Je ještě tma a smog v ulicích. Měl bych jít do práce, ale nechce se mi. Raději se zastavím na hřbitově, kolem kterého chodím každý den. Přízraky už na mě čekají. Podáme si ruce a vyprávějí mi o svých bolestech. Pozvou mě do márnice a představí mi nově příchozí. Už se těším, až přejdu na druhou stranu, do země stínů. Už se těším, až budu poslouchat novou desku floridských SOULMASS. Přidávám postupně hlasitost a připadám si jako by moje tělo už nějakou dobu tlelo v zemi.
Téhle smečce jsme se u nás na stránkách již jednou věnovali (odkaz na recenzi minulého alba "The Weakness of Virtue" je dole pod článkem). Novinka je volným pokračováním, šedivou mantrou, která mi ihned pronikla do žil. Death metal a doom ve vzájemné, syrové a surové symbióze. Slyšte ozvěny ze záhrobí!
Na téhle smečce se mi vždy líbilo, že má svůj jasný a zřetelný rukopis. Stačí několik prvních tónů a ihned je poznám. Ostré riffy, mocné nástupy, chorály smrti. To vše zabalené v krásném obalu a s parádním zvukem. Novinka "Let Us Pray" má v sobě velké množství nápadů, zajímavých momentů. V ulicích se válí krvavá mlha a ze tmy se na vás dívají oči lovců. Skladby v sobě mají drive, sílu, takové to těžko popsatelné chvění, které vás přikove na zeď, případně pohřbí zaživa. SOULMASS mi hrají do kroku. Našlapuji opatrně, pod nohama mi praskají zpuchřelé kosti. Jsem již dávno na druhé straně, v zemi nekonečných stínů, v bažinách, ze kterých není návratu. Album má podmanivou, hororovou atmosféru, spoustu do černé zabarvených nálad. Jsem moc rád, že mě přízraky pozvaly na svoji seanci a pustily mi tuhle desku. Tančíme na hrobech a kopeme díry ve zmrzlé zemi. Tak nějak podvědomě cítím, že jsem tu správně, že tohle je přesně typ muziky, která mi koluje v žilách. Ťukám na dřevěnou rakev, kývu se do rytmu, užívám si mrazivé melodie, lebky rozmlácené tlakem. SOULMASS jsou ve skvělé formě. Děsiví, záhadní, chladní jako ruka dobře uleželé mrtvoly. Přízraky už na mě čekají. Podáme si ruce a vyprávějí mi o svých bolestech. Pozvou mě do márnice a představí mi nově příchozí. Doom death metalový pohřeb prokletých duší zahalený do syrové tmy!

The new one is a loose continuation, a grey mantra that immediately penetrated my veins. Death metal and doom in a mutual, raw symbiosis. Hear the echoes from beyond the grave!
What I've always liked about this pack is that it has a clear and distinct signature. Just the first few notes and I know them immediately. Sharp riffs, powerful build-ups, death chants. All wrapped up in a beautiful package with a great sound. The new album "Let Us Pray" has a lot of ideas, and interesting moments. Blood mist rolls in the streets and the eyes of the hunters look at you from the darkness. The songs have drive, power, that hard-to-describe shiver that will nail you to the wall or bury you alive. SOULMASS plays in my step. I tread lightly, the rotten bones cracking under my feet. I'm long past the other side, in a land of endless shadows, a swamp from which there is no return. The album has a haunting, horror atmosphere, and lots of black-tinged moods. I'm so glad the phantoms invited me to their séance and played me this album. We dance on graves and dig holes in the frozen ground. I kind of subconsciously feel that I'm right here, that this is exactly the type of music that runs through my veins. I tap on the wooden coffin, swaying to the rhythm, enjoying the chilling melody, the skulls crushed by the pressure. SOULMASS is in great form. Creepy, mysterious, cold as the hand of a well-laid corpse. The ghosts are waiting for me. We shake hands and they tell me of their pains. They invite me into the morgue and introduce me to the new arrivals. A doom-death metal funeral of damned souls shrouded in raw darkness!
