Padá na mě tíseň ze současného podivného světa a tak zase jednou volám Satanovi, jestli pro mě nemá nějakou dobrou hudbu. Jenže on stále sedí na svém trůnu a věřící maj absolutní smůlu. Poradím si tedy jako vždycky sám. Nepotřebuji žádné rady a za ty roky, co extrémní muziku poslouchám, tak si pečlivě vybírám, co si narvu do hlavy a o čem budu psát. LAID TO WASTE sleduji od jejich počátků a i když tahle smečka netrpí nadprodukcí, tak každé jejich vydané album rozhodně stojí za to.

Seděl jsem takhle doma a četl si. Píše mi Michal Kafe, který je nejen vydavatelem a šéfem mini labelu Coffegrinder, ale také mým kamarádem. Trošku mě naštval, že mě vyrušil, ale nedalo mi to. Novinku "Trauma" jsem si poslechl ještě ten večer a byla pro mě bleskem z čistého nebe. Většinou prvotní nadšení trošku vyprchá, ale to se zde nestalo. Už jenom ten masivní, řezající a dobře čitelný zvuk (Honza Kapák - recording, mastering), už jenom ten jedovatý vokál, který všemu vévodí jako postava, sedící na obalu. Vše sedí perfektně na svých místech.

To by ale bylo málo. V dnešní době nadprodukce se nakonec stejně vždy oddělí zrno od plev a nic na tom nezmění ani masivní promo na sociálních sítích. LAID TO WASTE vždy měli svůj vlastní rukopis. Stále velice umně a elegantně koketují i s heavy metalem. Nově přibylo více progresivnějších, technických pasáží, které mě osobně dělají tak dobře, že jsem se od nahrávky nemohl odtrhnout. Chodil jsem ulicemi, jezdil autem, četl si, pracoval jsem a ve všech situacích na mě novinka působila a drtila mě. Jasně, hudební kritik nebo nedej bože někdo, kdo tuhle hudbu neposlouchá, může namítnout, že tu už všechno bylo. Jenže přátelé, hlavní je vždycky celkový dojem, nálady, atmosféra. A tihle maniaci dodávají pestrý a velmi propracovaný materiál, který nejen, že se dobře poslouchá, ale navíc má v sobě něco neklidného, přitažlivého. Za zmínku stojí i texty, které působí velmi poeticky. Zkrátka a dobře, každá skladba má jasný, zřetelný motiv, který si zapamatujete, zaryje se vám do mozku i do podvědomí. Píšu a doporučuji už dávno opravdu jenom desky, které mě baví poslouchat a podporovat a u "Trauma" není moc co řešit. Pokud máš rád ostrý, pestrobarevný thrash metal, nebojíš se lehkých experimentů a pořád si rebel bez příčiny, tak neváhej ani chvilku. Nahrávka by se mohla líbit jak starým psům, jako jsem já, tak i mladým, kteří si rádi rozšiřují svoje obzory a mají alespoň určitou dávku fantazie. Říkám to pořád, více než 35 let. Pokud sedíš u reproduktorů a začneš si podupávat nohou a mlátit hlavou o zeď, potom je album dobré. Padá na mě tíseň ze současného podivného světa a tak zase jednou volám Satanovi, jestli pro mě nemá nějakou dobrou hudbu. Konečně to zvedne, zasměje se svým nezaměnitelným smíchem a řekne jedno slovo: "Trauma". Ostré, divoké, podmanivé a neklidné album, po okraj narvané surovými, propracovanými melodiemi! Thrash metal par excellence!

So I'll do as I always do. I don't need any advice, and in all the years I've been listening to extreme music, I choose carefully what I put in my head and what I write about. I've been following LAID TO WASTE since their early days and while this pack doesn't suffer from overproduction, every album they release is definitely worth it.

I've been sitting at home reading like this. Michal Kafe writes me, who is not only the publisher and head of the mini label Coffegrinder, but also my friend. I was a bit annoyed that he disturbed me, but I didn't let it get to me. I listened to the new album "Trauma" that evening and it was a bolt from the blue. Usually the initial enthusiasm wears off a bit, but that didn't happen here. Just the massive, cutting and clear sound (Honza Kapák - recording, mastering), just the venomous vocal that dominates everything like a figure sitting on the cover. Everything fits perfectly in its place.

That wouldn't be enough. In these times of overproduction, the wheat is always separated from the chaff in the end, and even a massive social media promotion won't change that. LAID TO WASTE have always had their own signature. They still flirt with heavy metal in an elegant way. Newly added are more progressive, technical passages that make me personally so good that I couldn't tear myself away from the record. I walked the streets, drove the car, read, worked, and in all situations the novelty affected and crushed me. Sure, a music critic or God forbid someone who doesn't listen to this music might argue that it's all been here before. But friends, the main thing is always the overall impression, the mood, the atmosphere. And these maniacs deliver varied and very sophisticated material that is not only good to listen to, but also has something restless, appealing about it. Also worth mentioning are the lyrics, which have a very poetic feel. In short, each song has a clear, distinct motif that you will remember, it will stick in your brain and subconscious. I've really only been writing and recommending records that I enjoy listening to and supporting for a long time now, and with "Trauma" there's not much to go on. If you like edgy, colorful thrash metal, aren't afraid of light experimentation, and still rebel without a cause, then don't hesitate a moment. The record might appeal to old dogs like me, as well as young ones who like to expand their horizons and have at least a certain amount of imagination. I've been saying this all along, for over 35 years. If you sit at the speakers and start stomping your foot and banging your head against the wall, then the album is good. He finally picks up, laughs his unmistakable laugh and says one word: "Trauma". A sharp, fierce, captivating and restless album, packed to the brim with raw, sophisticated melodies!
