Nevím, jak to máte nastavené v hlavě vy, ale mě někdy současný digitální svět neskutečně štve (i když si samozřejmě užívám všechny jeho výhody). Vyrůstal jsem ve zcela jiných časech. Každé nové album jsem si musel zasloužit, koupit, podpořit kapelu. Nahrávky nevydával každý, kapely si musely oddřít svoje, mít talent, dobrý label, musely projít sítem jak u vydavatelů, tak i u fanoušků. Vyměňovali jsme si kazety, nocovali před obchody a čekali, že budeme mít štěstí a budeme si moci novinky koupit. Nechci působit jako stařec, křičící na mraky, ale občas se mi po tomhle všem stýská.

Netřeba zoufat, pořád ještě existují kapely jako DEATHHAMMER, které jsou schopné vás na podobné výlety do historie vzít. Pokud máte rádi thrash metal, speed metal, black metal a třeba i starý heavy metal, potom dejte téhle smečce určitě šanci. Jejich diskografie je totiž plná vzpomínek na dobu, kdy se hrál metal ještě opravdově, od srdce. 


Já vím, dnes se hraje úplně jinak, kapely mívají úplně odlišnou produkci, muzikanti mnohdy připomínají perfektně seřízené stroje. DEATHHAMMER jsou zkrátka jiní, sázejí spíše na nostalgii mě podobných a nebo také na novou generaci fanoušků, kteří si chtějí také prožít to, co pro nás kdysi na konci osmdesátých a počátku devadesátých let minulého století bylo samozřejmostí. Pánové velice umně, inteligentně a zajímavě citují ze starých metalových učebnic. Skvělé je pro mě osobně hlavně to, že jim jejich hudbu věřím. Dnes se takhle snaží vracet poměrně velká spousta skupin, ale většina mě nechává zcela chladným. Norové za to zkrátka a dobře umí vzít. Jsou opravdoví, reální, autentičtí. S ničím se moc nepářou a tak lze ve skladbách vystopovat velké množství tlaku a energie. Jednou jsem v nějakém hodně starém béčkovém hororu viděl psychopata, který přivázal krásnou blondýnku ke sloupu. Řezal do ní ostrými žiletkami. Ona křičela a trvalo to nekonečně dlouho, než zemřela. Při poslechu "Crimson Dawn" si na to velmi často vzpomenu. Novinka totiž hoří zevnitř, je neskutečně heavy. Hele, na rovinu, tohle všechno tady už bylo snad tisíckrát a je velmi lehké tuhle kapelu zavrhnout. Jenže když ono mě jejich hudba tak nějak podvědomě baví, užívám si ji. Je v tom samozřejmě spousta osobních vzpomínek, ale komu to vadí? Viděl bych to spíše tak, že už jsem zkrátka starý pes, který poslouchá jenom hudbu, která se mi líbí. Proč bych měl psát o něčem, co pro mě není dobré? Těším se, až bude víkend. To si dělám doma retro večery. Je vám doufám jasné, že tahle nahrávka nebude v mé sbírce chybět. Black thrash speed metalový útok z toho nejhlubšího podsvětí! Ohně byly znovu zapáleny!

I don't know how you're wired, but sometimes the current digital world really annoys me (although I enjoy all its benefits, of course). I grew up in completely different times. Every new album I had to earn, buy, support the band. Not everyone released records, bands had to do their own thing, have talent, a good label, they had to pass the test of both publishers and fans. We swapped cassettes, spent the night in front of stores and waited for luck and to be able to buy new releases. I don't want to sound like an old man shouting at the clouds, but sometimes I miss all this.

Don't despair, there are still bands like DEATHHAMMER that are able to take you on similar trips into history. If you like thrash metal, speed metal, black metal and maybe even old heavy metal, then definitely give this band a chance. Their discography is full of memories of a time when metal was still played truly, from the heart.


I know, today's music is completely different, bands tend to have completely different production, musicians often resemble perfectly tuned machines. DEATHHAMMER are simply different, they rely more on the nostalgia of people like me or on a new generation of fans who also want to experience what was once a matter of course for us in the late eighties and early nineties of the last century. The gentlemen quote from old metal textbooks very skillfully, intelligently and interestingly. What's great for me personally is that I trust them with their music. Nowadays, quite a lot of bands are trying to make a comeback like this, but most of them leave me completely cold. The Norwegians simply know how to take it well. They are genuine, real, authentic. They don't mess with anything much, and so you can trace a lot of pressure and energy in the songs. Once, in a very old B-rated horror movie, I saw a psychopath who tied a beautiful blonde to a pole. He cut her with sharp razor blades. She screamed and it took an infinite amount of time for her to die. I remember that very often when listening to "Crimson Dawn". The new album burns from the inside, it's incredibly heavy. Look, let's face it, all of this has been here a thousand times before and it's very easy to dismiss this band. But if I somehow subconsciously enjoy their music, I enjoy it. Of course, there are a lot of personal memories in it, but who cares? I would rather see it as me being an old dog who only listens to music that I like. Why should I write about something that's not good for me? I'm looking forward to the weekend. That's what I do at home for retro evenings. I hope you understand that this record will not be missing from my collection. Black thrash speed metal attack from the deepest underworld! The fires have been lit again!

Nevím, jak to máte nastavené vy, ale mě baví kapely, které mi dokáží rozproudit krev v žilách. Určitě to znáte, člověk si sedne k reproduktorům, unavený po těžkém dni. A buď mu létají myšlenky někde v prostoru a nebo si začne podupávat nohou, mlátit pěstí do stolu a neustále dokola si číst, o čem jsou texty. VIOLATOR patří mezi vyvolené. Je to právě jejich schopnost mě přikovat ke zdi, rozdrtit, nabít energií, co mám na nich asi nejraději. Jak asi všichni víte, jedná se o maniaky z Brazílie, kteří si již svými předešlými nahrávkami získaly srdce nejednoho pravověrného fanouška thrash metalu.

