Bývá hrozně těžké vysvětlit někomu mimo underground, jak mám rád živé koncerty. Slovy nelze vyjádřit napětí, drive, temnou energii, chlad, spoustu zvláštních emocí. Někdo vše vysvětluje adrenalinem, ale myslím, že je v tom něco víc. Poslouchám death metal více než třicet let. A stále mám sny. Třeba finské CORPSESSED jsem ještě na koncertě neviděl. A proto jsem byl velmi rád, když mi přišla na recenzi nová deska.

Nahrávalo se v Braincrusher na Hell Festivalu v Hirschaidu, v Německu, 22. listopadu 2022. Pustil jsem si doma hi-fi věž a ocitl se uprostřed davu. Mám tuhle smečku opravdu rád. Hraje zajímavě, je hodně slyšet, že pánové mají velký talent pro záhrobní věci. Jsem velmi spokojený, kývám se do rytmu, jako starý hrobník, tleskám po jednotlivých skladbách.

Většinou se mi moc záznamy živých vystoupení nelíbí. Bývá to hlavně kvůli zvuku. Tentokrát jsem ale nadšený. Mistru Loic Fontainemu z Krucyator Studia se povedlo vytvořit masivní, hutný, surový a drsný zvuk, který tuhle kapelu charakterizuje. Vše je čitelné, nikde nic nepřebývá, nikde nic nechybí. Pochválit musím i obal, jehož autorem je Roni Ärling. Ten se přesně trefil do mého vkusu, černobílé kresby jsou podle mě stejně nejlepší. CORPSESSED mají velký dar napsat velmi dobré songy, které postupně gradují, mají v sobě sílu a nahrubo nasekanou tmu. Také zvláštní melancholii, tolik charakteristickou pro kapely z Finska. Pokud tyhle šílence neznáte a jste fanoušci třeba takových DISMA, CRUCIAMENTUM, KRYPTS, GRAVE MIASMA, INCANTATION, VORUM, FUNEBRARUM, tak si prosím doplňte hudební vzdělání. Líbí se mi, jakým způsobem pánové přistupují k hudbě. Je slyšet, že hrají od srdce, věřím jim každý tón, každou notu. Riffy mě pálí ve vnitřnostech, mozek se vaří ve vlastní šťávě. Zajdu si pro další pivo a i když jsem ve svém pokoji, tak je zde jen moje tělo. Mysl se toulá spolu s kapelou na Braincrusher in Hell Festivalu. Vedle mě stojí z jedné strany Smrt a z druhé Satan. Svět je najednou hodně temné místo a celý koncert připomíná více starodávnou seanci, než jen obyčejné vystoupení. O to víc lituji, že jsem nemohl vše zažít a o to víc si "Skeletal Grotesquery" užívám. Nahrávku vám mohu doporučit. Pokud jste jako já, neměli možnost vidět tyhle maniaky naživo, tak rozhodně neváhejte. Divoký, temný, rituální death metalový tanec mezi pavučinami!

It can be very hard to explain to someone outside the underground how much I love live shows. Words can't express the tension, the drive, the dark energy, the coldness, the many strange emotions. Some people explain it by adrenaline, but I think there's more to it than that. I've been listening to death metal for over thirty years. And I still have dreams. I've never seen Finnish CORPSESSED in concert before. And that's why I was very happy when I got a new record to review.

It was recorded at the Braincrusher at the Hell Festival in Hirschaid, Germany, on November 22, 2022. I turned on my hi-fi tower at home and found myself in the middle of the crowd. I really like this pack. The playing is interesting, you can hear a lot that the gentlemen have a great talent for the afterlife stuff. I'm very pleased, swaying to the beat like an old undertaker, clapping along after each song.

I don't usually like live performance recordings very much. It's mostly because of the sound. But this time I'm excited. Master Loic Fontana from Krucyator Studio managed to create a massive, dense, raw and harsh sound that characterizes this band. Everything is clear, nothing is missing, nothing is missing anywhere. I must also praise the cover artwork by Roni Ärling. He hit my taste exactly, the black and white artwork is the best in my opinion anyway. CORPSESSED have a great gift for writing very good songs that gradually graduate, have power and coarsely chopped darkness in them. Also a special melancholy, so characteristic of bands from Finland. If you don't know these madmen and you are a fan of the likes of DISMA, CRUCIAMENTUM, KRYPTS, GRAVE MIASMA, INCANTATION, VORUM, FUNEBRARUM, then please supplement your musical education. I like the way the gentlemen approach music. You can hear that they play from the heart, I trust them with every note, every note. The riffs make my guts burn, my brain boils in its own juices. I go for another beer and even though I'm in my room, it's just my body. My mind wanders with the band at the Braincrusher in Hell Festival. Next to me stands Death on one side and Satan on the other. The world is suddenly a very dark place, and the whole concert feels more like an ancient seance than a simple performance. I regret not being able to experience everything and enjoy "Skeletal Grotesquery" all the more. I can recommend the recording to you. If, like me, you haven't had a chance to see these maniacs live, definitely don't hesitate. Wild, dark, ritualistic death metal dance among the cobwebs!
