Potkávám ho každý den cestou do práce. Vypadá jako mrtvola v počátečním stádiu rozkladu. Už dlouho jsem se ho chtěl zeptat, co poslouchá za muziku a jaká je jeho oblíbená rakev. Jenže potom na nějakou dobu zmizel. Znovu jsme se sešli až na jednom hřbitově u nás ve městě. Konečně jsem viděl na jeho tváři úsměv. Měl na hlavě sluchátka a poslouchal nové EP německých CORPSEROT. Kapely, která hraje starý a prašivý death metal. Zeptal jsem se ho, jestli bych si mohl nahrát jejich novinku na kazetu a on mě pozval do márnice.
Na starém kazeťáku jsme udělali několik kopií, abych mohl šířit zkázu i mezi ostatní. Chvíli jsem si dokonce myslel, že se píše rok 1990, měl na sobě totiž starou džínovou vestu a jeho vizáž tomu také odpovídala. Znovu se usmál a zeptal se mě, jestli mi nevadí, že je dávno mrtvý. Odpověděl jsem, že nikoliv. Jen mi musí stále dodávat hudbu, jako je ta od CORPSEROT.
V muzice, která se na "Introspective Torture" odehrává, lze vystopovat vlivy kapel jako OBITUARY, BOLT THROWER, JUNGLE ROT, MORGOTH, CASKET. To ale není zase tolik důležité. Pro mě, i pro všechny nemrtvé je hlavní, že skladby řežou tou správnou stranou nože, že mě je baví poslouchat, že se k EP rád a často vracím. Kapela má na svém kontě ještě demonahrávku z roku 2021 ("Rise of the Corpses"). Tu také doporučuji si poslechnout. Uděláte si potom krásně morbidní a hlavně ucelený obrázek o téhle smečce. Já vím, podobných kapel, hrajících dnes starý kov smrti, je velká spousta. Pro nás, staré psy, je proto nutné, aby vše prošlo sítem. Hudba musí hnít, pálit a žhnout, musíte mít chuť vzít do rukou kladivo a rozmlátit nejbližší zeď. Myslím si a slyším to tak, že pánové se vydali správnou cestou. Rovnou do starých katakomb. Musím pochválit povedený zvuk i obal, ale hlavně nápady, kterých je velká spousta a nenudím se ani chvilku. Navíc, a to je pro mě asi nejdůležitější, mě baví nahrávku poslouchat. Rád se k ní vracím. Znovu a znovu otevírám kobku se jménem CORPSEROT. A pokaždé, když vstoupím dovnitř, tak ho potkám. Vypadá jako mrtvola v počátečním stádiu rozkladu. Dáme si pivo, zhasneme všechna světla a do kostí nám vleze chlad. Kýváme spokojeně hlavou a posloucháme tuhle desku stále dokola. Muzika se valí kupředu, nekompromisně, přesto melodicky a zajímavě. Víka od rakví praskají a lebky pukají tlakem. Old school death metalový stroj na zabíjení, který nezná slitování!

I meet him every day on my way to work. He looks like a corpse in the early stages of decomposition. I've been meaning to ask him what music he listens to and what his favorite coffin is. But then he disappeared for a while. We didn't meet again until we were in a cemetery in our town. I finally saw a smile on his face. He was wearing headphones and listening to the new EP of German CORPSEROT. A band that plays old and dusty death metal. I asked him if I could record their new release on cassette and he invited me to the morgue.
We made a few copies on an old cassette tape so I could spread the destruction to others. For a while I even thought it was 1990, because he was wearing an old denim vest and his appearance matched it. He smiled again and asked me if I minded that he was long dead. I said no. He just has to keep supplying me with music, like that of CORPSEROT.
In the music that takes place on "Introspective Torture", you can trace the influences of bands like OBITUARY, BOLT THROWER, JUNGLE ROT, MORGOTH, CASKET. But that's not so important. For me, and for all the undead, the main thing is that the songs cut with the right side of the knife, that I enjoy listening to them, that I like to come back to the EP often. The band also has a demo from 2021 ("Rise of the Corpses"), which I also recommend to listen to. You'll get a beautifully morbid and most importantly complete picture of this pack. I know, there are a lot of similar bands playing old death metal today. For us old dogs, it's essential that everything passes through the sieve. The music has to rot, burn and glow, you have to want to pick up a hammer and smash the nearest wall. I think, and I can hear it, that the gentlemen are on the right track. Straight to the old catacombs. I have to praise the hilarious sound and cover, but especially the ideas, which are plenty and I'm not bored for a moment. Moreover, and this is probably the most important thing for me, I enjoy listening to the record. I like coming back to it. I open the dungeon with the name CORPSEROT again and again. And every time I go in, I meet him. He looks like a corpse in the early stages of decomposition. We have a beer, turn off all the lights, and a chill creeps into our bones. We nod our heads in satisfaction and listen to this record over and over again. The music rolls forward, uncompromising, yet melodic and interesting. Coffin lids pop and skulls crack with pressure. An old school death metal killing machine that knows no mercy!