Novinka, stejně jako všechna starší alba, by se ale mohla líbit třeba i punkerům. Má v sobě totiž něco nespoutaného, živočišného, divokého. Působí na mě jako ostré žiletky, kterými do mě kapela řeže, dokud nejsem celý od krve. Ano, "Unholy Retribution" se opět povedlo. 

U thrash metalu je více než kde jinde nutné, aby v sobě měla hudba přitažlivost, aby pálila a žhnula, aby byla jako čerstvě vyvřelá láva. VIOLATOR tohle všechno umí. Mají v určitých ohledech šokující texty, se kterými ne vždy plně souhlasím, ale přátelé, přesně o tomhle tenhle styl vždycky býval. Zatímco mnoho starších smeček se statusem legend má již značně vylámané zuby a nudí mě, Brazilci v sobě mají pověstnou jiskru, drive, sílu, tlak a energii. Jasně, pánové citují z jasně daných osnov thrash metalových učebnic (SLAYER, VIO-LENCE, DARK ANGEL, KREATOR, SODOM), nevymýšlejí nic znovu, ani neobjevují, ale oni to vlastně ani nepotřebují. Jsou jako tsunami, jako přírodní živel, který nelze spoutat. Můžete jen podlehnout a nebo utéct. Zkrátka a dobře, pokud máte rádi thrash metal v jeho klasické, neotesané a surové podobě, jste zde správně. Pokud hledáte navíc progresi, technické finesy nebo hluboká zamyšlení, není novinka pro vás. Osobně se mi nejvíc osvědčilo aplikovat "Unholy Retribution" v momentech, když mě všechno kolem už hodně štvalo. Falešné úsměvy politiků, debilní kecy v diskuzích, hloupost, tupý dav, hromady mrtvol ve světových válkách. Řval jsem do tmy, raději se zavíral do své ulity, s pivem v ruce a touhle nahrávkou. Jako starý metalový pes jsem s novinkou velmi spokojený. Když si to vezmu kolem a kolem, tak mi nic nechybí. Dostal jsem přesně to, co jsem čekal, chtěl a přál si. Nahrubo nasekaný, surový thrash metal, po kterém vám zůstane v hlavě špinavá krvavá stopa!

I don't know how you set it up, but I enjoy bands that can get my blood pumping. You probably know it, a person sits down at the speakers, tired after a hard day. And either their thoughts are flying somewhere in space or they start stamping their feet, banging their fists on the table and constantly reading what the lyrics are about. VIOLATOR is among the chosen ones. It is precisely their ability to pin me to the wall, crush me, charge me with energy that I probably like the most about them. As you probably all know, these are maniacs from Brazil, who have already won the hearts of many a true thrash metal fan with their previous recordings.

The new album, like all the older albums, could also appeal to punkers. It has something unbridled, animalistic, wild in it. It seems to me like sharp razor blades, with which the band cuts into me until I am completely covered in blood. Yes, "Unholy Retribution" was a success again.


In thrash metal, more than anywhere else, it is necessary for the music to have appeal, to burn and glow, to be like freshly erupted lava. VIOLATOR can do all of this. They have shocking lyrics in certain respects, which I don't always fully agree with, but friends, that's exactly what this style has always been about. While many older bands with legendary status have already broken their teeth and bore me, the Brazilians have the famous spark, drive, strength, pressure and energy. Sure, the gentlemen quote from the clearly given syllabus of thrash metal textbooks (SLAYER, VIO-LENCE, DARK ANGEL, KREATOR, SODOM), they don't reinvent or discover anything, but they don't really need it. They are like a tsunami, like a natural element that cannot be restrained. You can only succumb or run away. In short, if you like thrash metal in its classic, uncouth and raw form, you've come to the right place. If you are looking for progression, technical finesse or deep thoughts, this is not news for you. Personally, I found it most useful to apply "Unholy Retribution" in moments when everything around me was really annoying. Fake smiles of politicians, stupid crap in discussions, stupidity, stupid crowd, piles of corpses in world wars. I shouted into the darkness, preferring to close myself in my shell, with a beer in my hand and this record. As an old metal dog, I am very satisfied with the new release. When I take it around and around, I don't miss anything. I got exactly what I expected, wanted and wished for. Roughly chopped, raw thrash metal, which will leave a dirty bloody mark in your head!

Chodívali jsme s jednou partou ze sídliště na jedno temné místo za hřbitovní zdí. Psaly se devadesátá léta minulého století a pivo nám chutnalo stejně jako krásný holky a syrový metal. Kazety v přehrávači, džínové vesty, vlasy do půlky zad. Bývala to doba mládí, objevování a hudby, která zůstala navěky zakódována v našich duších. Uběhla spousta vody v řece Styx a někteří z nás už leží na hřbitově několik metrů pod zemí.

Zůstala nám jenom naděje, že potkáme při svých toulkách podzemím další kapelu, která umí říznout do živého. Pokud máte podobnou historii jako já, tak určitě švédské tmáře KORP znáte. Pánové působí na scéně od roku 1996 a stále drží vlajku s lebkou a zkříženými kostmi hrdě vztyčenou. Kapela je zpět, silnější než kdy dřív. Staroškolský zvuk, poctivé riffy, jedovatý vokál. Až se setmí, vydám se znovu ke hřbitovní zdi. Tentokrát již půjdu jenom sám. Víc nás nezbylo. 


