Byl jsem jako on. Už dlouhé roky trávím na starých hřbitovech. Jsem stínem, který se mihne v mlze, když se pohřbívá do země. Znám příběhy všech zemřelých. Některé převádím na druhou stranu. Jsem ghúlem, bytostí z jiného světa. Pro některé zrůdou, pro jiné děsivým svědomím. Existují kapely, které se mnou dokáží rozmlouvat. Legendární švédští death metalisté SARCASM patří mezi ně. Letos přicházejí se svojí pátou dlouhohrající deskou. Je opět velmi chladná, temná, záhadná. Je po okraj narvaná melodiemi, které rozdrásají vaši duši do krve.
Není žádným tajemstvím, že jsem velkým fanouškem téhle smečky. Důkazem budiž recenze a rozhovor, které jsou odkazovány dole pod článkem. Líbí se mi, že i letos se kapela vyvíjí, mění, že dokáže zaujmout. Základem je stále severský kov smrti, ale přidávány jsou další a další prvky extrémního metalu. A to velmi vkusně a elegantně. Vychutnat si tak můžete až doomové pasáže, kousky black metalu a nebál bych se napsat i progresivity. Výsledkem je velmi chutný koktejl, který když pozřete, tak budete moci rozmlouvat se mnou, starým ghúlem, i se samotnou smrtí.
Letošní album "Mourninghoul" je mocné, majestátní, ale i velmi záhadné a tajemné. Jakoby bylo celé zahalené do černé mlhy, kterou všichni známe právě ze starých pohřebišť. Procházejí se v ní přízraky. Myslím si, že by se jim novinka téhle kapely mohla také líbit. Mohu vám podepsat vlastní krví, že pro fanoušky (a nejen pro ně) téhle kapely bylo učiněno absolutně vše. SARCASM jsou originální, mají svůj jasně rozpoznatelný rukopis. Stačí několik prvních tónů a ihned vím, o koho se jedná. S novou deskou jsem spokojený ale i po formální stránce. Pod velmi povedeným obalem je podepsán Armaada ART. Co se týká zvuku, tak je velmi chladný, křišťálově bolestivý a ihned se vám zadře pod kůži (Lawrence Mackrory - mixing, mastering). Měl bych napsat i nějakou kritiku, jenže mě žádná nenapadá. Vypadá to, že jsme si i nadále s kapelou souzeni. Je i mým osudem. Nejvíce se mi osvědčil poslech velmi brzy ráno, když ještě slunce čekalo na svoji cestu. Chodívám kolem hřbitova. Pokaždé jsem měl pocit, že u jedné staré hrobky sedí pradávná příšera. Její oči žhnuly do tmy a šeptala zvrácená slova a o smrti, bolesti a utrpení. Moje fantazie pracuje na sto procent. Jdu spolu s ghúlem na vysokou horu, vznášíme se v oblacích, sledujeme stále bloudící lidský rod. Padáme nakonec do hlubiny, abychom se roztříštili na tisíc kousků. Je to pro mě důkaz, potvrzení, že se nové album opravdu povedlo. Má v sobě totiž absolutně vše, co od dobrých nahrávek požaduji. Jasný směr, spoustu skvělých nápadů i podmanivou atmosféru plnou tmy a chladu. Jsem jako on. Už dlouhé roky trávím na starých hřbitovech. Jsem stínem, který se mihne v mlze, když se pohřbívá do země. Some of them I'm bringing to the other side. I am a ghoul, a being from another world. To some a monster, to others a terrifying conscience. There are bands that can talk to me. Legendary Swedish death metallers SARCASM are one of them. This year they come with their fifth full-length album. It is again very cold, dark, mysterious. It's packed to the brim with melodies that will rip your soul to blood.
It's no secret that I'm a big fan of this pack. For proof, check out the review and interview linked at the bottom of the article. I love that even this year the band is evolving, changing, and managing to impress. The base is still Nordic death metal, but more and more elements of extreme metal are added. And in a very tasteful and elegant way. So you can enjoy up to doom passages, bits of black metal and I wouldn't be afraid to write even progressiveness. The result is a very tasty cocktail, which if you watch, you will be able to talk to me, an old ghoul, and to death itself.
This year's album "Mourninghoul" is powerful, majestic, but also very mysterious and enigmatic. It's as if it's all shrouded in the black fog we all know from old burial grounds. Ghosts walk in it. I think they might like this band's new stuff too. I can sign with my own blood that absolutely everything has been done for the fans (and not only for them) of this band. SARCASM are original, they have their clearly recognizable signature. Just the first few notes and I immediately know who they are. But I'm also satisfied with the new album from a formal point of view. The very nice cover art is signed by Armaada ART. As for the sound, it is very cold, crystal painful and immediately gets under your skin (Lawrence Mackrory - mixing, mastering). I should write some criticism, but I can't think of any. It seems that we are still on the same page with the band. It's my destiny too. The most useful for me was listening very early in the morning, when the sun was still waiting for its way. I walk by the cemetery. I always had the feeling that there was an ancient monster sitting by an old tomb. Its eyes glowed in the dark and it whispered twisted words about death, pain and suffering. My imagination is working 100%. I walk with the ghoul up a high mountain, floating in the clouds, watching the ever-wandering human race. Eventually we fall into the depths, only to shatter into a thousand pieces. It's a proof for me, a confirmation that the new album has really done well. It has absolutely everything I demand from a good record. A clear direction, lots of great ideas and a captivating atmosphere full of darkness and coldness. I'm like him.
