A few questions - interview with death metal band from Chile - ROTTEN TOMB.
Ave, can you introduce your band to our readers? – When was it founded and what style of music do you play etc.?
R: Hails, we are Rotten Tomb, a band from Iquique, a city northern Chile. The band was found in the middle 2016 by “C.“ & “Deathbringer“, from bands Excised and Hades, that doesn’t exist anymore. Our style is principally focused in a mix between American Death Metal & EU Death Metal, with some modern DM styles like Grave Miasma, Dead Congregation, Drawn and Quartered among some elses.
Where and under what conditions were you recording the new album? Who was in charge of sound, production and mastering?
R: Our album was recorded at Santiago, Chile. In renown DM6 Studios. All the record, mix and mastering was in charge of Pablo Clares. Death Division Rituals (DDR) is the main producer, who paid fo the studio and the second producer is Crypts Of Eternity, who’s paying fo the physical material alonside DDR.
How many copies were released and which medium was used for this new edition (CD, digital, vinyl, cassette)?
R: For now there are 300 12‘‘ vinyl copies, 500 CD copies (in production) and will be 111 copies in Tape (Chile only). Also considering the digital format, who’s unlimited.
Who is the author of the lyrics and how were they created and about what do the lyrics deal with?
R: All music, lyrics and concept are in charge of Deathbringer & C. In the lyrics we talk about anything that foresees something about Death, like physical and mental diseases, places, rituals, or death itself like an entity who’s worthy of fear and respect.
Who created the logo of the band, and who took care of the graphics and the website? What about you and social networks? Do you consider these things important?
R: The logo was made by a friend of us, Antonio Cabrera, who have a distro called Crucifigeretur Distro; the arts has been in charge of various artists depends of the release, but the people involved was: Daniel Jopia (Necropolis), Rodrigo Pereira (Eternal Cycle, Live For the Death), Alonso Wiltschek (Visions Of A Dismal Fate). Rotten Tomb just have two websites, Facebook & Bandcamp, which both C. & Deathbringer manages it. For the moment we think it’s enough social media for us.
Which label did you choose for releasing your album and why this label? Are you satisfied by how your label represents you and takés care about you?
R: Since a while now Death Division Rituals have been involve with us and our releases, begun with Eternal Cycle Of Death and untill now he has done a wonderful job. For our album he made more than just the physical production, since he paid the studio for us, so we are eternally greatful.
Which bands do you idolise and where do you get your inspiration?
R: Our main idea always be to make something like old Incantation, meanwhile we were composing we added some elements from other influences like Immolation, Dismember, Paradise Lost. Also from more actual bands like Grave Miasma, Dead Congregation, Venenum. We think that’s why we have our own seal like a band.
Did you send your record to some Labels - which are the labels? How was the response?
R: Untill now we are waiting for the copies of the band, we don't know the movement from the main labels, Death Division and Crypts Of Eternity. But as we and you might have seen on social media, the album has had an acceptance beyond our expectations.
How many gigs have you played? Which type of gigs do you prefer, whether it's (clubs or festivals) and which of your performances would you consider as the best?
R: We have planned a gig for may to play in Arica, a city near us. In july we have three: Iquique, Santiago and we finish at Total Death Over Mexico, in Mexico. This will be our first international gig, so we are very excited to show our Death Metal. About a preference, we can't answer since we have played just in small pubs and clubs, never in a festival like to compare and choose.
What about your plans for the future? What do you want to achieve with the band?
R: Our plans in short time are to finish the gigs planned this year, hoping we get some others invitations, and the meantime we’re going to begin to rehearsal our songs for the next album, that are already done in demo tapes. We’ve done 8 new songs and an intro. Our goal it’s to get known for all people we can and never stop doing Death Metal.
How and where can your fans contact you? Can you provide some contact information?
R: You can contact for interviews, gigs and our material to: rottentomb@gmail.com , also of the social media said before, Rottentombband on Facebook & Rotten Tomb on Bandcamp.
