The gentlemen continue their furious ride and continue to honor the mangy combination of death metal and thrash. This year I find the new stuff to be more crushing, angrier and darker. Like the current weird world.


No, this really isn't another contemporary art band. You won't find a plastic sound here, or glossy photos in commercial metal magazines. It's just the opposite. The gentlemen take you on a pure, chilling exhumation of old graves in the style of such bands as SOLSTICE, MALEVOLENT CREATION, DEMOLITION HAMMER, MORBID ANGEL, MASSACRE, SKELETAL REMAINS, RAPTURE. You'll be swaying to the rhythm, like old grave diggers, like fans who still know what true, unadulterated death and thrash metal is all about. Sonically, this is a very accomplished album (Greg Wilkinson), and I like the cover artwork by the great artist James Bousem. I enjoy listening to the new album especially early in the morning when I go to work and the streets are still dark. In my city you will meet mangy, rabid dogs as well as individuals that resemble zombies rather than people. They scratch their flesh to the blood, their eyes are bloodshot. It's like the apocalypse started a long time ago. This is real metal from the heart, rolling forward like a bulldozer. Everything is gnawed to the bone, believable. And most importantly, the new album "I Erode" is fun to listen to again and I love coming back to it. Occasionally a stabbed body turns up in a nearby park. The culprit is never found, but everyone kind of knows who it could be. The atmosphere is reminiscent of this record for days afterwards. It's morbid, cold and inhuman. When the sun comes out after a dark night and bathes the whole town in light, everything is suddenly beautiful and fresh. But we all know that dirt bubbles beneath the surface. I can't help but recommend this new record to you. Devastating death thrash metal that will rip the flesh from your bones! Purity, dirt and filth!
