Nejdříve jsem si myslel, že se na mě dívá, že mě sleduje. Jenže dávno neměla oči. Červi snědli skoro všechno maso. Přesto si ji pamatuji. Jaká byla krásná, jak se hezky usmívala. Musel jsem to udělat. Znovu vykopat její tělo a přesvědčit se, že je opravdu mrtvá. Na pohřbu jsem měl totiž pocit, že slyším divné ozvěny. Ťukání na dřevěnou stěnu rakve. Hráli nám k tomu američtí death doomoví GRAVERAPE a smutek se dal krájet.
S kapelou jsme se již setkali v roce 2020, když vydali neméně dobré album "Exhuming Decay". Letos bylo mou povinností znovu přijmout pozvání na smuteční obřad. Tahle hudba je totiž více než vhodná právě pro pochmurné chvíle, jako jsou pohřby, exhumace, případně zpopelnění. "Horrors of Life Eternal" je dalším skvělým morbidním zážitkem. Poslouchejte pozorně, rituál začíná.
Skladby jsou velmi syrové, pokud máte podobnou hudbu rádi, ihned se vám určitě zadře pod kůži, jako mě. Masivní, hutný zvuk, obal plný oběšenců, všudepřítomná smrt. Poslouchat tuhle nahrávku je jako drtit zmrzlé kosti. Jakoby se přede mnou odehrával nějaký starý černobílý film, natočený v mokvajících katakombách. V ledové mlze se potácejí přízraky a kývají souhlasně do rytmu. Přesně takovýto druh rituálu je pořádán každou noc na místním hřbitově. Sklaby zní velmi prašivě, uvěřitelně. Schválně, zkuste strávit jednu dlouhou noc s několika mrtvými těly v márnici. Pouštějte si stále dokola "Horrors of Life Eternal" a garantuji vám, že po nějakém čase uslyšíte šepot nemrtvých, ozvěny ze záhrobí a křik démonů. Nové album muselo být nahráváno hluboko pod zemí, v místech, kde se rodí zlo. V temnotě a chladu, daleko za řekou Styx. U tohoto stylu je hrozně důležitá atmosféra, hnisavé nálady. Musíte věřit melodiím, jednotlivým motivům. GRAVERAPE hrají přesně způsobem, jaký mám tolik rád. Jsou uvěřitelní, opravdoví a smrdí sírou na několik kilometrů. Nejdříve jsem si myslel, že se na mě dívá, že mě sleduje. Jenže dávno neměla oči. Červi snědli už všechno maso. Přesto si ji pamatuji. Jaká byla krásná, jak se hezky usmívala. Před chvílí vstala a prokousla mi hrdlo. Má mě ráda, stejně jako tuhle desku. Je totiž skvělá po všech stránkách. Jako čerstvě vykopaný hrob. Hnisavý, děsivý death metalový výlet do prašivých kobek! Ozvěny ze záhrobí!

Listening to this record is like crushing frozen bones. It's like an old black and white movie playing out in front of me, filmed in the sweltering catacombs. Ghosts stagger through the icy fog, nodding in agreement to the rhythm. This is exactly the kind of ritual that takes place every night in the local cemetery. The chants sound very mangy, believable. Try spending one long night with a few dead bodies in the morgue. Play "Horrors of Life Eternal" over and over again and I guarantee that after a while you'll hear the whispers of the undead, echoes from the beyond and the screams of demons. The new album must have been recorded deep underground, in places where evil is born. In the dark and cold, far beyond the River Styx. The atmosphere is very important in this style, the festering moods. You have to believe in the melodies, the individual motifs. GRAVERAPE play exactly the way I like so much.
