Ulicemi se ozývá nářek raněných. Mrtvé už dávno nikdo nepočítá. Jejich těla se rozkládají a dívají se do tmy. Středověk? Současnost? Netuším, není to ani důležité. Lidé se příliš nemění, historie mi dává za pravdu. Zůstává jenom hudba, která má v sobě temnou sílu lidských myšlenek. Chodí mi na recenzi denně spousta žádostí a někdy bývá náročné vše zpracovat. Pak přišel blesk z čistého nebe. Debut francouzských maniaků SCORCHED EARTH. Kapely z Toulouse, která mě ihned přikovala na zeď.
Mám rád, když jsou smečky opravdové, když věří tomu, co a jak hrají, když cítím z jejich hudby srdce. Francouzi na to jdou postaru, syrově, nedělají žádné kompromisy. Starý, prašivý death metal se zde potkává s nabroušeným thrashem. No řekněte, co si víc může hrobník jako já přát?
Nahrubo nasekané riffy, temnota a chlad a samozřejmě potřebný tlak a energie. Tohle všechno SCORCHED EARTH umí a předkládají nám to s elegancí starých mistrů. Máte rádi kapely jako MORBID ANGEL, DEATH, MALEVOLENT CREATION, IMMOLATION, DEICIDE, HATE ETERNAL? Potom přidejte pořádně hlasitost a ochutnejte tuhle poctivou porci syrového masa. Francouzi ji podávají na víku od rakve a dělají to velmi uvěřitelně. Chladné melodie se zde potkávají se surovými ozvěnami ze záhrobí. Líbí se mi, že kapela staví na silných motivech. Nezapomnělo se ani na syrový zvuk (Jacques Maupeu-Wise - recording, mixing, mastering). Co budete dělat, až jednou spadnou na vaše město bomby? Stanete se otiskem na zdi, predátorem nebo utečete pryč? Představte si, že ráno vstanete a ulice jsou plné mrtvých těl, lidé panikaří a rabují. Na povrch vylezly ty nejhrůznější pudy a smrt je zase jednou jenom jméno. Možná shoříte na popel, ale než se tak stane, tak budete poslouchat "The Day of the Damned" stále dokola. Kapela vytáhla všechny děsivé myšlenky na budoucnost na povrch a udělala to velmi zkušeně a naléhavě. Riffy se vám postupně zadřou pod kůži a najednou budete vědět, že konec tohoto světa je nevyhnutelný. Koneckonců, jako lidstvo pro to děláme všechno. Ulicemi se ozývá nářek raněných. The debut of French maniacs SCORCHED EARTH, a band from Toulouse that immediately had me pinned to the wall.
I love it when bands are real, when they believe in what and how they play, when I can feel the heart in their music. The French are old school, raw, no compromises. Old, dusty death metal meets sharpened thrash here. Well, tell me, what more could a grave digger like me want?
Coarsely chopped riffs, darkness and coldness and of course the necessary pressure and energy. This is what SCORCHED EARTH can do and they present it to us with the elegance of the old masters. Do you like bands like MORBID ANGEL, DEATH, MALEVOLENT CREATION, IMMOLATION, DEICIDE, HATE ETERNAL? Then turn up the volume and sample this honest serving of raw meat. The French serve it on a coffin lid and do it very believably. Cool melodies meet raw echoes from beyond the grave. I like that the band builds on strong motifs. The raw sound (Jacques Maupeu-Wise - recording, mixing, mastering) is not forgotten either. What will you do when one day bombs fall on your city? Will you become an imprint on the wall, a predator or will you run away? Imagine waking up in the morning and the streets are full of dead bodies, people panicking and looting. The most horrible instincts have surfaced and death is once again just a name. You may burn to ashes, but before you do, you'll be listening to "The Day of the Damned" over and over again. The band has brought all the terrifying thoughts of the future to the surface and done so with great expertise and urgency. The riffs gradually get under your skin and suddenly you know that the end of this world is inevitable. After all, as humanity, we're doing everything we can to make it happen.
