Představa, že je na na jiné planetě inteligence, je velmi lákavá. Občas se k té představě upínáme jako k nějakému božstvu a bývala i častým tématem starých sci-fi knih, které jsem čítával přesně v době, kdy vyšla dánským veteránům DETEST v roce 1994 jediná dlouhohrající deska "Dorval". Jenže historie nám ukazuje, že všechno bude nakonec jinak. Žádná inteligence z vesmíru nás nikdy nezachrání. Pokud vůbec nějaká existuje, tak je hodně vzdálená. Navíc se jako lidstvo chováme poslední roky tak, že by byl zázrak, aby se s námi vůbec někdo bavil.
Spojení sci-fi a death metalu mám rád. Mám rád i dánské DETEST, kteří se po letech vrátili s novou deskou s příznačným názvem "We Will Get What We Deserve". Opět dostanete hrubozrnný, inteligentně složený smrtící kov s vysokým oktanovým číslem.
John Petersen se obklopil novými muzikanty, aby se vrátili silnější než dřív. Kapela, kterou jak v jejich začátcích tak i v současnosti přirovnávají k DEATH, OBITUARY, NOCTURNUS, povstala doslova z popela. Po letech nečinnosti a bojích s vlastními démony si můžeme užít opět prvotřídní death metal. Surový zvuk, riffy, které se vám zadřou pod kůži. Dočkáte se přímého úderu na solar plexus. Nenechte se ale mýlit. Návrat DETEST není rozhodně jen dnes tolik častou vzpomínkou na časy minulé. Kapela má stále co říct. Na starých, osvědčených základech jsou vystavěny nové, svým způsobem svěží a neotřelé kompozice. Nahrávka "We Will Get What We Deserve" je přesně tím druhem alba, nad kterým rád přemýšlím. Je nejen pro mě nastaveným zrcadlem. Možná, kdybych byl mladší, tak bych dnešní svět tak černě neviděl. Ono nakonec všechno dobře dopadne, příroda si vždy poradí sama a elegantně vše vyřeší. Otázkou je, kdo na spálené zemi jednou zůstane. Moc bych si přál, aby i po apokalypse éterem zněly takovéto desky. Mají v sobě totiž velkou dávku poctivosti, upřímnosti a ryzosti. Věcí, na které se dnes často zapomíná. Dívám se do černého vesmíru, poslouchám "We Will Get What We Deserve". Temný death metalový výlet do lidské mysli!
The idea that there is intelligence on another planet is very tempting. Sometimes we cling to that idea as a deity, and it used to be a common theme in old sci-fi books, which I read at the exact time when the only full-length album "Dorval" was released to Danish veterans DETEST in 1994. But history shows us that everything will be different in the end. No intelligence from space will ever save us. If there is one at all, it is very remote. Moreover, as humanity, we have been behaving in recent years in such a way that it would be a miracle for anyone to talk to us at all.
I like the combination of sci-fi and death metal. I also like the Danish DETEST, which returned years later with a new record with the distinctive title "We Will Get What We Deserve". Again, you get a coarse-grained, intelligently composed dead metal with a high-octane number.
John Petersen surrounded himself with new musicians to return stronger than before. The band, which both in their beginnings and today compares to DEATH, OBITUARY, NOCTURNUS, has literally risen from the ashes. After years of inactivity and struggles with our own demons, we can enjoy first-class death metal again. Raw sound, riffs that get stuck under your skin. You will receive a direct blow to the solar plexus. But don't get me wrong. The return of DETEST is certainly not such a frequent memory of times past. The band still has something to say. New, in a way fresh and unique compositions are built on old, proven foundations. "We Will Get What We Deserve" is exactly the kind of album I like to think about. It's not just a mirror for me. Maybe if I was younger, I wouldn't see today's world so black. In the end, everything turns out well, nature always manages itself and solves everything elegantly. The question is who will stay on the scorched earth one day. I would very much like such plates to sound even after the ether apocalypse. They have a great deal of honesty, sincerity and purity in them. Things that are often forgotten today. I look into black space, listening to "We Will Get What We Deserve". A dark death metal trip to the human mind!
