Touláme se opuštěnými ulicemi. Utíkáme na hřbitovy, abychom nakonec našli temnotu ve svých zkažených duších. Mám rád kapely, které umí svojí hudbou vytvořit podmanivě chladnou atmosféru. Našlapuji opatrně, lekám se vlastního stínu. Snídám na víku od rakve, abych nakonec pochopil, že je v některých lidech něco zkaženého. Jsou kapely, které umí svojí hudbou znázornit zkaženou krev, ukrývající se uvnitř. Troufám si tvrdit, že britští CROWSBLOOD jsou jedněmi z nich. Letos přicházejí se svojí první demonahrávkou. Je pro mě velkou ctí o ní napsat několik slov.
Skupina vznikla v roce 2023. Dala se dohromady smečka zkušených muzikantů (z OAKENTHRONE, SERENITY, SOLSTICE, GODTHRYMM a dalších), aby nahrála dvě skladby. Mají v sobě ostrý a chladný black metal, syrový smrtící kov i doom metalové ozvěny. Výsledkem je ochutnávka, kterou když pozřete, budete navěky prokleti. Amen!
Mě se to alespoň stalo. Očekával jsem obyčejné retro, kterého je dnes kolem velká spousta. Místo toho jsem dostal hudbu, která koluje i v mých žilách. S parádním chladným zvukem (Engineered, Mixed & Mastered by Dan Mullins). Je syrový, mrazivý a čitelný. Líbí se mi i mrtvolný obal. Oběšenci kývající se ve větru mě vždy fascinovali. Myslím si, že motiv krásně doplňuje morbidní nálady, které se během dvou skladeb vznášejí kolem. Uvnitř melodií je něco zneklidňujícího, jakási černá energie, která se dle mého nedá naučit. Musíte ji mít v sobě, musíte hrát srdcem. CROWSBLOOD se pro mě stali kapelou, která mě velmi překvapila. Samozřejmě, jenom v pozitivním slova smyslu. Oba songy jsou totiž opravdu dobře napsány. Pokud mělo být účelem nechat fanouškům ochutnat nahrubo nasekanou tmu, povedlo se to na výbornou. Toulám se podsvětím již několik dekád. Dal jsem si za úkol, abych v podzemí vyhledával kapely, které si myslím, že stojí za to. U téhle smečky jsem měl jistotu hned od počátku. Jejich hudba mě ihned chytla, sežrala mě, zničila. Lituji jen jediného, že se jedná pouze o demo. Já chci dlouhohrající desku. Myslím si, že na delší hrací ploše vynikne jejich hudba ještě lépe. "The Murder of Crows" má v sobě navíc takovou zvláštní melancholickou náladu (dost často ji lze vystopovat třeba u finských kapel). Venku byla mlha a já jsem se již několik hodin díval do tmy. Nemohl jsem spát, protože CROWSBLOOD se dostali i do mých snů. Utíkal jsem v nich lesem, topil se do močálů, padal do hlubiny. Smrt je velmi blízko. Je čas vstát. Toulám se opuštěnými ulicemi. Utíkám na hřbitov, abych nakonec našel temnotu ve své duši. Temné, mrazivé, black death metalové ozvěny ze země nekonečných stínů!

We wander the deserted streets. We flee to the cemeteries to finally find the darkness in our corrupted souls. I like bands that can create a hauntingly cold atmosphere with their music. I tread carefully, afraid of my own shadow. I breakfast on the lid of a coffin, only to finally realize that there is something corrupt in some people. There are bands that can use their music to portray the corrupted blood hiding inside. I dare say that Britain's CROWSBLOOD are one of them. This year they come with their first demo album. It is a great honour for me to write a few words about it.
The band was formed in 2023. A bunch of experienced musicians (from OAKENTHRONE, SERENITY, SOLSTICE, GODTHRYMM and others) got together to record two tracks. They have sharp and cold black metal, raw death metal and doom metal echoes. The result is a taster that if you devour, you will be cursed forever. Amen!
At least it happened to me. I was expecting the usual retro, of which there is a lot around nowadays. Instead, I got music that runs through my veins. With a cool cool sound (Engineered, Mixed & Mastered by Dan Mullins). It's raw, chilling and clear. I also like the deadpan cover art. Hangmen swaying in the wind has always fascinated me. I think the motif beautifully complements the morbid moods that float around during the two tracks. There's something unsettling inside the melodies, a kind of black energy that I don't think can be taught. You have to have it in you, you have to play with your heart. CROWSBLOOD became a band that surprised me a lot. Of course, only in a positive way. Both songs are really well written. If the purpose was to give the fans a taste of roughly chopped darkness, they succeeded brilliantly. I've been wandering the underworld for decades. I've made it my mission to seek out bands in the underground that I think are worthwhile. With this pack, I was confident from the start. Their music immediately grabbed me, ate me up, destroyed me. My only regret is that this is only a demo. I want a full-length record. I think their music will stand out even better on a longer record. "The Murder of Crows" also has this strange melancholic mood (quite often you can trace it in Finnish bands, for example). It was foggy outside and I had been looking into the darkness for several hours. I couldn't sleep because CROWSBLOOD got into my dreams. I was running in them through the forest, drowning in the swamps, falling into the depths. Death is very close. It's time to wake up. I wander the deserted streets. I run to the cemetery to finally find the darkness in my soul. Dark, freezing, black death metal echoes from the land of endless shadows!
