Sny jsou územím duchů. Zlých duchů. Jenže tohle není sen, ale krutá a ošklivá realita. Stále se klaníme dávno padlým modlám, stále bojujeme slepě za víru. Máme málo času, přesto jej věnujeme negativním myšlenkám. Je dobré se občas zastavit a ohlédnout se zpět. Kupříkladu mě se to stalo v momentě, kdy jsem začal poslouchat novou desku britských DE PROFUNDIS. Přiznám se, že mě doslova uhranula. Najednou jsem se toulal na onom světě a rozmlouval s duchy. Se špatnými duchy.
A i ti mi říkali, že mám stále dál vyhledávat dobrou muziku, podporovat ji a rozšiřovat. U DE PROFUNDIS to udělám hrozně rád. Hrají totiž upřímně, s černou jiskrou v oku, s nadšením a odhodláním. Navíc jsou skvělí muzikanti, kteří do klasického death metalu dokáží propašovat spoustu zajímavých a neotřelých momentů. Přidejte hlasitost a uslyšíte sami!
Pokaždé, když potkám podobné nahrávky jako je "The Corruption of Virtue", mám radost. A je to radost starého metalového psa, který se toulá podzemím již desítky let. Britové jsou zkrátka jiní, odlišní, zajímaví a progresivní takovým tím přirozeným způsobem. Pokud máte rádi kapely typu OPETH, DISMEMBER, EDGE OF SANITY, HYPOCRISY, PESTILENCE, VADER, BOLT THROWER, AT THE GATES, CARCASS, asi víte, o čem píšu. DE PROFUNDIS mají navíc svůj styl, rukopis a hlavně spoustu nápadů, které na nahrávku doslova vypálili pod tlakem. Cítím z jednotlivých songů zvláštní chvění a hrozně mě baví se k nim neustále vracet. Jakoby mi po celou dobu poslechu někdo držel pod krkem břitvu. Spousta temných emocí, ale i naděje, tohle všechno z alba cítím. Je nebývale pestré, i když zahalené převážně do krvavě černých barev. Zároveň drží velmi kompaktně pohromadě. Zvuk, obal, vše je na svých místech a jen doplňuje skvělou řemeslnou zručnost jednotlivých muzikantů. Riffy ostré jako břitva, vokál bestie, bicí, u kterých vám popraskají kosti. Sny jsou územím duchů. Zlých duchů. A DE PROFUNDIS nás vzali na krásně morbidní výlet do temnoty. Všechny modly už dávno shořely a zůstala po nich je mrtvá těla, ohlodaná na kost. Z novinky cítím mráz, tmu, oheň i smrt. Temný, chladný, zničující death metal, který vás spálí na popel!

Dreams are ghost territory. Evil spirits. But this isn't a dream, it's a cruel and ugly reality. We still bow down to long-fallen idols, still fight blindly for the faith. We have little time, yet we devote it to negative thoughts. It is good to stop and look back from time to time. For example, this happened to me the moment I started listening to the new album by British DE PROFUNDIS. I admit that I was literally bewitched by it. Suddenly I was wandering in the other world and talking to ghosts, bad ghosts.
And even they were telling me to keep looking for good music, to support it and to spread it. I'd love to do that with DE PROFUNDIS. Because they play with sincerity, with a black sparkle in their eyes, with enthusiasm and determination. Moreover, they are great musicians who can sneak a lot of interesting and fresh moments into classic death metal. Turn up the volume and hear for yourself!
Every time I come across a record like "The Corruption of Virtue", I get happy. And it's the joy of an old metal dog that has been roaming the underground for decades. The Brits are simply different, interesting and progressive in that natural way. If you like bands like OPETH, DISMEMBER, EDGE OF SANITY, HYPOCRISY, PESTILENCE, VADER, BOLT THROWER, AT THE GATES, CARCASS, you probably know what I'm writing about. Moreover, DE PROFUNDIS have their own style, signature and most importantly a lot of ideas that they literally burned on the record under pressure. I feel a special tingle from each song and I enjoy coming back to them all the time. It's like someone is holding a razor under my neck the whole time I'm listening. Lots of dark emotions, but also hope, I can feel all of this from the album. It's unusually colourful, even though it's mostly shrouded in bloody black. At the same time it holds together very compactly. The sound, the cover art, everything is in place and only adds to the great skill of the individual musicians. Razor sharp riffs, beast vocals, drums that will crack your bones. Dreams are ghost territory. Bad ghosts. And DE PROFUNDIS took us on a beautifully morbid trip into the darkness. All the idols have long since burned up, and what's left are dead bodies, gnawed to the bone. The new release reeks of cold, darkness, fire and death. Dark, cold, devastating death metal that will burn you to ashes!
