Někteří lidé si o sobě myslí, že jsou víc, než ostatní. Přitom jsou stejně jako ostatní jenom kusem masa, pochodujícím na smrt. Existuje už jenom tma, utrpení a nenávist. Postavy se skloněnou hlavou v ulicích. Mraky jsou plné smogu a mrtví už nikoho nezajímají. Absolutní nihilismus, říkám si, když poslouchám novou debutovou desku amerických black metalistů BLACK SORCERY. Na první pohled mě zaujal jednoduchý, černobílý obal. Přesně takhle to mám rád, žádné zbytečnosti, nekompromisně a surově.
Kapela je složena ze zkušených muzikantů, působících ve smečkách jako Bog of the Infidel, Sangus, Nefarious a Sorcery. Můžete si tak být jisti, že o kvalitu je postaráno. I pro mě, pro starého psa, je příjemné navštívit kobku s jejich jménem. Není to jenom stylový obal, ale i mrazivý, zničující zvuk (Recorded and mixed by Distorted Forest Studio, Mastered by Enormous Door Mastering), který mě ujistil v tom, že tohle album hoří jasným plamenem.
Pokud jste true fanoušci kapel jako GORGOROTH, BEHEXEN, SARGEIST, ENTHRONED, AZAGHAL, BAPTISM, neváhejte ani chvilku, tihle démoni vám nakopou zadky podobným způsobem. U černého kovu, stejně jako u ostatní extrémní muziky, hodně záleží na tom, jestli mohu kapele jejich morbidní práci věřit. U "Deciphering Torment Through Malediction" zvedám souhlasně palec nahoru, kývám se spokojeně do rytmu a mám hroznou chuť jít vykopat další hrob. Pánové se soustředí na tradiční, klasickou formu, nijak zbytečně neexperimentují a je to moc dobře. Vždycky rád navštívím staré dobré katakomby, pokaždé si víc užiji sound z devadesátých let, než nějaké novátorské kraviny. Dejte mi někdo napít, dneska bude dlouhá noc! Neustále přidávám hlasitost a vzpomínám na pradávné rituály. Podepisuji vám vlastní krví, že pokud máte rádi tmu, s chutí každé ráno uléháte do své oblíbené rakve a není vám cizí žádný hřbitov, budete se vždy rádi vracet i k tomuto albu. Skladby v sobě mají potřebný drive a sílu, takový ten shnilý feeling, který koluje i v mých žilách. BLACK SORCERY sice nepřinášejí nic nového, ani převratného, ale svoje řemeslo zvládají na výbornou. A přidávají i velkou porci svých vlastních nápadů a invence. Venku se setmělo. Je čas. Beru do rukou lopatu a vydávám se za město. Rakev už je připravena. Země je zmrzlá a zabere mi to celou noc. Existuje už jenom tma, utrpení a nenávist. Nihilistický black metal, který vás pohřbí zaživa!

Figures with their heads down in the streets. The clouds are full of smog and no one cares about the dead anymore. Absolute nihilism, I think to myself when I listen to the new debut album of American black metallers BLACK SORCERY. At first glance, I was attracted by the simple, black and white cover. That's exactly how I like it, no uselessness, uncompromising and raw.
The band is composed of experienced musicians, active in packs like Bog of the Infidel, Sangus, Nefarious and Sorcery. So you can be sure that quality is taken care of. Even for me, an old dog, it's nice to visit a dungeon with their name on it. It's not just the stylish cover art, but the chilling, devastating sound (Recorded and mixed by Distorted Forest Studio, Mastered by Enormous Door Mastering) that assures me this album is burning bright.
If you are a true fan of bands like GORGOROTH, BEHEXEN, SARGEIST, ENTHRONED, AZAGHAL, BAPTISM, don't hesitate a moment, these demons will kick your ass in a similar way. With black metal, as with other extreme music, a lot depends on whether I can trust the band with their morbid work. With "Deciphering Torment Through Malediction" I give an approving thumbs up, swaying contentedly to the beat and feeling a terrible urge to go dig another grave. The gentlemen concentrate on the traditional, classic form, they don't experiment unnecessarily and it's very good. I always like to visit the good old catacombs, I always enjoy the 90s sound more than some innovative crap. Somebody get me a drink, it's gonna be a long night tonight! I keep turning up the volume and remembering ancient rituals. I sign with my own blood that if you like the dark, you like to lie down in your favourite coffin every morning and you are no stranger to any cemetery, you will always like to come back to this album. The songs have the necessary drive and power in them, that rotten feeling that runs through my veins as well. BLACK SORCERY may not bring anything new or groundbreaking, but they master their craft to perfection. And they add a big portion of their own ideas and inventiveness. It's getting dark outside. It's time. I pick up my shovel and head out of town. The coffin is ready. The ground is frozen and it will take me all night. There is only darkness, suffering and hatred. Nihilistic black metal that will bury you alive!
