Nemůžeš se nadechnout, padáš po zádech do hlubiny. Tak takové to je, říkáš si, taková je smrt. Žádný poslední soud, ani divocí démoni. Jenom temnota a chlad. Díváš se do tmy a najednou prořízne těžký vzduch první riff. Objeví se oheň, který postupně roste, živí se bolestí a utrpením. Najednou stojíš očištěn a znovuzrozený. Ano, hudba švédských FLAMENKEEPER na mě má velmi zajímavý účinek. Jako bych ji měl zakódovanou hluboko v genech.
Není divu, s heavy metalem a jeho odrůdami jsem kdysi v mládí začínal. Možná právě proto přistupuji ke každé nové nahrávce opatrně. Tentokrát jsem si otevřel pivo, zhasl všechna světla a postupně přidával hlasitost. Po několika skladbách jsem se začal usmívat. To je ono! Přesně takové album jsem potřeboval. Je majestátní, velmi dobře složené a obsahuje v sobě takovou tu těžko vysvětlitelnou příměs, která se nedá naučit. Metal je zde ukován z té nejlepší oceli. Berte a nebo nechte být.
Hlavním a jediným členem kapely je Marco Salluzzo, všem dobře známý muzikant z italských black death metalových DEMONANCY. Je podepsán pod veškerou hudbou. Přiznám se vám rovnou, podle mě se jedná o stylově vybroušený drahokam. Zvuk, obal, ale hlavně samotné skladby jsou doslova návykové. Jen si tak jezdit autem, nejlépe při západu slunce. Postupně přidávat hlasitost i rychlost. Nic neřešit, užívat si hudbu samotnou. Kolik takových chvil jste poslední dobou zažili? Jsem už starý pes, který zvedne hlavu pouze v případě, když ho nějaké album doopravdy baví. Na nové desce "Flamekeeper" naleznete potřebný patos, vznešenost, heavy metalový postoj bojovníků. Osobně se mi hrozně líbí, že skladby působí velmi uvěřitelně, opravdově. Žádné zbytečnosti, ale na kost ohlodané melodie, které se vám postupně usadí až v morku kostí. V některých momentech si zavzpomínáme na to nejlepší, co kdysi nahráli třeba takoví MANOWAR, DIO. Marco na tyhle legendy odkazuje, ale dělá to po svém. Celým albem se tak vznáší nejen melancholický náboj, ale samozřejmě i nostalgie. Tady se skládá pocta hudbě jako takové. Marco má velký dar a talent na to, složit chytlavé motivy. A tak mi zase sedmnáct a znovu křičím do tmy. Všechen ten vztek, frustrace, ale i láska k metalu jako takovému, musí ven. Jsem překvapený, nadšený a novou desku doporučuji všem na potkání. Hele, kámo, tak se mi ti dostala do rukou kapela, ze které se zblázníš. Pamatuješ, jak jsme jako mladí sedávali dlouhé hodiny před reproduktory a diskutovali o metalu? Tak přesně do téhle doby FLAMENKEEPER patří. Kurva brácho, tohle je taková krása! Nemůžu se nadechnout, padám po zádech do hlubiny. Tak takové to je, říkám si, taková je smrt. You can't breathe, you fall on your back into the depths. That's what it's like, you tell yourself, that's what death is like. No last judgment, no wild demons. Just darkness and cold. You stare into the darkness and suddenly the first riff cuts through the heavy air. A fire appears, growing gradually, feeding on pain and suffering. Suddenly you stand purified and reborn. Yes, the music of Swedish FLAMENKEEPER has a very interesting effect on me. It's like it's encoded deep in my genes.
No wonder, I started with heavy metal and its varieties when I was young. Maybe that's why I approach every new record with caution. This time I opened my beer, turned off all the lights and gradually turned up the volume. After a few songs, I started to smile. This is it! Just the album I needed. It's majestic, very well composed, and has that hard to explain admixture that can't be taught. The metal here is forged from the finest steel. Take it or leave it.
The main and only member of the band is Marco Salluzzo, well known musician from Italian black death metal DEMONANCY. He is signed to all the music. I'll admit it straight up, in my opinion this is a stylistically polished gem. The sound, the cover art, but most importantly the songs themselves are literally addictive. Just take a car ride, preferably at sunset. Gradually increase the volume and speed. Don't worry about anything, just enjoy the music itself. How many of those moments have you had lately? I'm an old dog who only lifts his head when he really enjoys an album. On the new album "Flamekeeper" you will find the necessary pathos, nobility, heavy metal warrior attitude. Personally, I really like the fact that the songs feel very believable, real. No uselessness, but bone-biting melodies that gradually settle in your bones. In some moments we remember the best of what MANOWAR, DIO, for example, used to record. Marco refers to these legends, but he does it in his own way. Thus, not only a melancholic charge floats through the whole album, but of course also nostalgia. Here is a tribute to music itself. Marco has a great gift and talent for composing catchy themes. And so I'm seventeen again and I'm screaming into the darkness. All the anger, frustration, but also the love of metal itself, has to come out. I'm surprised, thrilled and I recommend the new album to everyone I meet. Hey, dude, I got my hands on a band that's gonna drive you crazy. Remember when we were young and we used to sit in front of the speakers for hours and discuss metal? That's exactly when FLAMENKEEPER belongs. Fuck, bro, this is so beautiful! I can't breathe, I'm falling on my back into the deep. That's what it's like, I think, that's what death is like. No last judgement, no wild demons. Just darkness and cold. And this album! Heavy metal, forged from the finest steel! The journey is the destination!