Pro mě bývají podobné nahrávky osobní výpovědí. Ostře nasekaný thrash metal, temný smrtící kov i chladný black metal, tohle všechno zde najdete, navzájem smíchané v děsivém poměru. Skladby jsou velmi dobře napsány, navíc se celou nahrávkou vine jako nějaký hodně jedovatý had, určitý druh tajemna. Znovu usedám na dřevěnou lavici, hned vedle náhrobku se jmény prokletých. Sem tahle hudba patří a odjakživa patřila. Také cítíte takovou tu pradávnou sílu, tlak a energii? Já ano, ale nutno rovnou dodat, že rozhodně nemám nadhled, protože znáte to, už dávno neposlouchám muziku ušima, ale spíše srdcem. Jsme zkrátka s KORP stejné krve. Vnímáme pach hniloby velmi podobným způsobem. Jasně že je v tom velký kus nostalgie. Při poslechu "And Darker It Shall Become" se mi vrací spousta vzpomínek. Jakoby se při každém společném setkání zatáhlo celé nebe, mraky padaly na zem a déšť byl studený jako ruka dávno zpuchřelé mrtvoly. V tomhle případě je více než kdy jindy jasné, že je lepší poslouchat, než psát slova, která stejně nedokáží nikdy přesně vyjádřit celkovou atmosféru alba. Ta je děsivě podmanivá, tajemná, připomíná starodávné čarodějnické procesy. Vstal jsem dnes ráno velmi brzy, probudily mě staré noční můry. Najednou jsme stáli u hřbitovní zdi všichni. Zase jsme byli mladí, plní síly a z přehrávače nám hrála  tahle deska. Kýváme se spokojeně do rytmu a řveme do tmy! Old school swedish black thrash death metalové album, které probudí i nemrtvé! Temné a chladné ozvěny ze záhrobí!

A group of us used to go from the housing estate to a dark place behind the cemetery wall. It was the 1990s and we liked beer as much as beautiful girls and raw metal. Cassettes in the player, denim vests, hair halfway down our backs. It used to be a time of youth, discovery and music that remained encoded in our souls forever. A lot of water has flowed in the Styx River and some of us are already lying in the cemetery several meters underground.

All we had left was the hope that during our underground wanderings we would meet another band that could cut to the quick. If you have a similar history as me, then you are certainly familiar with the Swedish darkies KORP. The gentlemen have been active on the scene since 1996 and still proudly hold the flag with a skull and crossbones high. The band is back, stronger than ever. Old school sound, honest riffs, venomous vocals. When it gets dark, I'll head back to the cemetery wall. This time I'll go alone. There's no more of us left.


For me, such records are personal statements. Sharply chopped thrash metal, dark death metal and cold black metal, you can find all of this here, mixed together in a terrifying ratio. The songs are very well written, and what's more, a certain kind of mystery winds through the entire record like a very poisonous snake. I sit down on a wooden bench again, right next to the tombstone with the names of the damned. This is where this music belongs and has always belonged. Do you also feel that ancient power, pressure and energy? I do, but it must be added right away that I definitely don't have a clear view, because you know, I don't listen to music with my ears anymore, but rather with my heart. We are simply of the same blood with KORP. We perceive the smell of rot in a very similar way. Of course, there is a lot of nostalgia in it. When listening to "And Darker It Shall Become", a lot of memories come back to me. As if at every meeting together the whole sky would be overcast, clouds would fall to the ground and the rain would be cold like the hand of a long-decayed corpse. In this case, it is more clear than ever that it is better to listen than to write words, which can never accurately express the overall atmosphere of the album anyway. It is terrifyingly captivating, mysterious, reminiscent of ancient witch trials. I got up very early this morning, old nightmares woke me up. Suddenly we were all standing by the cemetery wall. We were young again, full of strength and this record was playing on the player. We sway contentedly to the rhythm and roar into the darkness! Old school Swedish black thrash death metal album that will wake up even the undead! Dark and cold echoes from the afterlife!

Bylo na čase za sebou zavřít dveře. Odebrat se do jiného světa, do další dimenze. Ten současný mi přijde příliš divný, je v něm moc zla. Raději odlétám na planetu, kde se hraje jenom death metal a thrash té nejlepší kvality. Žádné pózy, zbytečnosti, žádné fotky v lesklých metalových časopisech. Jenom pivo, krásný holky a na kost ohlodaná muzika, která má v sobě pradávnou sílu. MORTAL SCEPTER vydali nové album a opět mě zasáhli přímo na solar plexus.

Tady zkrátka nic nikde nepřebývá ani nechybí. Vracíme se spolu s kapelou po časové ose zpět, do doby, kdy jsme chodívali po městě v džínových bundách s kazetovými přehrávači na ramenou. Zdar, jak se máš, dáš si pivo? Sedávali jsme na periferii jako nějací vyděděnci a užívali si sílu mládí. A také muziku, která tenkrát hýbala celým světem. Francouzi nás na jeden takový výlet do minulosti vzali. A udělali to s grácií a elegancí starých mistrů. Také cítíte z novinky drive a sílu jako já? 


Jasně že to není nic nového, ani převratného. Hraje se tu zkrátka postaru, s krvavou jiskrou v oku. MORTAL SCEPTER ale nejsou jenom jen dnes tolik častou kopií věcí minulých. Kapela se snaží přidávat i kus sebe samých, vlastní invence. Nutno rovnou dodat, že se jim to daří na výbornou. Pokud máte rádi kapely jako MASSACRA, SODOM, POSSESSED, DARK ANGEL, KREATOR, SEPULTURA, LOUDBLAST, MERCYLESS, AGRESSOR, jste na správné adrese. Novince nechybí potřebná agrese, rychlost. Jednotlivé skladby jsou propracované, mají perfektní řezající zvuk (recorded and mixed by Raph Henry, mastered by Benoît Roux) i velmi povedený motiv na obalu, který mě samozřejmě volně inspiroval k úvodu dnešní recenze (autorem je Jon Whiplash). "Ethereal Dominance" je přesně tím druhem nahrávky, která postupně zraje, neustále jsem objevoval nové a nové motivy, temné a chladné pasáže. Jakoby do mě někdo zabodl ostrý nůž. Přímo do břicha. Jsem moc rád, že jsem za sebou zase jednou zavřel dveře a odešel do jiné dimenze. Jsem s novinku spokojený, aplikuji ji na sebe cestou do práce, po divokých nocích, užívám si ji v pátek večer, když usedám s pivem ke svému přehrávači. Jsou zkrátka alba, o kterých jenom napíšu a potom ta, ke kterých se rád a často vracím. Je něco neklidného, opravdového, reálného, uvěřitelného, co mě na téhle desce stále přitahuje. Francouzi jsou letos opět ve skvělé formě. Nezbývá než poslat všechny debily do horoucích pekel a přidat volume pořádně doprava. Pokud máte tenhle styl rádi, neváhejte ani chvilku. Myslím si, že budete spokojeni stejně jako já. Ostrý, divoký, drtivý thrash death metalový koktejl s temně podmanivou atmosférou! Vaše tělo i mysl budou rozsekány!

