Probudím se do tmy. Už je čas, říkají. Otevřu dveře a pohltí mě vichřice. Uprostřed lesů, někde daleko na severu. Zde mají přízraky úplně jiný výraz. Děsivější, šílenější. Rozšklebené tváře se zkaženými zuby. Ještě nevíte, že vám za chvilku prokousnou hrdlo. Ještě pár momentů strachu a beznaděje. Všichni nakonec celý život čekáme na dámu s kosou. Stačí jen podat ruku. Zmizíš ve vánici a zbyde po tobě jen krvavá šmouha ve sněhu.

Poslouchám novou desku maniaků DARKENED a mám úplně stejné pocity. Skladby jsou opět napsány velmi uvěřitelně, syrově a surově. Kapela musela jít do studia s velkým nadšením, s touhou nahrát album, které zabíjí ve tmě. Myslím, že se jim to povedlo na výbornou. Navíc se celou deskou prolínají melancholické nálady. Je jako vítr ze severu, jako mráz, u kterého vám popraskají všechny kosti.

Novinka je cejchem, který vám někdo vypálí do kůže. Poslouchám nahrávku stále dokola a dávno už nejsem na tomhle světě. Toulám se spolu s DARKENED záhrobím, zdravím se se svými předky. Hudbu lze přirovnat k tomu, co hrají třeba takoví BOLT THROWER, MEMORIAM, HAIL OF BULLETS, DISMEMBER, GRAVE, UNLEASHED, SLUGATHOR. Samozřejmě, mé přirovnání berte jen jako odkaz, jinak mají tihle maniaci svůj vlastní a originální výraz. Doporučuji poslouchat v noci, když venku zuří vítr. Když se mraky dotýkají země a Smrt má rande se Satanem. "The Black Winter" má skvělý severský zvuk (Dan Swanö) a obal, který musí potěšit každého fanouška dlouhých stínů (autorem je mistr Juanjo Castellano). Songy jsou velmi úderné, mají v sobě spoustu nakumulované energie a tlaku. Zároveň jsou melodické a dobře se pamatují. Hrozně rád se toulám krajinou se sluchátky na uších, do kterých mi hraje tahle deska. Našlapuji tiše a užívám si pochmurnou atmosféru. Přízraky ožívají za každým rohem, rozmlouvají se mnou a potvrzují mi, že tohle album je vynikají po všech stránkách. Sešli se na něm muzikanti, kteří nejen, že perfektně rozumí svému řemeslu, ale také hrají pro radost. Pro radost ze smrti a temnoty. Mrazivý death metalový přízrak z onoho světa!

I'm listening to the new album from maniacs DARKENED and I feel the same way. The songs are again written in a very believable, raw and brutal way. The band must have gone into the studio with great enthusiasm, with the desire to record an album that kills in the dark. I think they did it perfectly. Moreover, melancholic moods permeate the whole album. It's like a wind from the north, like a frost that makes your bones crack.

The new one is a stamp that someone burns into your skin. I listen to the record over and over and I'm long gone from this world. I'm wandering with DARKENED through the beyond, saying hello to my ancestors. The music can be compared to the music played by BOLT THROWER, MEMORIAM, HAIL OF BULLETS, DISMEMBER, GRAVE, UNLEASHED, SLUGATHOR. Of course, take my comparison only as a reference, otherwise these maniacs have their own and original expression. I recommend listening at night when the wind is raging outside. When the clouds touch the earth and Death has a date with Satan. "The Black Winter" has a great Nordic sound (Dan Swanö) and a artwork that must please any fan of long shadows (by master Juanjo Castellano). The songs are very punchy, with a lot of accumulated energy and pressure. At the same time they are melodic and easy to remember. I really like to wander the countryside with headphones on my ears with this record playing. I'm pedaling quietly and enjoying the somber atmosphere. Phantoms come to life around every corner, talking to me and confirming to me that this album is a great in every aspect. It brings together musicians who not only understand their craft perfectly, but also play for fun. For the joy of death and darkness. A chilling death metal phantom from the other world!
