Občas se začne nad hřbitovem vznášet divná mlha. Má krvavý nádech a smrdí pachem pomalu se rozkládajících těl. Najednou je jedno, kdo byl za svého života zlý a ošklivý, kdo ubližoval jiným. Zbyl po nich jen otisk a bolest, která se obětem zadřela hluboko do mozku i vzpomínek. Přesto si myslím, že spravedlnost existuje. Nikdy nenaleznou klid, navěky se budou toulat mezi naším a oním světem. A když už se jim podaří přejít na druhou stranu, tak shoří jasným plamenem.
Někdy je opravdu zajímavé, jaké obrazy ve mě dokáže hudba probudit. Sedím a poslouchám a přede mnou se odehrává černobílý hororový film. Není divu, společnost mi tentokrát dělá nová kapela STATIC ABYSS. Smečka, jejíž oba členové jsou již dávno zapsáni do death metalových archívů - Chris Reifert (AUTOPSY, ABSCESS, ex DEATH, ex DOOMED) a Greg Wilkinson (AUTOPSY, DEATHGRAVE, BRAINNOIL, ex LAUDANUM). Vítejte na temné hranici mezi realitou a nočními můrami.
Kapela je věrna svým základům. Hlas i rukopis Chrise Reiferta je natolik nezaměnitelný, že si STATIC ABYSS budete ihned pamatovat. Vše je shnilé, mokvající, ušpiněné zkaženou krví. Nemrtví zde mají ve tvářích výrazy plné děsu a šílenství. Osobně si neskutečně užívám doomové pasáže, které jsou zahrány takovým způsobem, že mi doopravdy tuhne krev v žilách. Když jednou podáte ruku Smrti, díváte se pak na život i hudbu úplně jiným způsobem. "Labyrinth of Veins" vnímám velmi osobně, je mojí součástí. A hrozně rád se k desce stále vracím. Po formální stránce je vše ošetřeno na výbornou - zvuk (Greg Wilkinson - Engineering, Mixing, Mastering) chladí a pálí, je špinavý jako ruce sériového vraha. O obal se postaral Andrej Bartulović (All Things Rotten) a musím říct, že je velmi inspirativní. Navíc je ze songů cítit takové to pradávné nadšení pro muziku jako takovou, touhu se vyjádřit. Všechno tím pádem plyne se samozřejmostí, songy se velmi dobře poslouchají a nahrávka je pro mě spíše obřadem, než jen obyčejným setkáním. Je brzy ráno a mě probudily zvláštní zvuky. V noci se tu děly nechutné věci, ale teď už by měli nemrtví spát. Jenže jsou příliš neklidní. Oni také poslouchali "Labyrinth of Veins". Jednou mě zamotají do pavučin nebo spálí na popel. Než se tak ale stane, budu STATIC ABYSS stále poslouchat. Jedná se totiž o skvělou záležitost pro všechny živé i nemrtvé. Morbidní, chladná a temná exhumace death doom metalových hrobů!

Occasionally, a strange mist begins to hover over the cemetery. It has a bloody tinge and smells of decomposing bodies. Suddenly, it doesn't matter who was mean and ugly in their lifetime, who hurt others. All that's left is the imprint and the pain that has burrowed deep into the victims' brains and memories. Still, I think there is justice. They will never find peace, they will forever wander between this world and the next. And when they do make it to the other side, they will burn brightly.
Sometimes it's really interesting what images music can awaken in me. I'm sitting there listening to a black and white horror movie playing in front of me. Not surprisingly, I have the new band STATIC ABYSS to keep me company this time. A pack whose two members have long been written into death metal archives - Chris Reifert (AUTOPSY, ABSCESS, ex DEATH, ex DOOMED) and Greg Wilkinson (AUTOPSY, DEATHGRAVE, BRAINNOIL, ex LAUDANUM). Welcome to the dark border between reality and nightmares.
The band is true to its foundations. Chris Reifert's voice and signature are so unmistakable that you will remember STATIC ABYSS immediately. Everything is rotten, swollen, and stained with tainted blood. The undead here have expressions of horror and madness on their faces. I enjoy the doom passages, which are played in such a way that it makes my blood run cold. Once you shake Death's hand, you look at life and music in a completely different way. I feel "Labyrinth of Veins" very personally, it's a part of me. And I love coming back to the record. Formally, everything is handled to perfection - the sound (Greg Wilkinson - Engineering, Mixing, Mastering) is chilling and burning, it's as dirty as the hands of a serial killer. Andrej Bartulovic (All Things Rotten) took care of the cover artwork and I must say it's very inspiring. Moreover, you can feel that ancient enthusiasm for music as such, the desire to express oneself, in the songs. So everything flows with naturalness, the songs are very easy to listen to and the recording is more of a rite of passage for me than a simple encounter. It's early in the morning and I'm awakened by strange sounds. Nasty things happened last night, but now the undead should be asleep. But they're too restless. They were also listening to "Labyrinth of Veins". Someday I'll be tangled in cobwebs or burned to ashes. But until that happens, I'll still be listening to STATIC ABYSS. It's a great thing for all living and undead alike. Morbid, cold, and dark exhumation of death-doom metal graves!
