Nejdřív se ti zdá, že se dusíš, že se nemůžeš nadechnout. Ležíš někde hluboko pod zemí, ve sklepě, kde to smrdí zatuchlinou. Chvílemi nevíš, jestli je to jenom zlý sen, ale ostrá bolest ti dá vždy jasně a zřetelně na vědomí, že zažíváš pravá muka. Máš trošku naději, protože se ti povede utéct. Běžíš tmou, lesem. Ruce rozedrané od ostnů. Bosé nohy se začnou pomalu lepit k zemi. Panebože, co se děje? Vyděsíš se k smrti a také pomalu umíráš, zamotán v sítích.
Hodně podobné pocity mám i z novinky death doomové kapely/projektu THORN. Měl jsem tu čest již u první desky "The Encompassing Nothing" (2020 - odkaz na recenzi dole pod článkem) a opět se jedná o hrubou, syrovou hudbu, složenou opravdu v tom nejhlubším podzemí. Člověk má při poslechu chuť si rozdrásat obličej do krve. Alespoň tak vnímám album já. Je jako zlá noční můra, která se stane realitou.
Jako bych se toulal hustou mlhou někde na blatech. Kolem se převalují mrtvá nafouklá těla a všude se vznáší neskutečný puch rozkládajícího se masa. Bloudíš a časem tě dostihnou vlastní démoni. Líbí se mi zvuk, obal, ale hlavně kompozice skladeb, jejich jasný a zřetelný cíl. Album obsahuje velké množství zajímavých nápadů. Zpočátku jen tak pobublává v pozadí a časem dozraje ve zrůdu s ostrými zuby, která vám jde po krku. Lidská mysl je dosud neprobádaná a to, co se odehrává na "Crawling Worship", je plné beznaděje, nihilismu, šílenství, bolesti a smutku. THORN jsou kapelou Brennena Westermeyera, který je podepsán pod vším (zpívá také v neméně dobrých brutálních FLUIDS). Na novince se potkává starý, plesnivý death metal amerického střihu a doom metal. Deska je velmi vyvážená, opravdu skvěle se poslouchá. Je pro mě opravdovou reálnou noční můrou, vstupem do záhrobí, do vlastního nitra. Připomíná dlouho neléčenou ránu, která se znovu zanítí. Tepe a pálí, žhne. THORN mi nalili do krku rozžhavené železo, vypálili mi cejch do mozku. Jedná se o nahrávku, ke které se budu rád a často vracet. Death doom metal plný zoufalství a beznaděje! Skvěle!

At times you don't know if it's just a bad dream, but the sharp pain always lets you know loud and clear that you're in real torment. You have a little hope, because you'll be able to escape. You run through the dark, through the woods. Hands ragged with thorns. Your bare feet slowly start to stick to the ground. Oh, my God, what's happening? You're scared to death and you're slowly dying too, tangled in the webs.
I have very similar feelings about the new release from death doom band/project THORN. I already had the pleasure with the first album "The Encompassing Nothing" (2020 - link to the review below the article) and again it's raw, raw music, composed really in the deepest underground. You feel like tearing your face to blood while listening to it. At least that's how I perceive the album. It's like a bad nightmare come true.
I feel like I'm wandering through a thick fog on a moor somewhere. Dead, bloated bodies roll around and the unreal stench of decomposing flesh hovers everywhere. You wander and in time your own demons catch up with you. I like the sound, the cover, but most of all the composition of the songs, their clear and distinct goal. The album contains a lot of interesting ideas. At first it just bubbles in the background and eventually matures into a monster with sharp teeth that is after your neck. The human mind is still unexplored and what unfolds on "Crawling Worship" is full of hopelessness, nihilism, madness, pain and sadness. THORN are the band of Brennen Westermeyer, who is signed to everything (he also sings in the equally good brutal FLUIDS). On this new release, moldy old American-style death metal meets doom metal. The album is very balanced, really great to listen to. It is a real nightmare for me, an entrance to the beyond, to my own inner self. It's like a wound that hasn't healed for a long time and it's going to re-infect. It swells and burns, it glows. THORN poured red-hot iron down my throat, burned a brand into my brain. This is a record I will revisit often and gladly. Death doom metal full of despair and hopelessness! Great!
