Každý rok potkáváš ve stejný den a ve stejnou hodinu mladou dívku. Sedává hned vedle hrobu, na který chodíš položit květiny. Smutek ti drásá vnitřnosti, proplétáš se mezi stíny, pod nohama si křupe suché listí. Stromy se sklánějí nad náhrobky a ty nevíš, jestli je přízrakem nebo reálnou bytostí. Pouze dnes, na několik hodin ti vypráví příběhy plné bolesti, strachu a utrpení. Ve smrti jsme nakonec pouze sami. Pomoci nám může snad jenom hudba. Pokud je dobře zahraná, složená, pokud má v sobě stejný smutek.

S chilskými MOURNERS LAMENT se setkávám poprvé. Musel jsem si tedy doplnit informace poslechem celé jejich diskografie. Venku byla ještě tma a nemohl jsem spát. Vzal jsem si tedy všechny věci a vyrazil na hřbitov. Zde, ve stínu starých kobek, hned vedle chrámu bolesti, vynikl jejich doom death metal nejvíce.

Pokaždé, když si vybírám, o jaké hudbě budu psát, tak se posadím a nechám na sebe nové album jen tak působit. Schválně nečtu žádné promo materiály, nehledám informace na internetu. Jenom já a deska "A Grey Farewell". Soustředím se na poslech, užívám si chladný a dobře čitelný zvuk. Nechávám se jen tak unášet na vlnách, padám do hlubiny, čerpám temnou energii, které je v téhle nahrávce velké množství. Ale také smutek, základní stavební kámen doom metalu. Potkáme zde ale i surové prvky klasické smrti. Postupně zjišťuji, že mě nové album baví, že se k němu rád vracím. Když přijdu ze hřbitova, musím pracovat. Přesto ve mě zůstalo něco neklidného, něco, co mě neustále láká si MOURNERS LAMENT pouštět. Je to hlavně podmanivá, chladná a temná atmosféra, je to schopnost kapely napsat dobrou skladbu, jsou to neklidné nálady, které se mi postupně dostaly do podvědomí. Základem je zde podobný přístup, jako měli zakladatelé žánru PARADISE LOST, MY DYING BRIDE, ANATHEMA, přidáváno je potom velké množství vlastních nápadů a invence. Dnes ráno byla zase hustá mlha. Vydal jsem se na hřbitov a zase byla tam. Přízrak, možná duch nebo nemrtvá. Netuším, vím jen jediné, když jsem jí novou desku pustil, usmála se a kývala souhlasně hlavou. Myslím si, podepisuji vám vlastní krví, že se "A Grey Farewell" opravdu povedlo. Je to obřad, panychida za všechny prokleté. Nelze jinak, než vám nahrávku doporučit. Pokud máte tenhle styl rádi, budete určitě spokojeni jako já. Mrazivé, temné, mlhavé ozvěny ze starodávných doom death metalových pohřebišť! Síla smutných emocí!

This is my first encounter with Chilean MOURNERS LAMENT. So I had to complete my information by listening to their entire discography. It was still dark outside and I couldn't sleep. So I took all my things and went to the cemetery. Here, in the shadow of the old dungeons, next to the temple of pain, their doom death metal stood out the most.

Every time I choose what music to write about, I sit back and let the new album just affect me. I don't intentionally read any promo materials, I don't look for information on the internet. It's just me and "A Grey Farewell". I'm concentrating on listening, enjoying the cool and clear sound. I'm just letting myself ride the waves, falling into the depths, drawing on the dark energy that is in abundance in this record. But also sadness, the basic building block of doom metal. But there are also raw elements of classic death. Gradually I find that I enjoy the new album, that I like coming back to it. When I come back from the cemetery, I have to work. Still, there is something restless in me, something that keeps tempting me to play MOURNERS LAMENT. It's mainly the captivating, cold and dark atmosphere, it's the band's ability to write a good song, it's the restless moods that have gradually made their way into my subconscious. The basic approach here is similar to that of the founders of the genre PARADISE LOST, MY DYING BRIDE, ANATHEMA, then adding a lot of their own ideas and inventiveness. This morning it was thick fog again. I went to the cemetery and there it was again. An apparition, maybe a ghost or undead. I have no idea, all I know is when I played her the new record she smiled and nodded her head in agreement. I think, and I'm signing my name in my own blood, that "A Grey Farewell" was a real success. It's a rite of passage, a panic for all the damned. I can't help but recommend the record to you. If you like this style, you'll be as pleased as I am. Freezing, dark, misty echoes from ancient doom death metal burial grounds! The power of sad emotions!
