Jenom já a hudba. Neexistuje okolní svět. Pouze melodie, riffy, rytmus. Daleko od utrpení, od bolesti. Procházím se po starých pohřebištích a rozmlouvám s nemrtvými. Našlapuji tiše a poslouchám bedlivě. Nové desky mých oblíbených GRACELESS jsou pro mě vždy velkou událostí. Mám rád jejich rukopis, obdivuji magickou atmosféru. Moje myšlenky jsou nasáklé zkaženou krví. Umírám a znovu se rodím. V nekonečném kruhu věčnosti.

U nahrávek jako je "Chants from Purgatory" bývám zcela mimo tento svět. Jsem v jiné dimenzi. Na místech, kde je navěky uctívám starý poctivý death metal i mrazivý doom. Novinka je pro mě zrcadlem, obrazem toho, co mám na muzice rád. Napětí, černou energii, tajemno a spoustu dalších temných emocí. Uzavírám se do opuštěné kobky a přidávám hlasitost.

Poslouchat "Chants from Purgatory" je jako potkat duše svých předků. Mám tuhle hudbu zakódovanou někde hluboko v genech. Je mojí součástí a i když bych hrozně rád napsal něco kritického, tak nemůžu. Není vlastně co. Zvuk je masivní, chladný, čistý a bolestivý (JB van der Wal - Producer, Mixing, Tom Meier - Recording), obal démonický a přitažlivý (Daemorph Art). Nechme ale stranou formální stránku, tohle je smečka složená ze samých zkušených muzikantů, mě nejvíc stejně oslovily nálady prolínající se deskou jako jedovatí hadi. Jsou záhadné, černé, magické. Jako bych se opravdu procházel mimo tenhle svět. Hluboko pod zemí, v nekonečných chodbách. Přízraky i děsivé noční můry, negace všeho dobrého. Odkrývám jako nějaký archeolog jednotlivé vrstvy. Další skladba, další riff. Ne, teď už to vím, GRACELESS se kdysi dávno upsali ďáblu. Jinak si to nedovedu vysvětlit. Nové album je totiž dokonalé po všech stránkách. Najednou jsem já přízrakem, procházejícím se daleko za řekou Styx, v močálech, kde trpí všichni prokletí. Nahrávka je jako zlý sen, ze kterého se už nikdy neprobudíte. Je napsána se zkušenostmi starých mistrů. Zároveň má v sobě temnou energii, načerpanou snad někde na onom světě. Jenom já a hudba. Neexistuje okolní svět. Pouze melodie, riffy, rytmus. Daleko od utrpení, od bolesti. Procházím se po starých pohřebištích a rozmlouvám s nemrtvými. Éterem zní "Chants from Purgatory" a mlha má barvu krve. Death doom metalové ozvěny ze starých pohřebišť!

With records like "Chants from Purgatory" I'm completely out of this world. I'm in another dimension. In a place where I will forever worship old honest death metal and chilling doom. The new stuff is a mirror for me, a reflection of what I love about music. The tension, the black energy, the mystery and a lot of other dark emotions. I lock myself in an abandoned dungeon and turn up the volume.

Listening to "Chants from Purgatory" is like meeting the souls of your ancestors. I have this music coded deep in my genes. It's a part of me, and as much as I'd love to write something critical, I can't. There's nothing to do. The sound is massive, cold, pure and painful (JB van der Wal - Producer, Mixing, Tom Meier - Recording), the cover is demonic and appealing (Daemorph Art). But leaving aside the formal side, this is a band made up of all experienced musicians, what appealed to me the most anyway were the moods running through the record like venomous snakes. They are mysterious, black, magical. It's like I'm really walking out of this world. Deep underground, in endless corridors. Ghosts and terrifying nightmares, the negation of all that is good. Like an archaeologist uncovering layers. Another track, another riff. No, now I know, GRACELESS signed up with the devil a long time ago. I can't explain it any other way. The new album is perfect in every way. Suddenly I'm a ghost, walking far beyond the River Styx, in the swamps where all the damned suffer. The record is like a bad dream you'll never wake up from. It is written with the experience of the old masters. At the same time, it has a dark energy, perhaps drawn from somewhere beyond. Just me and the music. There is no outside world. Just the melody, the riffs, the rhythm. Far from suffering, far from pain. I walk through old burial grounds and talk to the undead. The ether is "Chants from Purgatory" and the fog is the color of blood. Death doom metal echoes from old burial grounds!
