Někde tam daleko, na severu v lesích, je jedno staré pohřebiště. Byl jsem tam jen několikrát, ale pokaždé jsem cítil a vnímal všemi póry svého těla takovou zvláštní energie. Jakoby se v jednom celku spojila vesmírná energie, pach smrti, věčnosti a nového alba kanadských EGREGORE. Najednou jsem nestál kousek od krvavého oltáře, ale vznášel jsem se v jiné, chladné a nekonečně temné dimenzi. Hudba těchto maniaků je zvláštní, neuchopitelná, nezařaditelná a pro mě osobně neskutečně návyková.
K naprostému pochopení letošní nahrávky musíte splňovat několik požadavků. Musíte mít mysl otevřenou pro nové věci a když budete mít velkou fantazii, tak se do vás zasekne novinka ještě hlouběji. Až do podvědomí. Zapomeňte na ruch velkoměsta, očistěte se od zbytečností. Nechte své myšlenky, jen tak plynout, relaxujte a nechte na sebe jednotlivé skladby působit. Je to spíše pradávná mantra, než jen obyčejná hudba, to vám klidně podepíšu vlastní krví.
Dostanete opravdu velmi pestrou paletu nálad. Od hrubého riffování, ostré záseky, jedovatý black metal, surový death metal, až po meditační, neklidné plochy. To vše zabalené ve velmi dobře čitelném, neklidném zvuku, s motivem na obalu, který přesně doplňuje muziku samotnou. Myslím si, vnímám nové album spíše jako jakýsi pradávný, desetiletími prověřený obřad, než jen obyčejnou desku. Není to rozhodně lehký poslech, nejdříve jsem plul jen tak po povrchu a dokonce mi některé momenty nebyly ani příliš "příjemné". Jenže (a to bych vám také doporučoval) jsem dal nakonec nahrávce čas a rval jsem si jí do hlavy v různých situacích a čase. Nakonec nejvíce vynikla v naprosté tmě, když jsem byl odříznut od všeho okolo. EGREGORE elegantně navazují tam, kde přestaly kapely typu NOCTURNUS, ABSU, SADUS, MORBID ANGEL, INSANITY. A dělají to velice šikovně, inteligentně a se spoustou svých vlastních nápadů a invence. "It Echoes in the Wild" je pro mě ale hlavně albem, které ve mě rozpoutalo spoustu podivných emocí. Často jsem o něm přemýšlel, když jsem si jen tak četl ve starých knihách. Celou nahrávkou se potom jako jedovatý břečťan vine takový zvláštní neklid, který je na jednu stranu velmi přitažlivý, na druhou stranu mi zrychluje tep. Vlastně by se dalo také napsat, že zde platí více než kde jinde, že je lepší poslouchat, toulat se temnými lesy, vystoupat na horu a padat do hlubin, než jen psát nějaká slova, která nikdy nedokáží zprostředkovat úplný a drásavý zážitek. Kanaďané zkrátka a dobře přistupují k hudbě jinak, než ostatní, jsou originální, zajímaví a rozhodně vyniknou mezi ostatními. Nebývám při poslechu doma u přehrávače, ale stojím na starém pohřebišti daleko v lesích na severu. Mystický, okultní, neklidný, nekonečně temný black death metal, který vás vezme na výlet do jiných dimenzí!

Somewhere far away, up north in the woods, there is an old burial ground. I’ve only been there a few times, but each time I felt and sensed a strange energy with every pore of my body. It was as if cosmic energy, the scent of death, eternity, and the new album by the Canadian band EGREGORE had all merged into one. Suddenly, I wasn’t standing near a bloody altar, but floating in another, cold, and infinitely dark dimension. The music of these maniacs is strange, elusive, unclassifiable, and, for me personally, incredibly addictive.
To fully understand this year’s recording, you must meet several requirements. You must have an open mind for new things, and if you have a vivid imagination, the new album will sink even deeper into you. All the way into your subconscious. Forget the hustle and bustle of the big city; purge yourself of all that is superfluous. Let your thoughts just flow freely, relax, and let the individual tracks work their magic on you. It is more of an ancient mantra than just ordinary music I’d gladly sign that with my own blood.
You’ll get a truly diverse range of moods. From heavy riffing, sharp riffs, venomous black metal, and raw death metal, all the way to meditative, restless passages. All of this is wrapped up in a very distinct, unsettling sound, with a cover design that perfectly complements the music itself. I think I perceive the new album more as a kind of ancient, time-tested ritual than just an ordinary record. It’s definitely not an easy listen; at first, I was just skimming the surface, and some moments weren’t even particularly “pleasant” to me. But (and I’d recommend this to you as well) I eventually gave the recording time and forced it into my head in various situations and at different times. In the end, it stood out most in complete darkness, when I was cut off from everything around me. EGREGORE elegantly picks up where bands like NOCTURNUS, ABSU, SADUS, MORBID ANGEL, and INSANITY left off. And they do it very skillfully, intelligently, and with plenty of their own ideas and creativity. For me, however, "It Echoes in the Wild" is above all an album that stirred up a lot of strange emotions within me. I often thought about it while I was just reading old books. A strange unease winds its way through the entire recording like poisonous ivy on the one hand, it’s very alluring; on the other, it makes my heart race. In fact, one could also say that here, more than anywhere else, it’s better to listen, to wander through dark forests, to climb a mountain and plunge into the depths, than to simply write words that can never fully convey such a harrowing experience. Simply put, Canadians approach music differently than others; they are original, interesting, and definitely stand out from the crowd. When I listen to this, I’m not at home by my stereo, but standing in an old graveyard deep in the northern woods. Mystical, occult, restless, infinitely dark black death metal that takes you on a journey to other dimensions!
