Někde uprostřed starého hřbitova je hrob, který má být exhumován. Je v něm pohřbené pradávné zlo. Prokletý mnich, o kterém se říkalo, že byl bestií. Začnu kopat a mraky jsou najednou nízko. Setmí se a do kostí mi pronikne chlad. Z márnice se ozývají podivné zvuky. Na kamenném náhrobku se objeví krev. Padnu k zemi a poslední co vidím, tak je rozšklebená tvář děsivé příšery. Někdy se to stále stává. Nemrtvé bychom neměli budit.
Jenže já si nemůžu pomoc. Stále mě baví poslouchat death a doom metal, pořád se rád toulám po onom světě s kapelami, jako jsou brazilští maniaci FOSSILIZATION. Ti letos přicházejí se svým prvním dlouhohrajícím albem. Jedná se o volné pokračování vynikajícího EP "He Whose Name Was Long Forgotten" (odkaz na recenzi naleznete dole pod článkem). Hnisavé procesy byly opět zahájeny. Smrt je zase jednou hodně blízko.
Zvuk, obal, produkce, celkové provedení, vše je v podstatě perfektní. Fanoušek jako já se potom může v klidu soustředit na hudbu samotnou. Ta je opět velmi hnilobná, mokvající, podmanivá a nebál bych se napsat i magická. Celá nahrávka připomíná starodávný rituál, seanci, při které potkáte duše zemřelých, budete tančit s přízraky a klanět se démonům. Stylově lze připodobnit novinku tvorbě kapel jako DEAD CONGREGATION, FUNEBRARUM, KRYPTS, ALTARAGE, PHRENELITH, ENFULGED, CRUCIAMENTUM, DISMA, INCANTATION, IGNIMOVOUS. Základem jsou tradiční, klasické postupy, ale Brazilci přidávají i kus vlastní invence a zajímavých nápadů. Nejvíce se mi osvědčil poslech v noci, když bylo všude ticho a ulicemi se toulaly jenom vzpomínky. Na bolest, na chlad. Kroky nás nakonec vždycky zavedou na hřbitov, to je doufám všem jasné. FOSSILIZATION nahráli v podstatě dokonalé album po všech stránkách. Má v sobě obrovské množství černé energie. Mokvá, pálí a žhne a zároveň je studené jako ruka mrtvoly. Chvílemi nevím, jestli se jedná o morbidní sen a nebo krutou realitu. Jsem starým tulákem ve smradlavých močálech. Zdravím se s nemrtvými a kývám jako oni souhlasně hlavou. Ano, "Leprous Daylight" je deskou, která vás pohřbí zaživa. Prokleje a spálí na popel. Někde uprostřed starého hřbitova je hrob, který má být exhumován. Je v něm pohřbené pradávné zlo. There's a grave somewhere in the middle of the old cemetery that's about to be exhumed. An ancient evil is buried there. A cursed monk who was said to be a beast. I start digging, and suddenly the clouds are low. It gets dark and a chill penetrates my bones. Strange noises are coming from the morgue. Blood appears on a stone tombstone. I fall to the ground, and the last thing I see is the grinning face of a horrible monster. Sometimes it happens all the time. We shouldn't wake the undead.
But I can't help myself. I still enjoy listening to death and doom metal, I still like to wander the otherworld with bands like Brazilian maniacs FOSSILIZATION. This year they come with their first full-length album. It is a loose follow-up to the excellent EP "He Whose Name Was Long Forgotten" (link to the review below the article). The festering processes have begun again. Death is once again very close.
The sound, the packaging, the production, the overall execution, everything is basically perfect. A fan like me can then concentrate on the music itself. The latter is again very rotten, moody, captivating and I wouldn't be afraid to write magical. The whole record is reminiscent of an ancient ritual, a séance where you meet the souls of the dead, dance with ghosts and bow to demons. Stylistically, the new album can be likened to the work of bands like DEAD CONGREGATION, FUNEBRARUM, KRYPTS, ALTARAGE, PHRENELITH, ENFULGED, CRUCIAMENTUM, DISMA, INCANTATION, IGNIMOVOUS. Traditional, classical methods are the basis, but Brazilians also add a piece of their own inventiveness and interesting ideas. The most useful for me was listening at night, when it was quiet everywhere and only memories were wandering the streets. The pain, the cold. The footsteps always lead us to the hump in the end, I hope that's clear to everyone. FOSSILIZATION have recorded a virtually perfect album in all aspects. It has a huge amount of black energy in it. It's wet, burning and glowing while being as cold as a dead man's hand. At times I don't know if this is a morbid dream or a harsh reality. I'm an old tramp in a stinking swamp. I greet the undead and nod my head in agreement. Yes, "Leprous Daylight" is the record that will bury you alive. Curses and burns you to ashes.
