Ve vzduchu je již několik let cítit strach. Lidé se spolu už vůbec nescházejí, nespí spolu. Zahleděni do obrazovek, uvězněni ve vlastních představách nechali stroje, aby za nás začaly přemýšlet. Apokalypsa přišla pomalu, plíživě. Nejdříve vymřela skoro všechna zvířata a všem to bylo, ostatně jako vždycky, úplně jedno. Iluze a prázdná slova dávno zvítězili nad realitou. Přestaly se rodit děti a dodnes nikdo neví, kdo byl první. Kdo porušil přikázání nezabiješ? Ulice jsou plné mrtvých a ti, co přežili, mají v očích vztek a nenávist. Ne, to není žádná dystopie, ani děsivý sen, ale krutá, ošklivá a hnusná pravda.
Již při prvním setkání s novou deskou kanadských death thrash metalových veteránů, jsem si vzpomněl na staré dobré autory sci-fi z osmdesátých let minulého století. Je až neuvěřitelné, kolik z toho, co předpovídali, se splnilo. Trošku mě to děsí, ale hlavní je tu samozřejmě hudba, která je opět velmi propracovaná, technická, zahraná s ohněm v srdci a touhou ničit. Jedná se o záležitost pro všechny, kteří rádi u hudby přemýšlejí. Zároveň v sobě má nové album živočišnost, takový ten drive a sílu, které mám u extrémního metalu tolik rád. SARKASM jsou ve skvělé formě, to vám klidně podepíšu vlastní krví.
O povedeném návratovém albu "As Empires Decay", i starých demonahrávkách z devadesátých let jsem psal (odkaz je uveden dole pod článkem). SARKASM jedou dál, postupně se vyvíjejí a letos nám předkládají desku, která zní zajímavě, neotřele. Kapela opravdu působí, jako znovuzrozená. Jednotlivé skladby jsou velmi dobře napsané, mají jasný cíl, gradují, motivy se vzájemně prolínají, nahrávka mi připomíná živý, samostatný organismus. Jasně, že jsem od začátku chycený a neznám nic lepšího, než procházky po našem průmyslovém městě. V některých částech to již vypadá, že apokalypsa začala. Hudba mi proudí mozkem, usazuje se postupně v žilách, stává se mojí součástí. Má v sobě drive a sílu, takový ten heavy efekt. Povedl se zvuk (producer Maxime Lacroix (Gastrorrexis etc) and mastering Dan Swanö) i obal, ale to se u podobných zkušených veteránů předpokládá. Pokud se vám líbí kapely jako GORGUTS, OBLIVEON, DEATH, PESTILENCE, ABSORBED, BELIEVER, potom jste zde správně. Vlastně by se také dalo napsat, že Kanaďané vydali v podstatě dokonalou desku po všech stránkách. Je velmi dobře napsaná, donutila mě přemýšlet, rozdrásala moji fantazii doslova do krve. Potkává se na ní taková ta tradiční, klasická poctivost, s lehkostí, svěžestí a progresivitou. To vše zabalené způsobem, který je návykový. Dovedu si představit, že bude hrát "Carnival Of Atrocities" všude v ulicích, až začne hořet celý náš svět. Ulice jsou plné mrtvých a ti, co přežili, mají v očích vztek a nenávist. Ne, to není žádná dystopie, ani děsivý sen, ale krutá, ošklivá a hnusná pravda. Technický, propracovaný thrash death metal, po kterém zůstává jenom spálená země! Shoříte v plamenech vlastní nenávisti!

The streets are full of the dead and the survivors have anger and hatred in their eyes. No, this is not a dystopia or a horrible dream, but the cruel, ugly, and nasty truth.
The very first time I encountered the new album from the Canadian death thrash metal veterans, I was reminded of the good old science fiction writers of the 1980s. It's amazing how much of what they predicted has come true. It scares me a bit, but the main thing here is of course the music, which is again very sophisticated, technical, played with fire in the heart and a desire to destroy. This is an affair for those who like to think with music. At the same time, the new album has an animalistic quality to it, the kind of drive and power that I like so much in extreme metal. SARKASM are in great shape, I'll sign it with my own blood.
I wrote about the hilarious comeback album "As Empires Decay", and the old demos from the nineties (link is below the article). SARKASM are moving on, gradually evolving, and this year they present us with a record that sounds interesting and fresh. The band really seems to be reborn. The individual songs are very well written, they have a clear goal, they graduate, the motifs intertwine, the record reminds me of a living, independent organism. Clearly, I'm hooked from the start and I know nothing better than walking around our industrial city. In some parts, it already feels like the apocalypse has begun. Music flows through my brain, settling gradually in my veins, becoming part of me. It has drive and power, a kind of heavy effect. The sound (producer Maxime Lacroix (Gastrorrexis etc) and mastering Dan Swanö) and the cover artwork are good, but that's to be expected with such seasoned veterans. If you like bands like GORGUTS, OBLIVEON, DEATH, PESTILENCE, ABSORBED, BELIEVER, then you've come to the right place. Actually, one could also write that the Canadians have released an essentially perfect record in every aspect. It's very well written, it made me think, it tore my imagination literally to blood. It meets that traditional, classic honesty with lightness, freshness and progressiveness. All wrapped up in a way that is addictive. I imagine "Carnival Of Atrocities" will be playing in the streets everywhere when our whole world is on fire. The streets are filled with the dead and the survivors have rage and hatred in their eyes. No, this is not a dystopia, nor a horrific dream, but the cruel, ugly and nasty truth. Technical, sophisticated thrash death metal that leaves nothing but scorched earth! You will burn in the flames of your own hatred!
