Zavřený v temné kobce mlátíš hlavou do zdi. Po tvářích ti teče krev. Přesto tě už nikdy nepustí. Shniješ tu zaživa. Když si byl totiž venku, roztrhal si na kusy několik nebohých lidí. O tvých hnusných činech jsem četl právě ve chvíli, když jsem poslouchal novou desku italských maniaků HOUR OF PENANCE. Na nové album jsem se velmi těšil, protože cestu téhle smečky sleduji od jejich počátků. Vždycky se mi líbila nejvíc živá vystoupení, na kterých jsem si několikrát potvrdil, že jejich hudba je opravdu zničující.
Občas mě popadne vztek, mám v sobě i temné stránky. Asi jako každý. Kapela vzala torturu bolestivých myšlenek, napěchovala je pod tlakem do svých skladeb a opatřila ponurou a děsivou atmosférou. Základem je stále brutální, technický death metal, přidávána je potom krvavá aura, která je pro tuhle kapelu tolik typická.
Na "Devotion" pánové pokračují ve své kruté cestě. Bývají přirovnáváni k NILE, HIDEOUS DIVINITY, ORIGIN, HATE ETERNAL, v klidnějších pasážích potom k BEHEMOTH. To platí i letos. Ale samozřejmě s tím, že kapela má už dlouho svůj vlastní, dnes již k dokonalosti vybroušený styl, rukopis. Skladby v sobě mají potřebnou sílu, tlak, jsou napsány velmi zajímavě a nenudím se ani chvilku. Je to smršť, tsunami, je to souboj se smečkou rozzuřených psů. Žádné kompromisy, žádné zbytečnosti, vše je ohlodáno na kost, přesto zajímavé a pestré. HOUR OF PENANCE jsou na scéně od roku 1999 a dávno už nemusí nikomu nic dokazovat. Přesto se postupně vyvíjejí, zlepšují svoji hudbu k ještě větší dokonalosti. Pokud máte podobné stylové drahokamy rádi, neváhejte ani chvilku. Dostanete pořádně syrovou porci syrového masa, které vám hodí pánové přímo do ksichtu. Marně jsem hledal nějaká slabá místa. Opravdu, vše je v podstatě perfektní. Zvuk, obal, celkové provedení. Zároveň, a to je pro mě velmi důležité, v sobě songy obsahují živočišnost, opravdovost. Stále slyším, že hudbu zde hrají lidé a ne stroje. Italové jsou jako buldozer, který hrne vše před sebou. Zůstává po něm jenom spálená a zničená země. Je to jako apokalypsa, která právě propukla. Nezachrání tě víra, ani vlastní svědomí. Zavřený v temné kobce mlátíš hlavou do zdi. Po tvářích ti teče krev. For when you were outside, you tore some poor people to pieces. I read about your ugly deeds while I was listening to the new album by Italian maniacs HOUR OF PENANCE. I was really looking forward to the new album because I've been following the journey of this pack since their early days. I've always liked their live shows the best, where I've confirmed several times that their music is really devastating.
I get angry sometimes, I have a dark side to me. I guess everyone does. The band took the torture of painful thoughts, crammed them under pressure into their songs and provided a gloomy and eerie atmosphere. The base is still brutal, technical death metal, then the bloody aura that is so typical of this band is added.
On "Devotion" the gentlemen continue their cruel way. They have been compared to NILE, HIDEOUS DIVINITY, ORIGIN, HATE ETERNAL, and in quieter passages to BEHEMOTH. This is also true this year. But, of course, the band has long had its own style, now polished to perfection. The songs have the necessary strength, pressure, they are written very interestingly and I'm not bored even for a moment. It's a whirlwind, a tsunami, it's a fight with a pack of angry dogs. No compromises, no redundancy, everything is gnawed to the bone, yet interesting and colorful. HOUR OF PENANCE have been on the scene since 1999 and have long since had nothing to prove to anyone. Yet they have been evolving, improving their music to even greater perfection. If you like such stylish gems, don't hesitate a moment. You'll get a good portion of raw meat thrown right in your face by the gentlemen. I looked in vain for any weak spots. Really, everything is basically perfect. The sound, the packaging, the overall performance. At the same time, and this is very important for me, the songs have an animalistic, real quality. I can still hear that the music here is played by humans and not machines. The Italians are like a bulldozer that is pushing everything in front of it. All that's left is a scorched and ruined earth. It's like an apocalypse that has just broken out. You can't be saved by faith or your own conscience. Locked in a dark dungeon, you bang your head against the wall. Blood streaming down your cheeks. Technical, brutal death metal, the perfect carnage to wipe you off the face of the earth!
