SIEGE OF POWER - This Is Tomorrow

Už se na to nemohl dívat. Ukládal v sobě vztek dlouhé roky. Krev se mu vařila v žilách, když viděl večerní zprávy. Bránil se tomu, ale nakonec zvítězila přirozenost. Touha po krvi, po smrti, po dobrém thrash a death metalu. Vzal do rukou sekyru a rozmlátil nejbližší obrazovku. Frustrace, nenávist, mozek se mu uvařil ve vlastní šťávě. Máme tu novou desku superskupiny SIEGE OF POWER. Poslouchám ji stále dokola a mám pocit, že musím něco zničit.

Je v ní pradávný vztek, taková ta poctivá metalová síla, která se dle mého nedá naučit. Musíte jí mít v sobě, musí ve vás vřít. Krev nelze jen tak vyměnit. Pánové z ASPHYX a AUTOPSY to moc dobře vědí. Odjistili další granát a hodili ho mezi nás. Stačí jen pustit play a rozdrtit nejbližší lebku. Hergot, tohle řeže jako čerstvě nabroušený skalpel!

Minulé album "Warning Blast" (2018) (recenze a rozhovor odkazovány dole pod článkem) bylo možná více death metalové. Na novince vystupuje do popředí staroškolský, vysokooktanový thrash metal (německá škola, například NECROMONICON). Samozřejmě, jinak se pánové nadále drží základů, které kdysi vytvořily kapely typu CARNIVORE, BOLT THROWER, CELTIC FROST, HELLHAMMER, ENTOMBED, VENOM, BLACK SABBATH, BATHORY. Netřeba ale přirovnávat, hlavní je to, že letos přeci jen zvítězila rychlost, temná síla a energie. Kapela na mě působí jako smečka prašivých psů, kteří sice nevymýšlejí nic nového, ale hrát umějí na výbornou. Není divu, jedná se o skvělé muzikanty s velkými zkušenosti, kteří ale zároveň neztratili jiskru a nadšení, vášeň. Skladby jsou skvěle napsány, takovýto krvavý rukopis mám moc rád. Skvělý je i zvuk (Erwin Hermsen), který balancuje mezi starobou a čitelnou úderností. O obalu netřeba diskutovat, Roberto Toderico odvedl parádní práci. Pro mě jsou ale hlavní nápady, kterých je velká spousta. Nahrávka je velmi morbidně pestrá. A já nemohu jinak, než hodnotit hodně vysoko. "This Is Tomorrow" je nejen doslova smrtícím kovem té nejvyšší kvality, ale i zásahem přímo na komoru. Novinka je zběsilou jízdou přímo do pekla. Mám sto chutí mlátit hlavou o zeď. Totální death thrash metalová destrukce lidské mysli! SIEGE OF POWER vás rozsápou na kusy!

Bloodlust, deathlust, good thrash and death metal. He picked up an axe and smashed the nearest screen. Frustration, hatred, his brain boiled in its own juices. We have a new album from the superband SIEGE OF POWER. I listen to it over and over and I feel like I have to destroy something.

There's an ancient rage in it, a kind of honest metal power that I don't think can be taught. You have to have it in you, it has to boil in you. You can't just replace the blood. The gentlemen from ASPHYX and AUTOPSY know it very well. They armed another grenade and threw it among us. Just let it play and crush the nearest skull. Damn, this cuts like a freshly sharpened scalpel!

The previous album "Warning Blast" (2018) (review and interview linked at the bottom of the article) was perhaps more death metal. On the new one, old school, high-octane thrash metal (German school, e.g. NECROMONICON) comes to the fore. Of course, otherwise, the gentlemen continue to stick to the foundations once laid by bands like CARNIVORE, BOLT THROWER, CELTIC FROST, HELLHAMMER, ENTOMBED, VENOM, BLACK SABBATH, BATHORY. But no need to compare, the main thing is that this year speed, dark power and energy won. The band strikes me as a pack of mangy dogs, who don't invent anything new, but can play perfectly. No wonder, these are great musicians with a lot of experience, but at the same time they haven't lost their spark and enthusiasm, their passion. The songs are brilliantly written, I love this kind of bloody signature. The sound (Erwin Hermsen) is also great, balancing between old age and audible punch. No need to comment on the cover art, Roberto Toderico did a great job. But for me the main thing are the ideas, of which there are a great many. The recording is very morbidly varied. And I can't help but rate it very highly. "This Is Tomorrow" is not only literally death metal of the highest quality, but it hits right on the chamber. The novelty is a frantic ride straight to hell. I feel like banging my head against the wall. Total death thrash metal destruction of the human mind! SIEGE OF POWER will tear you to pieces!
