Na nebi nebyla vidět ani jedna hvězda. Jenom lampa na tiché ulici blikala v šíleném tempu. Potom nastala prázdnota. Cítil jsem v kostech chlad a musel jsem se zastavit. Začaly pomalu vystupovat ze stínů. Postavy bez tváře, některé popálené, některé s useknutými částmi těl. Zohavené a prokleté. Slyšel jsem jejich šepot, naříkaly a odpadávaly jim kusy masa. Rozhodně nevypadaly jako éterické, vznášející se bytosti, jak se nám snaží vnutit kněz. Naopak, všechny do jednoho byly zlé. Roztrhaly mě na kusy. Když jsem padal k zemi, hluboko do propasti, usmíval jsem se. Moc dobře jsem věděl, že poznám další dobrou death metalovou desku.

I stalo se. Ihned, během několika prvních okamžiků, jsem věděl, že tohle je kapela, která moc dobře ví, o čem je temnota, chlad i čerstvě vykopané hroby. Dámy a pánové, živí i nemrtví, dovolte mi, abych vám představil španělské maniaky APPARITION. Ti letos, po demonahrávce v roce 2021, debutují s albem "Fear the Apparition". Vítejte ve starých katakombách.

Plesnivý zvuk (Javi Félez - mastering, mixing), chorobný vokál, obal (Markus Vesper) jak vystřižený z devadesátých let minulého století. Ostré riffy, nahrané v tom nejhlubším podzemí. Spousta morbidních riffů ve stylu třeba takových SKELETAL REMAINS, PESTILENCE, MALEVOLENT CREATION, SADISTIC INTENT, DEATH (éra "Leprosy"). Tohle všechno dělá z nové desky doslova povinnost pro všechny dávno prokleté, pro fanoušky absolutní tmy, nekonečných stínů a zdánlivě opuštěných hřbitovů. Po nějakém společně stráveném čase jsem zjistil, že se k nahrávce stále dokola vracím, rvu si ji pod tlakem do hlavy a nemůžu se zbavit dojmu, že mě někdo sleduje. Vstávám každý den velmi brzy ráno a ulice jsou ještě prázdné. Jenže zdání někdy klame. My, staří metaloví psi moc dobře víme, že když se budeme soustředit a poslouchat u toho desky jako je "Fear the Apparition", začnou se postupně objevovat. Postavy bez duše, nemrtví, které tahle hudba dokáže probudit. Někdy, když se mi album opravdu líbí, tak ani do práce nepřijdu. Raději se nechám pozvat mezi hroby. Usednu hned vedle márnice a neustále přidávám hlasitost. Když se rozední a slunce vylézá ven, ulehnu do své rakve. Troufám si, jako starý hrobník, tvrdit, že se nová deska APPARITION povedla po všech stránkách. Má v sobě vše, co si přeji a co mi dělá dobře na mé černé duši. Tohle je metal zahraný od srdce, opravdově a s temnou jiskrou v oku. Pokud to takhle máte rádi (jako já), neváhejte ani chvilku. Dostanete poctivou porci syrového masa! Hnilobný, plesnivý, starodávný death metalový zážitek! Exhumace se povedla, tělo se rozpadlo v prach!

Not a single star was visible in the sky. Only the lamp on the quiet street flickered at a maddening pace. Then there was emptiness. I felt a chill in my bones and I had to stop. They began to slowly emerge from the shadows. Faceless figures, some burned, some with severed body parts. Charred and cursed. I could hear them whispering, moaning, and pieces of flesh falling off. They certainly didn't look like ethereal, floating beings, as the priest tries to tell us. On the contrary, every last one of them was evil. They tore me apart. As I fell to the ground, deep into the abyss, I smiled. I knew very well that I would know another good death metal record.

And I did. Immediately, within the first few moments, I knew that this was a band that knew very well what darkness, coldness and freshly dug graves were all about. Ladies and gentlemen, living and undead, let me introduce you to Spanish maniacs APPARITION. This year, after a demo in 2021, they debut with the album "Fear the Apparition". Welcome to the old catacombs.

Mouldy sound (Javi Félez - mastering, mixing), sick vocals, cover (Markus Vesper) as if cut from the 90s. Sharp riffs, recorded in the deepest underground. Lots of morbid riffs in the style of SKELETAL REMAINS, PESTILENCE, MALEVOLENT CREATION, SADISTIC INTENT, DEATH (the "Leprosy" era). All of this makes the new album literally a must for all the long-damned, for fans of absolute darkness, endless shadows and seemingly abandoned graveyards. After spending some time together, I found myself returning to the record over and over again, ripping it into my head under pressure and unable to shake the impression that I was being watched. I get up very early every day and the streets are still empty. But appearances can be deceiving. We old metal dogs know very well that if we concentrate and listen to records like "Fear the Apparition", they will gradually start to appear. The soulless, undead characters that this music can awaken. Sometimes when I really like an album, I don't even come to work. I'd rather be invited among the graves. I sit next to the morgue and I keep turning up the volume. When the sun comes out, I lie down in my coffin. I dare say, as an old undertaker, that the new APPARITION album is a success in every respect. It has everything in it that I want and that makes me feel good about my black soul. This is metal played from the heart, real and with a dark sparkle in its eye. If you like it this way (like I do), don't hesitate a moment. You will get a fair portion of raw meat! A rotten, moldy, ancient death metal experience! The exhumation was successful, the body disintegrated into dust!