It was time to close the door behind him. To go to another world, another dimension. The current one seems too strange, too much evil. I'd rather go to a planet where only death metal and thrash of the best quality is played. No posing, no uselessness, no pictures in glossy metal magazines. Just beer, beautiful girls and bone-chewing music that has ancient power. MORTAL SCEPTER released a new album and hit me right on the solar plexus again.

There is simply nothing missing or lacking here. Together with the band we go back in time, back to the days when we used to walk around town in denim jackets with cassette players on our shoulders. Hey, how you doing, you want a beer? We used to sit on the periphery like outcasts, enjoying the power of youth. And the music that moved the world back then. The French took us on one such trip back in time. And they did it with the grace and elegance of the old masters. Do you also feel the drive and power of the news as I do?


Of course it's nothing new or groundbreaking. It's just old-fashioned, with a bloody twinkle in its eye. But MORTAL SCEPTER isn't just a copy of things past that are so common nowadays. The band also tries to add a piece of themselves, their own inventiveness. It must be added that they succeed in this to a great extent. If you like bands like MASSACRA, SODOM, POSSESSED, DARK ANGEL, KREATOR, SEPULTURA, LOUDBLAST, MERCYLESS, AGRESSOR, you've come to the right place. The newcomer doesn't lack the necessary aggression, speed. The individual tracks are polished, have a perfect cutting sound (recorded and mixed by Raph Henry, mastered by Benoît Roux) and a very hilarious cover motif, which of course freely inspired me to start today's review (by Jon Whiplash). "Ethereal Dominance" is exactly the kind of record that gradually matures, I kept discovering new and new motifs, dark and cold passages. It's like someone stuck a sharp knife in me. Right in my stomach. I'm so glad I closed the door behind me once again and went to another dimension. I'm happy with the novelty, I apply it to myself on the way to work, after wild nights, I enjoy it on Friday nights when I sit down with a beer to my player. In short, there are albums that I just write about and then those that I like to come back to often. There's something restless, real, believable, that still draws me to this record. The French are in great form again this year. Nothing to do but send all the assholes to burning hell and add volume properly to the right. If you like this style, don't hesitate a moment. I think you'll be as happy as I am. A sharp, fierce, crushing thrash death metal cocktail with a darkly captivating atmosphere! Your body and mind will be shredded!

Potřebuješ další dávku. Víc krve, víc násilí, víc sexu. Bez dopaminu jsi jen tělo bez duše, bloudící temnými ulicemi vlastních myšlenek. Měli by obnovit veřejné popravy, přemýšlíš nahlas a ztrácíš se v naprosté tmě. Spojeni sítěmi ztrácíme vlastní identitu. Pohodujeme v davu. Nakupuj a nebo zemři! Žijeme v podivném falešném světě a nemůže za to nikdo jiný, než my sami. Nudí nás reálné záběry z války, pitvy i znásilnění. Je něco zkaženého v nás samých a je potřeba to vyříznout. Jsou kapely, které tohle umí. Polské TERRORDOME sleduji již delší dobu.

Pokaždé dostanu poctivou porci nahrubo nasekaného thrash metalu, s lehkými prvky crossoveru. Letos v temnější, propracovanější podobě. Novinku jsem slyšel poprvé, když zrovna ve zprávách bombardovali nevinné obyvatelstvo. Žádné slitování, hořící domy i lidé. Utrhané paže, zohavené obličeje. Kurva, tenhle svět se fakt řítí do záhuby. Nové album pro mě tak bylo vyloženě nutností, abych si zachoval poslední zbytky zdravého rozumu. Tahle smečka rozzuřených thrash metalových psů útočí napřímo, bez kompromisů, přesto s chladnými melodiemi. Shoříte zevnitř a nebo skočíte do mosh-pitu!


Pokud se ti líbí ukázky jejich tvorby, určitě si přečti i rozhovor a recenzi na minulé album "Straight Outta Smogtown". Obojí je odkazováno dole pod dnešním článkem. Osobně mi chybí do sbírky už jenom koncert a doufám, že to brzy napravím. Musí to být nářez. Někde v malém klubu, s pivem v ruce, bych si rád zařval spolu s kapelou. Vždycky se mi líbil jejich zvuk (letos se o něj postaral Tomasz Zalewski), který je ostrý, divoký, živočišný a dobře čitelný. Vyniknou tak perfektně všechny nástroje a album získalo na ještě větší uvěřitelnosti a opravdovosti. Povedl se ale i motiv na obalu (Marcin “Biauy” Białkowski), který mě samozřejmě volně inspiroval k úvodním slovům dnešního článku. Člověk má mnohokrát pocit, že apokalypsa již dávno začala. Nejvíc se mi osvědčil poslech ve sluchátkách, když jsem se toulal po periferii našeho města. Šedivý beton, jedovaté továrny, lidé s úsměvy z reklam, umělý plast ve rtech, faleš a lež. Politici nám zase slibují lepší život a následně zvednou daně. A tak jen přežíváš a snažíš se být dobrým člověkem. Někde uvnitř v tobě ale dřímá a doutná frustrace. Občas se potřebuješ vykřičet, bouchnout do stolu, zbourat zeď nebo dát pěstí nějakému hajzlovi. Já rozhodně nepotřebuji terapii, ani drahé léky. Mám nové album "Plagued With Violence", které mě vždy nabije temnou energií a velkou silou. TERRORDOME tentokrát více sází na syrovost, absolutní tmu. Musím říct, že se jim sázka vydařila. Novinka řeže tou správnou stranou nože a nastavuje zrcadlo našim vlastním zvráceným myšlenkám. V tomhle stylu si již velmi vybírám a téhle smečce věřím každý tón, každou notu, každý úder bicích i výkřik do tmy. Potřebuješ další dávku. Víc krve, víc násilí, víc sexu. Bez dopaminu jsi jen tělo bez duše, bloudící temnými ulicemi vlastních myšlenek. Temný, syrový thrash metalový útok, který vás strhne do hlubiny! Muzika, u které odpadává maso od kostí a která se vám zadře hluboko do podvědomí!

