A few questions - interview with death metal band from Italy - DEFECHATE.

Ave, can you introduce your band to our readers? – When was it founded and what style of music do you play etc.?
Luke - Ave, Defechate is a Death Metal Band born in late 2019, it has become mainly a studio project due to pandemic. We play Death Metal without asking ourselves the question of following certain streams or genere. Tat0 and Scurb, with the other musicians involved, confer their own influences mainly based on Old School Death Metal.
Where and under what conditions were you recording the new album? Who was in charge of sound, production and mastering?
Luke - As we said Defechate recorded songs in 2 different studios in Tuscany and Calabria cause of the pandemic; Unbounded was mixed and mastered at Mel1 Studios in Pisa under the direction of Tony Perish always following the provisions of the band.
How many copies were released and which medium was used for this new edition (CD, digital, vinyl, cassette)?
Luke - Unbounded was released on 28th Jan 2022 by Great Dane Records (France) in digipack format and digital on the main music platforms.
Who is the author of the lyrics and how were they created and about what do the lyrics deal with?
Luke - The Lyrics of most of the songs are written by Scurb but Giuseppe, as singer, discuss about the message Defechate wants to emerge from the song. Unbounded is not a concept album and the topics of the songs are against abuses, against hypocrisy or in sight to make evident some evil nature of mankind.
Who created the logo of the band, and who took care of the graphics and the website? What about you and social networks? Do you consider these things important?
Luke - The logo was created by me and refined by the artist that released Unbounded artwork: Sidjimbe Art. Defechate don’t have a social media manager, they consider music much important than the rest.
Which label did you choose for releasing your album and why this label? Are you satisfied by how your label represents you and takés care about you?
Tato - After the recording of the album, we sent promos to different labels, and among those that showed interest, and that we thank, we chose Great Dane Records for the good dial that proposed us, and for the professionalism and passion he has towards a certain genre and the old school. We are not sorry at all, is doing a great job of distribution for our Unbounded, and is always present.
Which bands do you idolise and where do you get your inspiration?
Tato - Idolizing I think is a big word, we have bands that we follow and that willy-nilly affect our compositions, but not to the point of becoming a photocopy, each of us has facets and styles that complement giving shape to a personal sound, definitely connected to the Death Metal. Let’s say that those who follow bands like Autopsy, Cannibal Corpse, Deicide, Entombed, Vomitory, Obituary ... will appreciate, and understand, better what we do.
Did you send your record to some Labels - which are the labels? How was the response?
Tato - As I said before we sent a promo to many labels, scattered all over the world, and to be our first full lenth, and second job after an ep, we had more offers than we expected. We do not make names, also because I do not remember them all, but we were also pleased to see that around there are still many serious labels that do their job properly, and people with real passion with which it is a pleasure to deal and know.
How many gigs have you played? Which type of gigs do you prefer, whether it's (clubs or festivals) and which of your performances would you consider as the best?
Tato - We Defechate have never done concerts, especially for a logistic issue, because we live very far from each other, but with our other projects we had the opportunity to do several live, in Italy and outside, both clubs and festivals. Personally I don’t know what I would prefer, clubs and festivals are different contexts but both exciting, when there is response with the spectators , and feeling with the band, no matter where you are playing.
What about your plans for the future? What do you want to achieve with the band?
Tato - We don’t have a purpose, we don’t have to and we don’t want to get anything, we just make music by our inspiration. We will certainly make other works, every time we think of a riff, or a theme to treat, a drum pattern, or a simple melody, and every time we want to vent our sentiment, our aim will be to concretize it in music
