Pokaždé se těším, ale mám také obavy. Nikdy nevíte, co vás při exhumaci starých hrobů čeká. Někdy jenom smrdí zatuchlinou a pár kostí naskládaných v rakvi je jen slabým otiskem historie, ale mnohdy se začnou ozývat divné zvuky, maso smrdí sírou a lebka se směje v hrůzných rytmech. Tenhle případ nastává v momentech, když potkám nějakou dobrou novou kapelu. O texaských FLESHROT jsem slyšel poprvé v roce 2020, když vydali své první demo. Bylo dobré, ale trpělo horším zvukem.
Letos mě novinka "Unburied Corpse" doslova smetla z povrchu zemského. Divoké, prašivé riffy, dunivé bicí, hlas bestie. Co víc si může starý fanoušek smrtícího kovu a pohřbů do země vlastně přát? Myslím, že se album opravdu povedlo. Už po několika prvních setkáních mi vypálilo cejch přímo do mozku.
FLESHROT uctívají základy stylu, to je bez debat. Jsou slyšet odkazy na MASTER, DEATH, INCANTATION i MORBID ANGEL (určitě mě doplníte), ale o to tady ani nejde. Mě vždycky hlavně zajímalo, zda kapela hraje od srdce, myslí to vážně. Musí mít dobrý zničující a prašivý zvuk, morbidní obal a skladby v sobě musí mít hnilobu a špínu. Bez toho se v death metalu neobejdete. Je to svým způsobem dar a FLESHROT tohle všechno mají. To vám podepíšu vlastní krví. Jako bych se přehraboval ve staré rakvi z devadesátých let minulého století. Když zazní první riff, kosti se rozpadnou v prach. Vše obestře temnota a vy si můžete naplno užít pestrou paletu chmurných a nihilistických nálad. Podobné společné výlety na onen svět, směrem do pekla, jsou jasným důkazem toho, že se nahrávka opravdu povedla. "Unburied Corpse" žhne a pálí, zároveň je chladné a mrazivé. Možná jste byli také někdy účastníky povedené exhumace. Vždycky si představuji, co nebožtík kdysi zažil, jaký měl život, jakou smrt. Ta v provedení FLESHROT je návyková, je jako nějaká zlá choroba, která čeká na vaši sebemenší chybu. Troufám si tvrdit, že se tenhle zásek do plesnivé rakve vydařil. Kolem cesty leží zohavená těla našich předků. Asi také poslouchali podobné desky. Nedivím se, novinka je skvělá! Zadře se vám pod kůži, rozdrtí vás na malé kousky, shnijete u ní zaživa! Morbidní, prašivá, zkažená death metalová krev!

I always look forward to it, but I'm also worried. You never know what you're gonna find when you exhume old graves. Sometimes it just smells rotten and the few bones stacked in the coffin are a faint imprint of history, but often strange noises start to be heard, the flesh smells of sulphur and the skull laughs in horrible rhythms. This is the case when I meet a good new band. I first heard of Texas' FLESHROT in 2020 when they released their first demo. It was good, but suffered from a worse sound.
This year, the new release "Unburied Corpse" literally blew me away. Wild, dusty riffs, thunderous drums, the voice of the beast. What more could an old fan of death metal and burying himself in the ground really want? I think the album was really good. It burned a mark right into my brain after the first few sessions.
FLESHROT worship the basics of style, no doubt about it. You can hear references to MASTER, DEATH, INCANTATION and MORBID ANGEL (I'm sure you'll complete me), but that's not even the point here. I've always been mostly interested in whether a band plays from the heart, whether they mean it. It has to have a good devastating and dusty sound, morbid cover art and the songs have to have rot and filth in them. You can't do death metal without this. It's a gift in a way, and FLESHROT have all of that. I'll sign it with my own blood. It's like rummaging through an old coffin from the 1990s. When the first riff hits, the bones crumble into dust. Darkness envelops everything, and you can enjoy a variety of gloomy and nihilistic moods. Such joint excursions to the other world, towards hell, are a clear proof that the recording has really succeeded. "Unburied Corpse" glows and burns, it's cold and chilling at the same time. Perhaps you too have been a participant in a hilarious exhumation. I always imagine what the deceased once experienced, what kind of life they had, what kind of death. The one performed by FLESHROT is addictive, like some evil disease waiting for your slightest mistake. I dare say this hit on the moldy coffin was a success. Around the road lie the mutilated bodies of our ancestors. They probably listened to records like this too. I'm not surprised, the new stuff is great! It'll get under your skin, it'll crush you to pieces, it'll rot you alive! Morbid, dirty, wicked death metal blood!