The new album was a necessity for me to preserve the last remnants of my sanity. This pack of angry thrash metal dogs attacks directly, without compromise, yet with cold melodies. You'll burn from the inside or jump into the mosh pit!

Personally, the only thing missing from my collection is a concert, and I hope to remedy that soon. It must be awesome. Somewhere in a small club, with a beer in my hand, I'd love to shout along with the band. I've always liked their sound (this year provided by Tomasz Zalewski), which is sharp, wild, animalistic, and easy to understand. It allows all the instruments to stand out perfectly and gives the album even more credibility and authenticity. The cover art (Marcin "Biauy" Białkowski) is also great, which of course loosely inspired the opening words of today's article. One often has the feeling that the apocalypse began long ago. I found it best to listen to it on headphones while wandering around the outskirts of our city. Gray concrete, toxic factories, people with smiles from advertisements, artificial plastic in their lips, falsehood and lies. Politicians promise us a better life and then raise taxes. And so you just survive and try to be a good person. But somewhere inside you, frustration lies dormant and smolders. Sometimes you need to scream, bang on the table, tear down a wall, or punch some asshole. I definitely don't need therapy or expensive medication. I have a new album, "Plagued With Violence", which always charges me with dark energy and great strength. This time, TERRORDOME is betting more on rawness, absolute darkness. I have to say that their gamble paid off. The new album cuts with the right side of the knife and holds up a mirror to our own twisted thoughts. I'm very selective in this style, and I believe every tone, every note, every drum beat, and every scream into the darkness from this pack. You need another dose. More blood, more violence, more sex. Vážení pozůstalí, sešli jsme se zde, abychom zavzpomínali na starý, prašivý thrash a speed metal. Na muziku, která vládla světu před mnoha lety a vrací se ve vlnách jako bouře. Tentokrát se vydáme do Mexika, do města Guadalajara. Tam, v roce 2021 vznikla kapela PHANTOM, která uctívá staré modly. Letos na nás zaútočila svým druhým, řadovým dlouhohrajícím albem, které je po okraj narvané tlakem, energií a divokými melodiemi.

Nezbývá, než znovu obléknout džínovou vestu. Sednout si k reproduktorům, otočit volume úplně doprava a nechat se unášet na krvavých vlnách hudby, která kdysi dávno utvářela i můj hudební pohled na svět. Plameny zase jednou hoří jasně. Rovnou na začátek vám prozradím, že "Tyrants Of Wrath" je zběsilou jízdou přímo do pekla. Pokud máte tuhle odrůdu metalu rádi, rozhodně neváhejte. 


Mexičané na to jdou ve stylu SLAYER, LIVING DEATH, MERCILESS, DARK ANGEL, RAZOR. A dělají to velmi uvěřitelně, s vlastními nápady a invencí. Pokaždé, když mi hrálo nové album do uší, začal jsem se nejdříve kývat do rytmu, abych nakonec skončil v nekonečném headbangingu. Všechno kolem může klidně hořet, mě je to dávno jedno. Mám svoji muziku, svůj vlastní svět. "Tyrants Of Wrath" jsem si pokaždé neskutečně užil. Jasně, nejedná se o nic nového, ani převratného, někdo by tuhle muziku označil za obyčejné retro, jenže tak tomu rozhodně není. Z téhle smečky totiž slyším nadšení, odhodlání, uvěřitelnost i autenticitu. Neznám nic lepšího, než se toulat prázdnými ulicemi našeho města a poslouchat tuhle desku. Užívám si všechnu tu starobu, nadšení, takovou tu nakumulovanou energii a tlak, které v sobě dobré nahrávky mívají. Je to jako v dobách mého mládí, dojdu až na sídliště. Sedí tam na betonovém soklu mí kamarádi. Co posloucháš? Vyměníme si kazety a zajdeme na pivo. Škoda, že je od nás Mexiko tak daleko, ihned bych zašel na koncert. Stál bych přímo pod pódiem a určitě bych skočil i do mosh-pitu. Možná bych si polámal všechny kosti a rozdrtil ksicht, ale nevadilo by mi to. Poslouchat tohle album je totiž jako srážka s náklaďákem naloženým prašivými kostmi. Atmosféra mě opravdu zcela pohltila a poslech si neskutečně užívám. To je pro mě vždy hlavní a zásadní. Dejte mi někdo pivo a zapněte znovu play! Vážení pozůstalí, sešli jsme se zde, abychom zavzpomínali... Thrash speed metal s podmanivě temnou atmosférou, který vás nasměřuje přímo do pekla!

Dear mourners, we have gathered here to remember the old, mangy thrash and speed metal. The music that ruled the world many years ago and is now returning in waves like a storm. This time, we're heading to Mexico, to the city of Guadalajara. There, in 2021, the band PHANTOM was formed, worshipping the old idols. This year, they attacked us with their second full-length album, which is packed to the brim with pressure, energy, and wild melodies.

