Každou neděli ráno vstaneš, upravíš se, pozdravíš sousedy a sejdete se u starého kostela. Dnes je ale něco jinak. Poklekneš před dávno padlou modlou, kýváš souhlasně hlavou, když se kněz usmívá. Najednou se všechno změní. Z jeho úst vyjede jazyk hada a všichni kolem tebe konečně odhalí svojí pravou tvář. Uvidíš jejich temné myšlenky, chraktery ohlodané na kost. Dostaneš strach a utečeš dolů do sklepa. Celé to připomíná špatný hororový film, akorát s tím rozdílem, že bolest, kterou ucítíš, je opravdová. Vítej ve světě na druhé straně, vítej v říši hnusu a špíny, zla a nenávisti.
Pokaždé, když poslouchám nějakou novou desku, tak ji na sebe nechám nějaký čas působit. Čekám, jestli mě zaujme, zda pronikne do mých žil i do mozku. Poté se snažím popsat představy, které ve mě evokuje. Není žádným tajemnstvím, že mám americké THORN velmi rád. I u novinky jsem si sedl do temného pokoje, otevřel okno a nechal jejich doom death metal, aby mě vzal na dlouhý výlet na druhou stranu. Umřel jsem a několikrát se narodil. A vždy jsem si novou desku neskutečně užíval.
Pro mě je asi nejdůležitější to, že je Brennen Westermeyer velmi dobrý skladatel. Dokáže napsat motivy, které ve mě opravdu pobudí spoustu do černa zabarvených představ. "Evergloom" je jako jedovatý had, který se nejdřív plazí u vašich nohou, pak vás uhrane a nakonec uštkne. Jed se vám dostane pomalu do žil a vy nakonec zemřete v hrozných křečích. Vše zde sedí perfektně na svém místě. Mrazivý, temný a jasně čitelný zvuk, obal (Mark Cooper), který je velmi dobře namalovaný a jako motiv se opravdu přesně hodí ke skladbám. Vždycky mě bavilo navštěvovat staré opuštěné kostely, chrámy a přemýšlet, co se v nich kdysi odehrávalo. Na jeden takový výlet jsem si vzal i tohle album a byl jsem překvapen, kam se moje myšlenky rozlétly. Najednou jsem viděl za každým stínem padlého kněze, v opuštěných hrobkách ležela mrtvá těla hříšníků a mě pokaždé běhal mráz po zádech. Troufám si tvrdit, že někde v těchto místech muselo nové album vzniknout. Pokud totiž budete poslouchat pozorně, dostanete se jako já do zvláštního stavu, připomínajícího meditaci. Mezi naším a oním světem je oblast, která ještě není moc prozkoumaná. "Evergloom" je deskou, která vám umožní nahlédnout za oponu. Jen to chce čas, chladnou místnost a dobrou představivost. THORN opět nahráli desku, která se stala na dlouhý čas mým průvodcem v záhrobí. Líbí se mi její atmosféra, nálady, které kolem létají jako můry u rozsvícené lampy. Chrám chladu, temnoty, bolesti a prvotřídního doom death metal, znovu otevřel svoji bránu! Stačí jen vstoupit! Vynikající obřad!

Every Sunday morning, you get up, you get dressed, you say hello to your neighbors, and you meet at the old church. But today is different. You kneel before a long-fallen idol, nod your head in agreement as the priest smiles. Suddenly, everything changes. The tongue of the serpent comes out of his mouth and everyone around you finally reveals their true colors. You will see their dark thoughts, gnawed to the bone. You get scared and run down to the basement. It's like a bad horror movie, except the pain you feel is real. Welcome to the world on the other side, welcome to the realm of shit and filth, evil and hate.
Every time I listen to a new record, I let it affect me for a while. I wait to see if it grabs my attention, if it penetrates my veins and my brain. Then I try to describe the images it evokes in me. It's no secret that I like American THORN very much. Even with the new release, I sat down in a dark room, opened the window and let their doom death metal take me on a long trip to the other side. I have died and been born several times. And I always enjoyed the new record immensely.
Probably the most important thing for me is that Brennen Westermeyer is a very good songwriter. He can write themes that really stir up a lot of black-tinged ideas in me. "Evergloom" is like a poisonous snake that first crawls at your feet, then finally bites you. The venom slowly gets into your veins and you end up dying in horrible convulsions. Everything here fits perfectly in place. The chilling, dark and clear sound, the cover art (by Mark Cooper) which is very well painted and as a theme really fits the song exactly. I've always enjoyed visiting old abandoned churches, temples and wondering what used to happen in them. I took this album on one such trip and was surprised where my thoughts went. Suddenly I saw a fallen priest behind every shadow, dead bodies of sinners lying in abandoned tombs, and a chill ran down my spine every time. I dare say that somewhere in these places the new album must have been made. If you listen carefully, you will get into a strange state, like me, reminiscent of meditation. Between our world and the other world is an area that hasn't been explored much. "Evergloom" is a record that lets you look behind the curtain. It just takes time, a cool room and a good imagination. THORN have once again recorded a album that has become my guide to the afterlife for a long time. I like its atmosphere, the moods that fly around like moths by a lit lamp. The temple of cold, darkness, pain and first class doom death metal, has opened its gates again! Just enter! Excellent ceremony!
