Chvíli jsem nevěděl, jestli vstoupit. Už zvenčí vypadal celý chrám velmi nepřístupně, chladně a temně. Říká se o něm, že zde sídlí démoni, že se zde dějí podivné věci. Smrt je ale tolik lákavá. Obestřená tajemstvím. Otevírám velké rezavé dveře a ihned mě uhodí do obličeje masivní zápach rozkládajících se těl. Slyším šepot nemrtvých. Procházím se mezi studenými stěnami a přemýšlím, kdy jsem zde byl naposled. Možná v někdy v devadesátých letech minulého století.
Ano, francouzští veteráni CATACOMB jsou zpět, aby nás vzali na reálný death metalový výlet do hudební historie. Stačilo několik společných setkání s jejich novou deskou "When the Stars Are Right" a moje duše zažívala peklo. Majestátní melodie, temný a zuřivý zvuk. Poklekám před trůnem a klaním se až k zemi. Ďábel zase jednou ukázal svoji tvář.
Pro staré fanoušky kovu smrti, kteří pamatují dávnou slávu death metalu, bylo uděláno vše. Kapela hraje od srdce, velmi uvěřitelně. Pohybuje se v záhrobí s elegancí a jistotou mistrů v oboru. V některých momentech lze vzpomenout na kolegy MORBID ANGEL, IMMOLATION, v jiných zase BEHEMOTH, ale vše je opatřeno originálním rukopisem. Ze skladeb odkapává zkažená krev a vy si tak můžete vychutnat magickou a podmanivou atmosféru. Zaujal mě (jako vždy) obal od Daemorph Art, na kterého je vždy spolehnutí. Skladby mě řežou a pálí, obsahují v sobě velké množství nakumulovaného vzteku. Otevírám další hrob a vzpomínám na své předky. Zde, ve starých, dávno opuštěných katakombách, vynikne "When the Stars Are Right" nejlépe. Doporučuji poslouchat ve tmě a absolutním tichu. Teprve pak poznáte opravdovou zlobu, která ze songů doslova odkapává, jako hnis z pulsujícího vředu. Je jasné a pochopitelné, že pánové nepřinášejí nic nového. Jsem tomu rád, od podobných skupin to očekávám a požaduji. Nenechte se ale mýlit, album není jen dobrým řemeslem skvělých muzikantů. Má v sobě i něco navíc, co vás přikove na zeď. Budete si podupávat nohou do rytmu a setkáte se s démony. Za mě se novinka opravdu povedla. Je mocnou odpovědí na ozvěny ze záhrobí. Slyším šepot nemrtvých. Procházím se mezi studenými stěnami a přemýšlím, kdy jsem zde byl naposled. Možná někdy v devadesátých letech minulého století. Majestátní, mocný a temný death metalový obřad z chrámu smrti!

Yes, French veterans CATACOMB are back to take us on a real death metal trip into musical history. It only took a few sessions together with their new album "When the Stars Are Right" and my soul was experiencing hell. Majestic melodies, dark and furious sound. I kneel before the throne and bow to the ground. The devil has shown his face once again.
Everything has been done for the old death metal fans who remember the former glory of death metal. The band plays from the heart, very believable. They move in the afterlife with the elegance and confidence of masters in the craft. In some moments one can recall fellow MORBID ANGEL, IMMOLATION, in others BEHEMOTH, but everything is provided with an original signature. The songs drip with bad blood and you can enjoy the magical and captivating atmosphere. I was impressed (as always) by the cover art by Daemorph Art, who can always be relied upon. The tracks cut and burn for me, containing a great deal of accumulated rage. I open another grave and remember my ancestors. Here, in the old, long-abandoned catacombs, "When the Stars Are Right" stands out best. I recommend listening in darkness and absolute silence. Only then will you know the true anger that literally drips from the songs, like pus from a throbbing ulcer. It is clear and understandable that the gentlemen bring nothing new. I'm glad for that, I expect and demand it from bands like this. But make no mistake, the album is not just good craftsmanship by great musicians. It has something extra that will drive you up the wall. You'll be tapping your foot to the beat and meeting demons. For me, the new album is really good. It's a powerful answer to echoes from beyond the grave. I hear the whispers of the undead. I walk between the cold walls and wonder when I was last time here. Maybe sometime in the 1990s. A majestic, powerful and dark death metal ritual from the temple of death!