All that's left to do is put on a denim vest again. The Mexicans do it in the style of SLAYER, LIVING DEATH, MERCILESS, DARK ANGEL, RAZOR. And they do it very believably, with their own ideas and inventiveness. Every time I listened to a new album, I started swaying to the rhythm at first, only to end up in endless headbanging. Everything around me can burn, I don't care anymore. I have my music, my own world. I enjoyed "Tyrants Of Wrath" immensely every time. Sure, it's nothing new or groundbreaking, some would call this music ordinary retro, but that's definitely not the case. From this pack, I hear enthusiasm, determination, credibility, and authenticity. I know of nothing better than wandering the empty streets of our city and listening to this album. I enjoy all the old age, enthusiasm, accumulated energy, and pressure that good recordings tend to have. It's like in my youth, when I would walk to the housing estate. My friends would be sitting there on a concrete pedestal. What are you listening to? We would swap cassettes and go for a beer. It's a shame that Mexico is so far away from us, I would go to a concert right away. I would stand right under the stage and definitely jump into the mosh pit. Maybe I'd break all my bones and smash my face, but I wouldn't mind. Listening to this album is like being hit by a truck loaded with rotten bones. The atmosphere really engrossed me and I'm enjoying listening to it immensely. That's always the most important thing for me. Someone give me a beer and press play again! Ave EXECUTION! First of all, I have to pay tribute to your latest album „Camisole“. I haven't heard such a powerful and crazy album in a long time. I have it at home, in my car, and at work, in various formats, and I listen to it whenever I need some new energy. How satisfied are you with the album now that some time has passed, and what has the reaction been like from fans?

Bruno: Thank you and your support. I can't really answer your question right now. The album is out on Great Dane Records but not yet distributed by Season of Mist, the official release date for them is June 13th. We'll have a release party on June 14th and see how the public reacts. Yes, we understand that there are things that could have been better.


In my opinion, the new album is perfect in every way. The sound, the ideas, the cover are all great. How does EXECUTION compose and how did the new album come about? It seems to me that you have a different lineup of musicians on every album. Who has the final say in the band and is the one who says, "This song is good, so let's keep it"?

For this album, we decided to put as much as possible around the album. The cover too. We did a lot of test recording. Some tracks are old but reworked with the whole band. It's a story, a concept. So the music follows the lyrics, to give an emotion. We work together with the ideas of the lyrics for the atmosphere.

"Camisole" has a harsh, brutal sound. Raw and rough. At the same time, it's piercing and cold. Where did you record the album? And who is responsible for the mastering? I really like that the sound is organic, so real. You avoided the "artificiality" and "over-the-topness" that some bands unfortunately tend to have nowadays.

We talked and we didn't want to sound like everyone else today. Too modern, clean, and fluid, no. We wanted that raw, old-school feel. But not too old either. A lot of albums sound the same today. We have a keyboard that brings melody, and the vocals are aggressive. We have the underground spirit.


It's clear that in death/black/thrash metal, lyrics often take a back seat. How do you perceive the content of the lyrics and how are they created in EXECUTION? What are they about on the new album and what influenced them?

This story is the sequel to our album ETERNAL DREAMS. The same character is interned in an asylum. His reality is alternate. The first track, BLACK TOMB, is his vision: he sees the hospital as a tomb. He crosses the doors of the asylum. If you want BLACK TOMB would be a dark hospital. After the rest of the album he is in an isolation room and undergoes analysis and care. But there are two realities, the one everyone sees and his own. He creates his story, his fears, and he sinks lower and lower each time.

If I'm not mistaken, EXECUTION dates back to 1989. How do you perceive that time? Together with other bands, you were at the birth of something new that had never been here before. Your history is full of interesting albums that rightfully belong in every fan's golden collection. I just wonder why there aren't more recordings? Three full-length albums in 36 years isn't exactly a lot. How do you explain that and what is the reason for it?

Yes, you're right, EXECUTION is an old band, November 1989. It's a long story, I'll keep it short. I'm the only survivor of the first lineup. After that, Abigail, our guitarist, arrived 9 months after the band's creation, but we can say he was there from the beginning, right? At the beginning, we did it quickly; two demos and a vinyl album in 1992. Too quickly. I think we were still looking for the band's identity. And it's since 1995 that we found our personality. We took Sophie with us on keyboards and vocals. We released ETERNAL DREAMS in 1999. A complex album. We had a lot of changes of drummers and secondary guitarists. It was hell for us. We played shows and prepared an album, but each time a member left the band or was fired . It was the era of studios, real studios? No Cubase or Pro Tools. We had to spend as little time as possible in the studio. Time cost money. It must be said that we have two entire albums that are not recorded. But we made backups, a 9-track album "DYING ALONE" with Abigail. We keep the idea of ​​doing it one day with retouches from the current band. Another album without a name, 8 tracks, with complicated and sometimes long titles. Today, we could do it with this line-up, more professional than before. And that's our next project, 4 of these tracks with 4 new titles.


I love your country, culture, monuments, and beautiful girls. In recent years, however, France has also been a veritable treasure trove of good metal music. You approach music a little differently than others. I like SVART CROWN, DEATHSPELL OMEGA, but also veterans MERCYLESS, MORTUARY, newcomers RITUALIZATION, SKELETHAL... there are so many great bands – how is that possible? Is it the wine? :) Do you have any other tips for us? Do you see any differences between concerts elsewhere in Europe and in your country?

I don't know if it's the wine. It's just that there are a lot more bands in France in recent years. And more professional bands than before. It's much easier to learn music today with the internet, tutorials... In the 90s, you had to work on your guitar or drum lessons alone in your little room, waiting to see your guitar teacher again the following week (lol), an eternity... But personally, I find that there are still amateur bands everywhere in Europe, and that there are still some today.

