Po každé válce zůstanou tisíce lidí poznamenaných. Mají děsivé sny, neustále se jim vrací bolest, kterou zažili. Už nikdy si neužijí slunce, už nikdy se nebudou mít rádi. Budou neustále přemýšlet, co mohli udělat jinak. Někteří se stanou šílenci, jiní si prostřelí hlavu, mnozí zemřou o samotě, protože jim nikdo nezůstal. Stane se z nich zástup nemrtvých, kteří budou toužit po pomstě. Nenávist až za hrob. Smutek, ten nekonečný smutek v jejich očích. Nikdy bych si nemyslel, že někdo dokáže tyto pocity zhudebnit.

Německých avantgardním black metalistům PORTA NIGRA se to povedlo. Pomocí klasického černého kovu z devadesátých let minulého století, který je obohacen o spoustu dalších vlivů. Od thrashe, doomu, až po death metal. A samozřejmě velká porce avantgardy předložená přesně tím způsobem, který máme u téhle smečky tolik rádi.

Novinka je velmi neklidná, zvláštní takovým tím "nepříjemným" způsobem. Pánové vás vezmou na výlet po časové ose zpět. Ocitnete se v období před velkou válkou, nasajete pach expresionismu, ale hlavně, užijete si velmi naléhavou a poctivou muziku. Kapela zpívá německy, což dodává skladbám na ještě větší uvěřitelnosti. Přiznám se bez mučení, většinou poslouchám trošku jiný styl hudby, ale při "Weltende" jsem si připadal, jako bych byl stažen do temných hlubin. Viděl jsem před sebou davy usměvavých lidí, kteří ještě nevěděli, že budou za několik let mrtví. Odkrýval jsem hromadné hroby, užíval si každý riff, každý tón. Na téhle skupině se mi vždy líbilo, že jsou jiní, odlišní, nezařaditelní. Mají vlastní výraz a nekonečnou fantazii. Zároveň vždy odvedou poctivou práci. Je až šokující a velmi bolestivé, jak se historie neustále dokola opakuje. Pokud má být tohle album upozorněním, zdviženým prstem, tak se povedlo i po této stránce. Poslední roky nad podobnými tématy hodně přemýšlím. Proč neustále opakujeme stejné chyby? Nemusíte ale k nahrávce přistupovat jen "filozoficky". Pokud si chcete užít pouze muziku, tak jej oceníte určitě také. I tak ucítíte ze skladeb děs a hrůzu, které může způsobit jenom válka. Novinka je velmi dynamická, pestrá, temná, depresivní a přitažlivá zároveň. Působí na mě až magickým účinkem. Black metalový otisk temné války! Esence avantgardy, metafora absolutní tmy a bolesti!

They will never enjoy the sun again, never love each other again. They will always wonder what they could have done differently. Sadness, the endless sadness in their eyes. I never thought anyone could put these feelings to music.

German avant-garde black metallers PORTA NIGRA have done it. Using classic black metal from the nineties, enriched with a lot of other influences. From thrash, doom, to death metal. And of course a big portion of avant-garde presented in exactly the way we love so much with this pack.

The novelty is very unsettling, in a weird "unpleasant" kind of way. The gentlemen take you on a trip back in time. You will find yourself in the period before the Great War, you will absorb the smell of expressionism, but most importantly, you will enjoy very urgent and honest music. The band sings in German, which makes the songs even more believable. I'll admit without torture, I usually listen to a slightly different style of music, but with "Weltende" I felt like I was pulled into the dark depths. I saw crowds of smiling people in front of me who didn't yet know they would be dead in a few years. I was uncovering mass graves, enjoying every riff, every note. What I always liked about this band was that they were different, distinct, unclassifiable. They have their own expression and endless imagination. At the same time, they always do an honest job. It is shocking and very painful how history repeats itself over and over again. If this album is meant to be a warning, a raised finger, then it succeeds in that aspect as well. I've been thinking a lot about this sort of thing lately. Why do we keep repeating the same mistakes? But you don't have to approach the record just "philosophically". If you just want to enjoy the music, you will appreciate it too. Even so, you will still feel from the songs the terror and horror that only war can cause. The new album is very dynamic, colorful, dark, depressing and appealing at the same time. It has an almost magical effect on me. Black metal imprint of a dark war! The essence of avant-garde, a metaphor of absolute darkness and pain!
