Všechno je pomíjivé. Veškerá bolest a strach, které nás ubíjejí. Zastavil jsem se. Kolem mě všichni někam spěchali, zahledění do svých obrazovek. Ve tvářích měli výrazy uštvaných zvířat. Věděl jsem, kam musím jít. Zahodil jsem vše zbytečné, oprostil se od okovů a zmizel jsem v lesích. Daleko na sever, na široké pláně, na hory, které se dotýkají nebe, k řekám, které jsou plné ryb a na louky, na kterých kvete radost. Nekonečný koloběh života a smrti, šelma lovící právě svoji kořist. Přesně tyto pocity ve mě probouzí nové album švédských EREB ALTOR.

Epický doom metal, vikingský black metal, je vlastně jedno, jak jejich hudbu nazýváte. Důležité, alespoň tedy pro mě, obyčejného fanouška, jsou spíše měnící se nálady. Majestátnost, vznešenost se zde potkává se zemitostí a syrovostí. Už jste někdy plavali v horském jezeře? Sledovali jste dravce jak krouží mezi korunami stromů? Potom víte, o čem píšu a o čem je nové album.

Když se potom setmí a vy o samotě sledujete oheň, začnou ožívat staré legendy a příběhy. Poslech se mi osvědčil opravdu hlavně, když jsem se toulal po lesích (samozřejmě u nás v Čechách, ale myšlenkami jsem byl daleko na severu). Švédi mají svůj jasný a zřetelný rukopis, ihned je poznáte mezi ostatními. Dokáží být ostří a divocí, nespoutaní i naléhaví. V klidných pasážích lze vystopovat tolik typickou melancholii a v těch rychlejších zase zvláštní neklid. Povedl se zvuk, obal, všechny formální věci jsou v naprostém pořádku. Pokud máte rádi staré dobré BATHORY, ale i třeba ISOLE, PRIMORDAL, FALKENBACH, MOONSORROW, budete určitě spokojeni i s novou deskou "Hälsingemörker". A tak se zase jednou hrozně rád toulám, čtu si staré spisy, utíkám do tmy nebo jen tak ležím a vnímám každý tón, každou notu. Určitě to znáte. Jako asi každý starý fanoušek metalu poslouchám hlavně jeden styl (u mě je to death metal). Jsou ale kapely, které mě dokáží vytrhnout z mojí komfortní zóny. Seděl jsem zase jednou u přehrávače, neustále znovu a znovu mačkal play a byl jsem mimo město, mimo tenhle svět. Stal jsem se součástí hudby, probodla mě jako rituální nůž. Vůbec mi nevadilo, že jsem několikrát zemřel a vykrvácel do sněhu. Je to skvělá nahrávka po všech stránkách a lze ji doporučit nejen těm, co mají tenhle styl rádi, ale i všem ostatním, kteří dokáží ocenit dobrou muziku. A teď už mě prosím nechte, venku pomalu svítá. Musím se zase vydat na cestu. Tohle album si beru samozřejmě s sebou. Majestátní, mocný, divoký a naléhavý vikingský black doom metal! Studený vítr ze severu, který se vám dostane do kostí!

Everything is ephemeral. All the pain and fear that kill us. I stopped. Around me, everyone was rushing around, staring at their screens. They had the looks of angry animals on their faces. I knew where I had to go. I threw away everything that was useless, unshackled myself and disappeared into the woods. Far to the north, to the wide plains, to the mountains that touch the sky, to the rivers that are full of fish and to the meadows where joy blooms. An endless cycle of life and death, a beast hunting its prey. These are exactly the feelings that the new album by Swedish EREB ALTOR awakens in me.

Epic doom metal, Viking black metal, it doesn't really matter what you call their music. The important thing, at least for me, an ordinary fan, is rather the changing moods. Majesty, grandeur meets earthiness and rawness here. Have you ever swum in a mountain lake? Have you watched raptors circling among the treetops? Then you know what I write about and what the new album is about.

Then, when it gets dark and you are alone watching the fire, old legends and stories start to come to life. Listening to them was really useful for me, especially when I was wandering in the woods (of course, in my home country of Bohemia, but my mind was far north). The Swedes have their clear and distinct handwriting, you can immediately recognize them among the others. They can be sharp and fierce, unbridled and insistent. In the calm passages one can trace so much typical melancholy and in the faster ones a strange restlessness. The sound, the cover, all formal things are in perfect order. If you like good old BATHORY, but also ISOLE, PRIMORDAL, FALKENBACH, MOONSORROW, you will definitely be satisfied with the new album "Hälsingemörker". And so once again I love to wander around, read old writings, escape into the dark or just lie there and feel every note, every note. I'm sure you know it. Like probably every old metal fan, I listen mainly to one style (for me it's death metal). But there are bands that can take me out of my comfort zone. I was sitting in front of the player once again, pressing play over and over again, and I was out of town, out of this world. I became part of the music, it stabbed me like a ritual knife. I didn't mind at all that I died and bled to death several times in the snow. It's a great record in every way and can be recommended not only to those who like this style, but to everyone else who can appreciate good music. And now please leave me alone, it's slowly dawning outside. I have to go on the road again. I'm taking this album with me, of course. Majestic, powerful, fierce and urgent Viking black doom metal! A cold wind from the north that gets into your bones!
