Podvědomě jsem věděl, že se stalo něco hrozného. Les utichl. Jakoby naslouchal, jakoby se bál. Vzduch byl těžký a temný. Tělo leželo uprostřed mýtiny. Chladné a bílé. Jako smrt, jako bílý sníh. Její vyděšené oči se ptaly, proč? Odpověď nepřicházela. Místo toho jsem si pustil novou desku polských black doom metalistů ABOVE AURA a přemýšlel jsem o tom, kolik podob zla jsem za svůj život už viděl. Bylo to děsivé. Jak tam ležela, sama, bez života.
Třetí dlouhohrající album se povedlo. To jsem věděl hned po prvním poslechu. Občas to tak mívám, že si všechno přesně sedne na svá místa. Je těžké popsat slovy, co se na desce odehrává. Lepší je ochutnat ukázky a potom uslyšíte sami. Třeba se také ocitnete v lese, který před chvílí utichl.
Stylově lze tvorbu polských maniaků přirovnat k tomu, co hrají kapely jako FUNERAL MIST, AOSOTH, KRIEGSMACHINE, ANTAEUS, GEVURAH, DEATHSPELL OMEGA. V některých momentech je nová deska složitá, těžká na poslech. Je nutné jí dát čas. Jen si tak sedět nebo chodit temnými ulicemi, jen tak si poslouchat. Osvědčila se mi i černá místnost a otevřené okno do chladné noci. V těchto momentech vynikla nová deska "Myriad Woes" nejlépe. Ve skladbách, které mají skvělý mrazivý zvuk, se ukrývá zklamání z vlastní existence, depresivní stavy, melancholie, i nekonečný smutek. Opravdu, když jsem album stále dokola poslouchal, úplně jsem před sebou viděl dívku, která si drásá obličej do krve uprostřed lesa. Black metal, který tahle smečka hraje, se dá vnímat mnoha způsoby. Netuším, který je ten správný. Jistý jsem si ale s tím, že se budu k novince rád a často vracet. Má v sobě totiž něco navíc, co ji odlišuje od ostatních. Vnitřní neklid, chvění, temnou energii, bolest i naději. Možná existuje i svět stínů, který každý z nás navštívíme po smrti. ABOVE AURA tam podle mého museli nové album nahrávat. V zemi nekonečného šepotu, mrazivých nálad, v močálech, ve kterých leží těla utopenců. Nové skladby ve mě probouzejí pestrou paletu do černé zahalených nálad. Pokud máte tenhle styl rádi a s chutí se necháváte pohřbít zaživa, hraje se zde i pro vás. Podvědomě jsem věděl, že se stalo něco hrozného. Les utichl. Jakoby naslouchal, jakoby se bál. Vzduch byl těžký a temný. Tělo leželo uprostřed mýtiny. Chladné a bílé. Jako smrt, jako bílý sníh. Mrazivý, temných black doom metalový stín! Bolest z vlastní existence, nakrájená na kusy!

Subconsciously, I knew something terrible had happened. The forest had fallen silent. It was as if it was listening, as if it was afraid. The air was heavy and dark. The body lay in the middle of the clearing. Cold and white. Like death, like white snow. Her frightened eyes asked why? No answer came. Instead, I put on the new album by Polish black doom metallers ABOVE AURA and thought about how many forms of evil I have seen in my lifetime. It was terrifying. Lying there, alone, lifeless.
The third full-length album was a success. I knew that after the first listen. Sometimes I get like that, everything falls into place. It's hard to put into words what's happening on the record. It's better to taste the samples and then hear for yourself. Maybe you will also find yourself in a forest that has just gone silent.
In terms of style, the Polish maniacs' work can be compared to that of bands like FUNERAL MIST, AOSOTH, KRIEGSMACHINE, ANTAEUS, GEVURAH, DEATHSPELL OMEGA. In some moments the new album is complex, hard to listen to. You have to give it time. Just sit or walk down the dark streets, just listen. A black room and an open window into the cold night proved useful. It was in these moments that the new album "Myriad Woes" stood out the best. The songs, which have a great chilling sound, hide disappointment in their own existence, depressive states, melancholy, and endless sadness. Indeed, as I listened to the album over and over again, I could totally see a girl in front of me, scratching her face bloody in the middle of the forest. The black metal that this pack plays can be perceived in many ways. I don't know which is the right one. But I am sure that I will come back to this new album often. It has something extra that sets it apart from the others. Inner turmoil, trembling, dark energy, pain and hope. Maybe there's a shadow world we all visit after we die. I think ABOVE AURA must have recorded the new album there. In a land of endless whispers, chilling moods, in swamps where the bodies of drowned people lie. The new songs awaken in me a colourful palette of moods shrouded in black. If you like this style and are happy to be buried alive, this is playing for you too.
