Síla mrazivých melodií znějících ve větru. Ozvěny z temných lesů, z nekonečné nicoty. Těžko definovatelná energie a tlak, vycházející z vlastního nitra. Už jste někdy měli pocit, že na vás všechno padá, že svět je černý a kolem vás jsou jen samí špatní lidé? Těžko se vám vstávalo, nemohli jste jíst, celé vaše tělo svírala tíseň. A potom, najednou a znenadání, jste roztrhli řetězy a byli jste silní jako šelmy připravené k lovu. Na hudbě je nejkrásnější to, že ji lze vnímat různými způsoby. Nové album švédských legendárních THE CROWN na mě působí jako lavina, jako tlaková vlna, která smete vše v okruhu několika kilometrů.

Je až neuvěřitelné, jakou si kapela s takhle dlouhou historií drží stále skvělou formu. Nemusíme se zde bavit o zvuku, který je samozřejmě skvělý (Marko Tervonen - recording, Jonas Kjellgren - mixing, mastering), nemusíme řešit ani stylový "starý" motiv na obalu. Formální, i když velmi důležité věci, jsou v nejlepším pořádku. Ostatně jako vždy.

Soustřeďme se raději na hudbu samotnou. Letos se sice kapela stále drží toho, co umí nejlépe - severského melodického death thrash metalu, ale navíc přidává neopakovatelnou atmosféru. Mám THE CROWN ve svém soukromém žebříčku hodně vysoko, mnohem výše než mnoho o hodně slavnějších kapel. Protože se jedná, jako vždy, o velmi poctivou muziku, o směs talentu, ale i pokory, o vášeň, kterou musíte mít, abyste zasáhli posluchače přímo do srdce. Možná vám bude připadat, že se Švédi drží svých ověřených postupů a budete mít svým způsobem pravdu. Přesto se posouvají, umí zaujmout. Navíc je nové album "Crown of Thorns" takovou kombinací starého i nového. Ctí se zde klasické kořeny, ale zároveň se objevují nová temná zákoutí. Přiznám se bez mučení, jsem velký fanoušek kapely a vždy s napětím očekávám, s čím kapela přijde. Nesu si domů hudební nosič, jsem napnutý, u prvního poslechu. Následuje úleva - vše je v nejlepším pořádku a mě nezbývá, než se opět poklonit až k zemi. Tahle smečka se poslouchá srdcem. Je totiž opravdová, uvěřitelná, syrová. A tak zase jednou stojím na vysoké hoře a dívám se dolů, na lidské snažení. Mezi mraky, v chladu a daleko od všeho, vynikne nové album nejvíce. Najednou mě nic nebolí, jsem jen já a muzika, jenom já a riffy, údery bicích, zpěv a jakýsi neklid, možná i melancholie, které jsou typickým poznávacím znamením těchto švédských démonů. Líbí se mi, že jsem opět dostal velmi pestrou paletu nálad. Skladby jsou někdy mrazivé, jindy vznešené a majestátní, melodie mě drásají do krve, vzduchem se vznáší temná energie. Kývám se ve větru, padám do hlubiny, znovu vstávám. Je to opravdu velmi silná a podmanivá deska. Víc myslím dodávat netřeba. Raději poslouchejte a to pořádně nahlas. A přečtěte si i recenze na starší nahrávky i rozhovor, které jsou odkazovány dole pod článkem. Ozvěny z temných lesů, z nekonečné nicoty. Chladná síla silných death thrash metalových melodií! It's almost unbelievable how a band with such a long history is still in great shape. Formal, though very important things are in the best order. As always.

Let's concentrate instead on the music itself. This year, the band still sticks to what they do best - Nordic melodic death thrash metal, but they also add a unique atmosphere. I have THE CROWN very high in my personal ranking, much higher than many much more famous bands. Because it is, as always, very honest music, a mixture of talent but also humility, the passion you have to have to hit the listener right in the heart. You may feel that the Swedes are sticking to their tried and tested methods, and in a way you would be right. Yet they are pushing themselves, they know how to captivate. Plus, the new album "Crown of Thorns" is such a combination of old and new. It honors the classic roots, but at the same time explores new dark corners. I'll admit without torture, I'm a huge fan of the band and I'm always excited to see what they come up with. Bringing home a music carrier, I am pumped at the first listen. Relief follows - all is well and I have no choice but to bow down to the ground again. This pack listens with the heart. Because it's real, believable, raw. And so once again I stand on a high mountain and look down on the human endeavor. Among the clouds, in the cold and away from everything, the new album stands out the most. Suddenly nothing hurts, it's just me and the music, just me and the riffs, the drum beats, the vocals and a kind of restlessness, maybe even melancholy, that are the typical hallmarks of these Swedish demons. I like that I got a very varied range of moods again. The songs are sometimes chilling, other times sublime and majestic, the melodies tug at my blood, a dark energy hovers in the air. I sway in the wind, I fall into the depths, I get up again. This is a very powerful and captivating record indeed. I think that's all I need to say. You better listen to it, and listen loud.