Death/thrash/black metal isn't exactly a style that's in the spotlight of fans' interest. That makes support all the more important. From the old days, I remember that you supported your favorite band by buying CDs, T-shirts, and going to concerts. But times have changed. The world is ruled by the internet and music downloads. How do you, as a band, perceive these changes? Have you had to adjust the way you operate? What about your fans, are they different too?

Yes, everything has changed, but the Death Metal scene still has fans who like to have CDs, vinyls, t-shirts, etc. I prefer to buy real CDs and vinyls, it's better than a link. But that's my opinion. We still have long-time fans and new ones.

What does music mean to you? What is it like to play extreme metal from a musician's perspective? What do you like about it and what don't you like? You can also look at this question from a philosophical point of view. Is thrash/black death metal more of a hobby or a lifestyle for you?

It's my life, my lifestyle since I was 13, when I discovered AD/DC with Highway to Hell. I immediately loved the music and the world of hard rock. The cover was fantastic for a 13-year-old kid. and then I discovered a lot of bands. and the evolution towards heavy, speed, thrash, and death. a bit like many of us. the world of IRON MAIDEN with magnificent covers. and I loved the evolution of Metal, ANVIL "metal on metal", RAVEN, VENOM, BATHORY, METALLICA, SLAYER, EXODUS, and then DEATH, POSSESSED and MORBID ANGEL.I formed my first band at 16, playing guitar with friends, "ENFER" (hell). But those were the rehearsals in my bedroom. Then I formed BAD DEVILS, still on guitar. But we had a singer who didn't want to sing, a real problem. He pretended to be a singer, a fan of MÔTLEY CRUE, POISON... but without the voice, lol. So, I have guitar and vocals...When I formed EXECUTION, I decided to only do the vocals.


It's been 36 years since EXECUTION was founded. You are a household name on the scene, you have loyal fans, you perform at concerts. Is there anything else you want to achieve as a band? What are your goals for the future?

We're going to play shows to promote the album "CAMISOLE" and write songs. We won't be here forever. 36 years is already a long time.

During EXECUTION, we participated in side projects. I was the vocalist for the black metal band BEAUTY OF DESOLATION; we released two CDs, "World Agony" and "Cold Emotions," and Abigail was the frontman of SEAEARTH and one album, "Sea of Lava."

And what are your plans for the coming months? What can fans look forward to? If you have a message for them, for labels, for promoters, here's the space...

Ave EXECUTION! Hned na úvod musím vyseknout poklonu před vaším posledním albem „Camisole“. Už dlouho jsem neslyšel tak natlakovanou a šílenou desku. Mám ji doma, v autě i v práci, v různých formátech a poslouchám ho pokaždé, když potřebuji novou energii. Jak jste s albem spokojeni s odstupem vy a jaké jsou reakce od fanoušků?

Bruno: Děkuji za vaši podporu. Momentálně nemohu na vaši otázku odpovědět. Album vychází u Great Dane Records, ale zatím není distribuováno Season of Mist. Oficiální datum vydání je 13. června. 14. června uspořádáme release party a uvidíme, jak na něj veřejnost zareaguje. Ano, chápeme, že některé věci mohly být lepší.


Podle mě je novinka dokonalým albem vlastně po všech stránkách. Skvělý je zvuk, nápady, cover. Jakým způsobem EXECUTION skládají a jak konkrétně vznikalo nové album? Přijde mi, že snad u každé desky máte jinou sestavu muzikantů. Kdo má hlavní slovo v kapele a je tím, kdo řekne – tahle je ta skladba dobrá, tak ji necháme?

Pro toto album jsme se rozhodli dát do něj co nejvíce. I obal. Udělali jsme spoustu zkušebních nahrávek. Některé skladby jsou staré, ale přepracované s celou kapelou. Je to příběh, koncept. Hudba tak následuje texty, aby vyvolala emoce. Spolupracujeme s nápady textů, abychom vytvořili atmosféru.

„Camisole“ má drsný brutální zvuk. Syrový a surový. Zároveň průrazný a chladný. Kde jste album nahrávali? A kdo je podepsán pod masteringem? Mně se hrozně líbí, že je zvuk organický, takový reálný, vyhnuli jste se „umělosti“ a „přeřvanosti“, jak to bohužel mají některé kapely dnes ve zvyku.

Povídali jsme si a nechtěli jsme znít jako všichni ostatní dneska. Příliš moderně, čistě a plynule, ne. Chtěli jsme ten syrový, oldschoolový feeling. Ale taky ne příliš starý. Hodně alb dneska zní stejně. Máme klávesy, které přinášejí melodii, a vokály jsou agresivní. Máme undergroundového ducha.


Je jasné, že u death/black/thrash metalu bývají často texty na druhé koleji. Jak vnímáš obsah textů ty a jakým způsobem vznikají u EXECUTION? O čem jsou na nové desce a čím byly ovlivněny?

Tento příběh je pokračováním našeho alba ETERNAL DREAMS. Stejná postava je internována v ústavu. Jeho realita je alternativní. První skladba, BLACK TOMB, je jeho vize: vidí nemocnici jako hrobku. Prochází dveřmi ústavu. Pokud chcete, BLACK TOMB by byla temná nemocnice. Po zbytku alba se nachází v izolační místnosti a podstupuje analýzu a péči. Existují však dvě reality, ta, kterou vidí všichni, a ta jeho vlastní. Vytváří svůj příběh, své obavy a pokaždé klesá níže a níže.

Jestli se nepletu, EXECUTION datují svůj vznik do roku 1989. Jak tu dobu vnímáš ty? Stáli jste spolu s ostatními kapelami u zrodu něčeho nového, co zde ještě nebylo. Vaše historie je plná zajímavých alb, které patří právem do zlaté sbírky každého fanouška. Jen si říkám, proč těch nahrávek není víc? Tři dlouhohrající desky za 36 let není zrovna moc. Čím si to vysvětluješ a co je toho příčinou?

