Nakonec ho prozradil úsměv. Podivný, pokřivený smích, který se ozýval všude kolem pokaždé, když se dělo něco zlého. Když tekla krev, když někdo umíral. Přitom vypadal tak hezky, všem se líbil. Vždy dokonale upravený, v práci oblíbený. Jen měl zvláštního koníčka. Kousek od domu, kde večeřel se svojí rodinou, měl zavřené vždy nějaké oběti. Budoucí oběti. Ještě si musí promyslet, co s nimi udělá. Měl bohatou fantazii. Bohužel. Jakoby se přede mnou odehrávaly ty nejhroznější noční můry, když jsem objevil první mělký hrob.

Ne, to není žádný hororový film. Ale krutá realita z jednoho dokumentu. Musel jsem se chvilku dívat do tmy a pustit si muziku, která by se ke všemu hodila. Má volba byla jasná. Novinka démonů HEADS FOR THE DEAD už nějaký čas čekala na poslech. Šetřil jsem si je pro podobné zvláštní příležitosti. Až budou mraky nízko a vzduch bude cítit zkaženou krví. Zapnul jsem play a znovu se ocitl mezi přízraky. Ulice byly temné a nože hodně ostré.

Základem tvorby téhle smečky je klasický, surový a syrový death metal s thrash punkovým přístupem. Letos přicházejí opět se skvělým, mrazivým a prašivým zvukem, i obalem (motiv musím mít na tričku!), který vás rovnou vtáhne do nečisté hry. Mě osobně ale nejvíc baví atmosféra, kterou dokáží pánové vytvořit. Je doslova podmanivá. Jako bych se opravdu díval na nějaký bolestivý dokument o lidech, kteří v sobě mají zlo. Z obrazovky, i z reproduktorů na mě sahají kostnaté ruce dávno zemřelých. Slyším jejich nářek, užívám si každý riff, každou notu. Jsem přímo účastníkem děje, stojím ve stínu a sleduji, jak k zemi padá další podříznutá oběť. Songy jsou velmi dobře napsány, mají v sobě drive a pradávnou smrtící sílu. Vášeň i prokletí. Temnou energii, která vzešla z těch nejděsivějších koutů podsvětí. Možná nevíme, kam se dostanou naše zkažené duše po smrti, ale rozhodně to nebude nic pěkného. Představte si své nejhroznější sny, kterých jste se báli jako děti. Na téhle desce budou znovu ve vaší hlavě. Milý chlápek ze sousedství, kterého měli všichni tolik rádi. Ten jeho úsměv, zkažená slova. Padlý kněz, klaun, co k smrti miluje legraci. Ne, tohle není jen obyčejný death metal. "The Great Conjuration" má v sobě něco navíc, co jej odlišuje od ostatních. Je přesnou definicí toho, co mám na tomhle stylu tolik rád. Jako mokvající stará rána, která opět bolí, pálí a žhne. Zhasněte všechna světla, vezměte pro jistotu do ruky nůž a pojďte se vydat spolu s kapelou na dlouhý krvavý výlet bez konce. Děsivý, magický, temný a mrazivý death metalový horor!

No, it's not a horror movie. But the harsh reality of a documentary. I had to stare into the darkness for a while and put on some music to go with it. My choice was clear. HEADS FOR THE DEAD's new demon music had been waiting to be heard for some time. I've been saving them for special occasions like this. When the clouds are low and the air smells of tainted blood. I turned on the play and once again found myself among the phantoms. The streets were dark and the knives very sharp.

The basis of this band is classic, raw and crude death metal with a thrash punk approach. This year they come again with a great, chilling and dusty sound, as well as a cover (I must have the motif on my t-shirt!), which draws you straight into the dirty game. But what I personally enjoy the most is the atmosphere the gentlemen can create. It is literally captivating. It's like I'm really watching a painful documentary about people who have evil in them. The bony hands of the long-dead reach out to me from the screen and the speakers. I hear their cries, I enjoy every riff, every note. I'm a participant in the action, standing in the shadows, watching as another victim falls to the ground. The songs are very well written, they have drive and an ancient killing power. A passion and a curse. A dark energy that comes from the most terrifying corners of the underworld. We may not know where our corrupted souls will go after death, but it certainly won't be pretty. Imagine your worst dreams, the ones you feared as a child. On this record, they'll be in your head again. The nice guy from the neighbourhood that everyone loved so much. His smile, his wicked words. The fallen priest, the clown who loves a joke to death. No, this isn't just any death metal. "The Great Conjuration" has something extra that sets it apart from the rest. It's the very definition of what I love so much about this style. It's like a swelling old wound that hurts, burns and glows again. Turn off all the lights, pick up a knife for good measure and come along with the band on a long bloody trip with no end in sight. Scary, magical, dark and chilling death metal horror!
