Pořád se nacházím v takovém divném stavu. Nechápu, jak se něco tak hnusného a nelidského jako válka může stát v 21. století. Píšu na svých stránkách často o popraskaných kostech, o exhumovaných hrobech, o pitevnách i záhrobí. Vše myslím samozřejmě s nadsázkou a humorem, ale tentokrát nemůžu. Válka je vždycky zlá a nakonec nemá vítězů. Jenom tisíce zkažených životů. Smrt a beznaděj. Opatrujte se všichni lidé dobré vůle!
Čtyři nové skladby od WOMBBATH v podobě EP "The Weight of Reality" se mi ihned zadřely pod kůži a abych pravdu řekl, tak mi pomohly překonat prvotní šok z toho, co se kolem právě děje. Základem je, jak jinak, pravý, nefalšovaný a ryzí švédský death metal. Přidávány jsou navrch, jak jsme to mohli slyšet již na loňském albu "Agma" (odkaz na recenzi dole pod článkem), chladné, lehce progresivní prvky. Novinka je tak svěží, neotřelá, zajímavá a opravdu skvěle se poslouchá. Kapela zraje každým dalším albem jako dobré víno.
Politika je svinstvo, které mě příliš nezajímá a nevyjadřuji se k ní. Jenže válka je něco jiného. Vyšší level totálního lidského utrpení. Už jsem si myslel, že podobnou situaci já, ani moje děti nikdy nezažijeme. Tohle není virtuální hra s naleštěnými tanky, ale krutá, opravdová plíživá smrt. Bombardování. Špína a krev. Samozřejmě vše pečlivě sleduji, snažím se stejně jako WOMBBATH pomoci jak jen můžu. A ve chvílích, kdy odpočívám, tak s velkou chutí poslouchám právě "The Weight of Reality". EP má tradiční, chřestivý a masivní zvuk. Řezající riffy, ledové melodie, surový vokál. Vše smíchané v jeden zničující celek. Mám před sebou spoustu nových nahrávek na recenze a nakonec volím stejně tuhle desku. Toulám se někde na severu, alespoň na chvilku odpoután od kruté reality všedních dní. V hlubokých temných lesích. S pokorou a nadšením pro dobrou hudbu. Nasávám energii, kterou mi kapela svými songy předává. Je hrozně příjemné být fanouškem. Vznášet se na studených vlnách řeky Styx. Možná stojíme jako lidstvo na rozcestí. Buď budeme svobodní a nebo se zničíme. Přidávám hlasitost a držím palce všem bojovníkům. Švédský death metal proti válce! Devastující mrazivé album!

I'm still in this weird state. I don't understand how something as ugly and inhuman as war can happen in the 21st century. I often write on my website about cracked bones, exhumed graves, autopsies and beyond the grave. I mean it all with hyperbole and humour, of course, but this time I can't. War is always bad and in the end there are no winners. Only thousands of ruined lives. Death and despair. Take care, all you people of good will!
The four new tracks from WOMBBATH in the form of the EP "The Weight of Reality" immediately got under my skin and to be honest, helped me get over the initial shock of what was happening around me. The basis is, as otherwise, true, unadulterated and pure Swedish death metal. Added on top, as we could already hear on last year's album "Agma" (link to the review below the article), are cool, slightly progressive elements. The new album is so fresh, new, interesting and really great to listen to. The band matures with each new album like a fine wine.
Politics is crap I don't care much about and I don't comment on it. But war is something else. A higher level of total human suffering. I never thought I or my children would ever experience a situation like this. This isn't a virtual game with polished tanks, but a cruel, real creeping death. Bombing. Dirt and blood. Of course, I'm keeping a close eye on everything, trying, like WOMBBATH, to help as much as I can. And in the moments when I'm resting, it's "The Weight of Reality" that I listen to with great relish. The EP has a traditional, crunching and massive sound. Cutting riffs, icy melodies, raw vocals. All mixed into one devastating whole. I've got a lot of new records to review and I'm going to go with this one anyway. I'm wandering somewhere in the north, at least for a while detached from the harsh reality of everyday life. In the deep dark woods. With humility and enthusiasm for good music. I'm soaking up the energy that the band transmits through their songs. It's so nice to be a fan. Floating on the cold waves of the river Styx. Maybe we're at a crossroads as a human race. We're either going to be free or we're going to destroy ourselves. I'm turning up the volume and crossing my fingers for all the fighters. Swedish death metal against war! Devastatingly chilling album!
