Pokaždé, když najdu v lese nějaké mrtvé tělo, tak přemýšlím, jakým způsobem zemřelo. Někdy je ticho, někdy slyším podivný šepot. Občas se ale setkám i s přízraky, které vystoupí z mlhy a vyprávějí mi divoké a morbidní příběhy ze záhrobí. Proříznuté hrdlo, polámané kosti. Postupný rozklad a nakonec po vás zbyde jenom prach. Cítím, že je smrt hodně blízko. Když poslouchám nové album francouzských death metalistů NIHILISM, tak mě vždy pohltí temnota.
Stane se tak hned při prvním riffu, během první skladby. Pánové totiž umí navodit atmosféru, kterou lze zažít právě jen na místech, kde někdo zemřel. O tom tenhle styl vždycky býval. O chladu, o prašivině, o čerstvě exhumovaných hrobech. Poprvé jsem se s francouzskou smečkou setkal u minulé nahrávky. A moc se mi líbila. Měla v sobě něco magicky morbidního, děsivého, zlého. Novinka je jejím volným pokračováním. Opět nacházím u cesty bílé kosti a lebky, smějící se do tmy.
Určitě také máte rádi, když se vám dostane hudba pod kůži, když začne kolovat ve vašich žilách. Přiznám se, že nová nahrávka "Codex Nihilistic Exhumed" se pro mě stala doslova drogou. Byl jsem na ní závislý, musel jí poslouchat cestou do práce, v autě, v noci, když byly mraky nízko. Venku už bylo teplo, ale mé kosti byly zmrzlé. Songy jsou totiž velmi dobře napsány. Z desky je slyšet, že je nahrána od srdce. Fanoušci třeba takových DEICIDE, VADER, ASPHYX, BLOODBATH, MORGOTH by měli určitě zbystřit svoji pozornost. Hraje se tu převážně pro ně a také pro všechny prokleté. Jasně, je to starý, chladný a prašivý smrtící kov, který není ničím nový, ale rozhodně se nejedná jen o dobré řemeslo. Naopak, při každém setkání mám hroznou chuť vzít do rukou kladivo a jít rozbít nějakou starou rakev. Nahrávka, která má velmi dobrý zvuk (Damien Dausch - mixing, mastering, Sébastien Pasqualotto - recording) i zajímavý a zapamatovatelný obal (autorem je Vincent Fouquet), se stala krvavým otiskem v mé mysli. Mám rád, když hraje kapela od srdce, když dojde ke vzájemnému přenosu temných emocí. Francouzi na to jsou postaru, poctivě, s takovou tou ryzí jiskrou, která se nedá naučit. Musíte jí mít v sobě, musíte věřit tomu, co hrajete. Mrzí mě snad jen jediné, že jsem neviděl, jak působí jejich muzika i na živých vystoupeních. Ale co není, může být. Každopádně, "Codex Nihilistic Exhumed" je albem, které mě rozsekalo na kusy! Prach jsi a v prach se obrátíš! Old school death metal plný chladu a absolutní tmy!

Gradual decomposition, and in the end, all you're left with is dust. I feel death is very close. When I listen to the new album by French death metallers NIHILISM, I'm always engulfed in darkness.
It happens at the very first riff, during the first song. The gentlemen know how to create an atmosphere that can only be experienced in places where someone has died. That's what this style has always been about. The cold, the dirt, the freshly exhumed graves. I first met the French pack on the last record. And I loved it. There was something magically morbid, eerie, evil about it. The new one is a loose continuation of that. Again, I find white bones and skulls on the side of the road, laughing in the dark.
I'm sure you also love it when the music gets under your skin, when it starts coursing through your veins. I must admit that the new record "Codex Nihilistic Exhumed" has literally become a drug for me. I was addicted to it, had to listen to it on the way to work, in the car, at night when the clouds were low. It was already warm outside, but my bones were frozen. The songs are very well written. You can hear from the record that it was recorded from the heart. Fans of the likes of DEICIDE, VADER, ASPHYX, BLOODBATH, MORGOTH should definitely pay attention. It's played mostly for them and also for all the damned. Sure, it's old, cold and dusty death metal that's nothing new, but it's definitely not just good craftsmanship. On the contrary, every time I encounter it, I have a terrible urge to pick up a hammer and go smash some old coffin. The recording, which has a very good sound (Damien Dausch - mixing, mastering, Sébastien Pasqualotto - recording) and an interesting and memorable cover (by Vincent Fouquet), has become a bloody imprint in my mind. I like it when a band plays from the heart, when there is a mutual transmission of dark emotions. The French are old-fashioned, honest, with the kind of pure sparkle that can't be taught. You have to have it in you, you have to believe in what you're playing. My only regret is that I haven't seen how their music works in live performances. But what isn't, can be. Anyway, "Codex Nihilistic Exhumed" is the album that blew me to pieces! Dust you are and to dust you shall return! Old school death metal full of coldness and absolute darkness!
