Nikdy nezapomenu na ten pohled plný bolesti a strachu. Na nataženou ruku a naději, že přežije. Neustále se to opakuje. Stojíme nad propastí, ledový vítr bičuje naše tváře. Nerozumím slovům, přesto vím, o čem mluví. O bolesti, o nenávisti, o šílených temných věcech. Možná je to tak lepší, to ví jenom tma pod námi. Padá po zádech, asi abych viděl tvář. Poslední úsměv, celé tělo je zahaleno tmou. Ještě uvidím záblesk světla a pak už následuje jenom nekonečná nicota.
Probudím se a přemýšlím, co měl tenhle sen znamenat? Je jen výplodem fantazie? Odkazem minulosti? Musím si poslechnout nějakou muziku. Volím druhé dlouhohrající album kapely EYE OF PURGATORY. Smečky, pod níž jsou podepsáni zkušení muzikanti - Rogga Johansson (Paganizer, Revolting), Taylor Nordberg (Ribspreader), Jeramie Kling (Venom Inc.). Jak asi tušíte, jedná se o surový death metal okořeněný studenými melodiemi. Vítejte v hlubinách temnoty!
EYE OF PURGATORY ve své tvorbě kombinují klasický švédský death metal s finskou melancholií. Výsledkem je jedovatý, studený koktejl, který bude chutnat všem starým fanouškům těchto stylů. Tematicky se kapela nechala ovlivnit dílem H.P. Lovercrafta. Potud je vše v nejlepším pořádku. Problém vidím pouze v tom, že se Roggovi riffy ve všech jeho kapelách již hodně opakují. Nadprodukce jeho tvorbě škodí. Možná by to chtělo trošku zvolnit, spousta fanoušků nestíhá sledovat ani názvy skupin, ve kterých hraje. Nicméně, "The Lighthouse" není špatným albem. Melodie, i když již stokrát slyšené jinde, na mě stále fungují. Možná je to tím, že EYE OF PURGATORY jsou jako celek přeci jen trošku jiní, než ostatní Roggovy skupiny, projekty. Celým albem se jako jedovatý had proplétá již zmiňovaná melancholie. Songy tak získávají na zajímavosti a zároveň si zachovávají drtivý účinek. Je to takové album na pohodu, dát si pivo a nic moc neřešit. Pád do hlubin přijde sám od sebe. S dobrým zvukem, inspirativním obalem a spoustou nápadů. Někde mezi naším a oním světem musela vznikat deska "The Lighthouse". V močálech věčnosti, v propastech sebevrahů. Mrazivý death metal s mrtvolnou příchutí!

Will I wake up and wonder what this dream was supposed to mean? Is it just a figment of the imagination? A legacy of the past? I have to listen to some music. I am choosing the second full-length album of EYE OF PURGATORY. A band signed by experienced musicians - Rogga Johansson (Paganizer, Revolting), Taylor Nordberg (Ribspreader), Jeramie Kling (Venom Inc.). As you may have guessed, this is raw death metal spiced with cold melodies. Welcome to the depths of darkness!
EYE OF PURGATORY combines classic Swedish death metal with Finnish melancholy in their work. The result is a poisonous, cold cocktail that will appeal to all old fans of these styles. Thematically, the band was influenced by the work of H.P. Lovercraft. So far, everything is fine. I only have one problem that Rogg's riffs are repeated a lot in all his bands. Overproduction harms his work. Maybe he should slow down a bit, a lot of fans can't even follow all the names of the bands in which he plays. However, "The Lighthouse" is not a bad album. The melodies, although heard a hundred times elsewhere, still work for me. Maybe it's because EYE OF PURGATORY as a whole is a little different than Rogg's other bands, projects. The already mentioned melancholy is intertwined with the whole album like a venomous snake. The songs thus gain in interest and at the same time retain their overwhelming effect. It's such an album for relax, to have a beer and not solve anything much. The fall into the depths will come by itself. With good sound, inspiring cover and lots of ideas. Somewhere between our world and the other, the album "The Lighthouse" had to be made. In the swamps of eternity, in the abysses of suicide. Frosty death metal with a dead taste!
