Někdy, když navštívím jednu z hrobek v rohu našeho hřbitova, tak slýchávám tichý šepot. Nářek nemrtvých. Těch, kteří se navěky toulají mezi naším a oním světem. Spáchali za svého života něco hrozného a teď bloudí v nicotě. Občas vidím i jejich tváře. Šedivé, děsivé obličeje, kterým lezou z úst červi. Prokletí, ti poslouchají jenom dobrý, starý a prašivý death metal. Třeba ten, který hrají němečtí SOUL GRINDER. Kapela, která dokáže přesně svojí hudbou vyjádřit nejen ducha starých časů, ale i atmosféru ranního mlhavého hřbitova.
O těchto Němcích jsem psal již loni, když vydali svoji první dlouhohrající desku "Chronicles of Decay" (recenze dole pod článkem). Oceňoval jsem nejen řemeslnou zručnost, ale i schopnost napsat zajímavé motivy. Je brzy ráno a z hrobky v rohu hřbitova se ozývá praskání kostí. Přidávám volume a naplno se ponořím do hlubin.
"Lifeless Obsession" je pokračováním minulé nahrávky. Starým, plesnivým death metalem, u kterého praskají víka od rakví tlakem, tančí se na vlastních hrobech a pořádají se tajemné rituály pro vyvolávání nemrtvých. Toulám se podzemím již dlouhá léta a podobné desky jako je tato, si neskutečně užívám. Líbí se mi chlad, temnota, šílenství, pradávná síla, kterou z jednotlivých songů cítím. Riffy mají takovou tu patinu, kterou máme u kapel z devadesátých let tolik rádi. Vzorem SOUL GRINDER je jak melodičtější švédská škola, tak evropské smečky z death metalového pravěku. Přidány jsou vlastní nápady, surový, čitelný a ostrý zvuk. Novinku mě baví poslouchat stále dokola, pořád v ní objevuji nové pasáže. Jedná se samozřejmě o hluboký underground, nic pro zmlsané současné fanoušky, kteří uctívají úplně jiné modly. Album ocení všichni hledači pravdy v death metalu. Jakoby mě někdo proklel a pohřbil zaživa. "Lifeless Obsession" je jako ostrý nůž, který mi někdo bodl do břicha. Bolest mi, stejně jako hudba, zasáhla všechny vnitřnosti i mozek. Do hrobky s nápisem SOUL GRINDER se budu vždy rád vracet, hraje se v ní totiž prvotřídní old school death metal!

Sometimes when I visit one of the tombs in the corner of our cemetery, I hear a low whisper. The cries of the undead. Those who wander forever between our world and the other. They have committed something terrible in their lifetime and are now wandering in nothingness. Sometimes I see their faces. Gray, scary faces that worms crawl out of their mouths. Damn, they only listen to good, old and dusty death metal. For example, the one played by the German SOUL GRINDER. A band that can express with its music not only the spirit of old times, but also the atmosphere of a morning misty cemetery.
I wrote about these Germans last year, when they released their first full-length album "Chronicles of Decay" (review below the article). I appreciated not only the craftsmanship, but also the ability to write interesting motifs. It's early in the morning and there is a crackling bone from the tomb in the corner of the cemetery. I add volume and fully immerse myself in the depths.
"Lifeless Obsession" is a sequel to the last recording. Old, moldy death metal, with coffin lids cracking with pressure, dancing on their own graves and mysterious rituals are performed to summon the undead. I have been wandering underground for many years and I really enjoy similar boards like this. I like the cold, the darkness, the madness, the ancient power that I feel from individual songs. Riffs have the kind of patina that we like so much for bands from the nineties. The model of SOUL GRINDER is both a more melodic Swedish school and European packs from death metal prehistory. Own ideas, raw, readable and sharp sound are added. I enjoy listening to the news over and over again, I keep discovering new passages in it. This is, of course, a deep underground, nothing for the fucking current fans who worship completely different idols. The album will be appreciated by all truth seekers in death metal. It was as if someone had cursed me and buried me alive. "Lifeless Obsession" is like a sharp knife stabbed in the stomach. The pain, like the music, affected all my intestines and brain. I will always be happy to return to the tomb with the inscription SOUL GRINDER, because first-class old school death metal is played in it!
