Probudím se a hlavu mám jako střep. Včera jsem byl v jednom malém klubu a pivo teklo proudem. Tančil jsem na stole a holky byly nejkrásnější na světě. Měl bych jít do kostela, poklonit se dávno padlým modlám. Místo toho zapínám znovu play a otevírám si další lahev. Už dávno nepotřebuji žádnou slepou víru, už dávno nepochoduji v davu. Mám na sobě džínovou bundu a svět je stále krásný, jako kdysi. My staří psi to takhle máme. Hudbu potřebujeme k životu, jsme na ní závislí. Vyhledáváme kapely, které nás zaujmou a posloucháme je do té doby, dokud neomdlíme.
Belgičtí black thrasheři DEVASTATIÖN letos přicházejí se svojí třetí dlouhohrající deskou. Pokud jste na tom stejně jako já a rádi se necháváte unášet na rychlých vlnách krvavých melodií, potom jste zde správně. Pánové jsou klasičtí, tradiční a uvěřitelní. Dnes ráno nepůjdu do kostela, raději se na hřbitově pokloním všem démonům. A tohle album si vezmu určitě s sebou.
Jasně, tahle hudba je stará jako metal samotný. Pánové se nechali volně inspirovat blackem, thrashem a speed metalem osmdesátých a devadesátých let. Zazní ale i odkazy na pravý heavy metal. Předlohou jim byli DESTROYER 666, NIFELHEIM, AURA NOIR, SODOM, VENOM, POSSESSED, SADUS. Nemá cenu vypisovat všechny, to by nedávalo smysl a každý si určitě najde ty své kapely. O to přeci v závěru vůbec nejde. Hlavní je energie, tlak, chladné a temné melodie. Musíte mít chuť bouchat do stolu, otevřít další pivo a tančit na vlastním hrobě. Je to vlastně hrozně jednoduché. Pro někoho bude nové album jen pouhým retrem, pro jiné skvělou muzikou nejen pro páteční pařby. Záleží na každém fanouškovi a úhlu pohledu. Já samozřejmě patřím do skupiny posluchačů, kteří si nahrávku opravdu užívají. Má parádní živočišný a ostrý zvuk, zapamatovatelný obal (já tyhle černobílé motivy obdivuji) a produkci navazující na zlatou školu tohoto stylu. Asi to máte nastavené občas jako já. Popadne vás vztek. Naštve vás někdo v práci, odcházíte znechuceni z večerních zpráv. Hudba je tu od toho, aby nám v podobných situacích pomohla přežít. Pořád se scházíme s kamarády, jako za starých dobrých časů, popíjíme pivo a řešíme život a muziku. Nelze jinak než DEVASTATIÖN doporučit všem pravověrným. Pokaždé se zeptáme. Má to sílu? Má to drive? Trhá to vlasy z hlavy? Pokud odpovídáte kladně (a to je v případě téhle smečky samozřejmost), potom vám nezbývá nic jiného, než si sehnat celou diskografii kapely. "Rise Of The Dead" vás postaví na nohy po včerejší kocovině. Vyčistí vám hlavu od zbytečností. Je to málo nebo moc? Moje odpověď je jasná. Dám si další pivo a přidám volume úplně doprava. Syrová, divoká, rychlá a zběsilá jízda přímo do pekla! Black thrash metal ostrý jako skalpel!

Belgian black thrashers DEVASTATIÖN are coming out with their third full-length album this year. If you're like me and like to get carried away on fast waves of bloody melodies, then you've come to the right place. The gentlemen are classic, traditional and believable. I'm not going to church this morning, I'd rather pay my respects to all the demons in the graveyard. And I'm definitely taking this album with me.
Yeah, this music is as old as metal itself. The gentlemen were freely inspired by black, thrash and speed metal of the 80s and 90s. But there are also references to real heavy metal. They were inspired by DESTROYER 666, NIFELHEIM, AURA NOIR, SODOM, VENOM, POSSESSED, SADUS. There's no point in listing all of them, it wouldn't make sense and everyone will surely find their own bands. That's not the point in the end. The main thing is energy, pressure, cold and dark melodies. You must feel like banging on the table, opening another beer and dancing on your own grave. It's actually very simple. For some people the new album will be just a mere retread, for others it will be great music not only for Friday night parties. It depends on each fan and point of view. I, of course, belong to the group of listeners who really enjoy the record. It has a great animalistic and crisp sound, a memorable cover (I adore these black and white motifs) and a production that follows the golden school of this style. You probably have it set up like I do sometimes. You get angry. You get pissed off at work, you leave the evening news disgusted. Music is here to help us survive situations like that. We still get together with our friends, like the good old days, drink beer and talk about life and music. I can't recommend DEVASTATIÖN to all true believers. Every time we ask. Does it have power? Does it have drive? Does it tear the hair out of your head? If you answer in the affirmative (and that's a given with this pack), then you have no choice but to get the band's entire discography. "Rise Of The Dead" will get you back on your feet after yesterday's hangover. It will clear your head of uselessness. Is it too little or too much? My answer is clear. I'll have another beer and turn the volume all the way to the right. A raw, wild, fast and furious ride straight to hell! Black thrash metal as sharp as a scalpel!
