Asi už nikdy nezapomenu na to, jak jsem jel prázdným městem během pandemie. V ulicích se vznášel strach a lidé se zakrytými ústy kráčeli rychle a neustále se ohlíželi za sebe. Jakoby se vir ukrýval za rohem, číhal na ně a v nestřeženém okamžiku je napadl. V médiích se neustále dokola opakovaly počty mrtvých, člověk měl pocit, že je konec světa. Zavřeni na svých celách jsme nevěděli, kdo bude další na řadě. Nasaď si plynovou masku a pochoduj. Scénáře temných sci-fi příběhů se najednou odehrávaly přímo před námi.
Dostal jsem těžký úkol. Přišla mi na recenzi deska francouzských EMPYREAL VAULT, kteří svůj styl definují jako technický death core. O téhle odrůdě na našich stránkách příliš nepíšeme. Jsem starý pes a podobné muzice už tolik nerozumím, ale tahle deska se mi líbí. Oslovila mě hlavně svojí atmosférou, která je temná, chladná, šílená, jako byl a možná ještě bude svět kolem nás.
"Judgement" je apokalyptickou deskou ve stylu třeba takových WHITECHAPEL, CATTLE DECAPITATION, FIT FOR AN AUTOPSY, CEPHLAIC CARNAGE, ABORTED, OBSCURA, FALLUJAH, WITECHAPEL, RIVERS OF NIHIL. Surové nekompromisní pasáže střídají temné a studené melodie. Stojím sám uprostřed prázdného města a v ulicích se šíří strach. Všimli jste si, kolik máme každý přátel na sociálních sítích? A kolik těch lidí znáte doopravdy? Virtuální svět je pro mnohé příjemnější, než ten reálný, ošklivý a zlý. EMPYREAL VAULT mají velmi dobrý zvuk, o obalu také netřeba diskutovat. Nejsem specialista v oboru death core, ale jako nezaujatý pozorovatel si album užívám. Navíc se pánové dotýkají i progresivního technického death metalu. Velmi dobře se poslouchá, není zbytečně "uřvané", jako nahrávky některých kolegů. Vše se valí dopředu jako lavina, po skladbách zůstává jenom spálená země. Máme úžasné nové technologie, jen je někteří neumíme využít. Ano, i o tomhle podle mého nová deska těchto skvělých muzikantů je, o apokalypse, která se dávno odehrává v našich hlavách. Letos tu máme co do činění s perfektně odvedeným řemeslem i s hudbou, která je inteligentní, přemýšlivá a nalezneme v ní spoustu zajímavých momentů. A je úplně jedno, jak stylu, který EMPYREAL VAULT hrají, říkáte. Temný technický deathcore, který vás stáhne do hlubin!

I don't think I'll ever forget driving through an empty city during a pandemic. The streets were filled with fear and people walked fast with their mouths covered, constantly looking behind them. It was as if a virus was hiding around the corner, lying in wait to attack them at a moment's notice. The media kept repeating the death toll over and over again; one had the feeling that the world was ending. Locked in our cells, we didn't know who would be next. Put on a gas mask and march. Scenarios of dark sci-fi stories were suddenly playing out right in front of us.
I got a tough assignment. I received a record for review by French EMPYREAL VAULT, who define their style as technical death core. We don't write much about this variety on our website. I'm an old dog and I don't understand this kind of music that much anymore, but I like this record. It appealed to me mainly with its atmosphere, which is dark, cold, crazy, as the world around us was and maybe will be.
"Judgement" is an apocalyptic record in the style of such bands as WHITECHAPEL, CATTLE DECAPITATION, FIT FOR AN AUTOPSY, CEPHLAIC CARNAGE, ABORTED, OBSCURA, FALLUJAH, WITECHAPEL, RIVERS OF NIHIL. Raw, uncompromising passages alternate with dark and cold melodies. I'm standing alone in the middle of an empty city and fear is spreading in the streets. Have you noticed how many friends we all have on social media? And how many of those people do you really know? The virtual world is more pleasant for many than the real one, ugly and evil. EMPYREAL VAULT have a very good sound, and the packaging is also not to be discussed. I'm not a death core specialist, but as an unbiased observer I enjoy the album. Moreover, the gentlemen touch on progressive technical death metal. It's very easy to listen to, it's not unnecessarily "whiny" like some colleagues' records. Everything rolls forward like an avalanche, after the songs only scorched earth remains. We have amazing new technologies, some of us just don't know how to use them. Yes, that's what I think the new record by these great musicians is about, the apocalypse that has been going on in our heads for a long time. This time we are dealing with perfectly done craft and music that is intelligent, thoughtful and we can find many interesting moments in it. And it doesn't matter what you call the style EMPYREAL VAULT play. Dark technical deathcore that will take you to the depths!