Ano, máš pravdu, EXECUTION je stará kapela, založená v listopadu 1989. Je to dlouhý příběh, takže to zkrátím. Jsem jediný přeživší z původní sestavy. Poté, devět měsíců po založení kapely, přibyl náš kytarista Abigail, ale dá se říct, že byl u toho od začátku, že? Na začátku jsme to udělali rychle; dvě dema a vinylové album v roce 1992. Příliš rychle. Myslím, že jsme stále hledali identitu kapely. A teprve v roce 1995 jsme našli svou osobnost. Přibrali jsme Sophie na klávesy a zpěv. V roce 1999 jsme vydali ETERNAL DREAMS. Komplexní album. Měli jsme spoustu změn bubeníků a druhých kytaristů. Bylo to pro nás peklo. Hráli jsme koncerty a připravovali album, ale pokaždé někdo odešel z kapely nebo byl vyhozen. Byla to éra studií, skutečných studií? Žádný Cubase nebo Pro Tools. Museli jsme strávit co nejméně času ve studiu. Čas stál peníze. Je třeba říci, že máme dvě celá alba, která nejsou nahraná. Ale udělali jsme zálohy, 9skladbové album „DYING ALONE“ s Abigail. Stále máme v plánu ho jednoho dne vydat s úpravami od současné kapely. Další album bez názvu, 8 skladeb, se složitými a někdy dlouhými názvy. Dnes bychom to mohli udělat s touto sestavou, která je profesionálnější než dříve. A to je náš další projekt, 4 z těchto skladeb se 4 novými názvy.


Miluji vaši zemi, kulturu, památky, i krásné dívky. Poslední roky je ale Francie také doslova studnicí dobré metalové muziky. Jdete na hudbu trošku jiným způsobem, než ostatní. Mám rád SVART CROWN, DEATHSPELL OMEGA, ale i veterány MERCYLESS, MORTUARY, nováčky RITUALIZATION, SKELETHAL…těch skvělých kapel je spousta – jak je to možné? Je to vínem?:). Máš pro nás nějaké další tipy? Vidíš třeba nějaké rozdíly mezi koncerty jinde v Evropě a u vás?

Nevím, jestli je to vínem. Jenomže v posledních letech je ve Francii mnohem víc kapel. A více profesionálních kapel než dříve. Dnes je mnohem snazší naučit se hrát na hudební nástroj díky internetu, tutoriálům... V 90. letech jste museli cvičit na kytaru nebo bicí sami ve svém pokoji a čekat, až se příští týden znovu setkáte se svým učitelem kytary (lol), což byla věčnost... Ale osobně si myslím, že v Evropě jsou stále všude amatérské kapely a že některé existují dodnes.

Death/thrash/black metal není zrovna styl, který by byl na výsluní zájmu fanoušků. O to víc záleží na podpoře. Ze starých časů mám zafixováno, že oblíbená skupina se podporuje koupí CD, trika, zajde se na koncert. Jenže doba se změnila. Světu vládne internet, stahování hudby. Jak vnímáte tyto změny vy, jako kapela? Museli jste nějak upravit své fungování? Co fanoušci, jsou také jiní?

Ano, všechno se změnilo, ale death metalová scéna má stále fanoušky, kteří mají rádi CD, vinyly, trička atd. Já raději kupuji skutečná CD a vinyly, je to lepší než odkaz. Ale to je jen můj názor. Stále máme dlouholeté fanoušky i nové.

Co pro tebe znamená muzika? Jaké to je z pohledu muzikanta hrát extrémní metal? Co se ti ta tom líbí a co nemáš rád? Můžeš na tuhle otázku podívat i z filozofického hlediska. Je pro tebe thrash/black death metal, spíše koníčkem nebo životním stylem?

Je to můj život, můj životní styl od 13 let, kdy jsem objevil AD/DC s albem Highway to Hell. Okamžitě jsem si zamiloval hudbu a svět hard rocku. Obal alba byl pro 13letého kluka fantastický. Pak jsem objevil spoustu kapel a vývoj směrem k heavy, speed, thrash a death metalu. Trochu jako mnoho z nás. Svět IRON MAIDEN s nádhernými obaly. Miloval jsem vývoj metalu, ANVIL „metal on metal“, RAVEN, VENOM, BATHORY, METALLICA, SLAYER, EXODUS a pak DEATH, POSSESSED a MORBID ANGEL. V 16 letech jsem založil svou první kapelu, hrál jsem na kytaru s přáteli, „ENFER“ (peklo). Ale to byly jen zkoušky v mém pokoji. Pak jsem založil BAD DEVILS, stále jako kytarista. Ale měli jsme zpěváka, který nechtěl zpívat, což byl opravdový problém. Předstíral, že je zpěvák, fanoušek MÔTLEY CRUE, POISON... ale bez hlasu, lol. Takže jsem měl kytaru a zpěv... Když jsem založil EXECUTION, rozhodl jsem se věnovat pouze zpěvu.


Od založení EXECUTION uběhlo 36 let. Jste pojem na scéně, máte věrné fanoušky, vystupujete na koncertech. Je ještě něco, čeho chcete jako kapela dosáhnout? Jaké máte cíle do budoucna?

Budeme hrát koncerty na podporu alba „CAMISOLE“ a psát nové písničky. Nebudeme tu věčně. 36 let je už dlouhá doba.

Během EXECUTION jsme se účastnili i vedlejších projektů. Já jsem byl zpěvákem black metalové kapely BEAUTY OF DESOLATION; vydali jsme dvě CD, „World Agony“ a „Cold Emotions“, a Abigail byl frontmanem SEAEARTH a jednoho alba, „Sea of Lava“.

A co chystáte v nejbližších měsících? Na co se mohou fanoušci těšit? Pokud máš pro ně, pro labely, pro promotéry nějaký vzkaz, tak zde je prostor…
