A few questions - interview with death metal band from Denmark - TARDUS MORTEM.
Ave, can you introduce your band to our readers? – When was it founded and what style of music do you play etc.?
Hello!! We are Tardus Mortem from Glamsbjerg Denmark, the band was founded in 2015 but really came together in 2017 when the current line-up came together.
The style is dark (blackend) death metal, with the focus to create dark desolate death metal.
Where and under what conditions were you recording the new album? Who was in charge of sound, production and mastering?
We recorded the drums at akuja studios in odense, in a couple of days, then we proceeded to record the rest of the album in my bedroom. We couldn't afford to have it mixed and mastered so lasse took it upon himself to mix and master the album. the remaster was done by Marco Angioni at death island studios,
How many copies were released and which medium was used for this new edition (CD, digital, vinyl, cassette)?
Michael from emazipation productions is releasing 100 copies on vinyl ( the release date is 28.05.2021. remember to preorder it!) also he is releasing it on all digital platforms.
A side note. The album is released on tape through silver key records. you can get it through the band and the label.
Who is the author of the lyrics and how were they created and about what do the lyrics deal with?
The lyrics on “Engulfed in pestilent darkness” were created by Lasse and Dennis. both by writing together and writing separately. The lyrics depict the many forms a human can die. They are inspired by both films,books and real events. fx the track” Transcending The Human Form Through Ascending Transmorphism” which is about heaven's gate cult.
Who created the logo of the band, and who took care of the graphics and the website? What about you and social networks? Do you consider these things important?
The original logo was created by our former bass player Jonas back in 2016. But in 2018 we asked Anton from Black Tritonus to make it brutal which he did. we don't have a website, but we do have a facebook site. All of our graphics for this album was created by lasses girlfriend Andrea. Now most of our graphics are done by our label.
Which label did you choose for releasing your album and why this label? Are you satisfied by how your label represents you and takés care about you?
Michael from emanzipation productions contacted us one day and gave us a deal that we were very satisfied with. So we took the deal, we are very much pleased with the way emanzipation promotes and takes care of the band, it's a legendary label with people who care about the music.
Which bands do you idolise and where do you get your inspiration?
Back when we recorded ``Engulfed in pestilent darkness” the inspirations were most Incantation, Immolation, Spectral Voice, Taphos and such. now the range of inspiration is much wider.
Did you send your record to some Labels - which are the labels? How was the response?
We did have a deal with great dane records when we recorded Engulfed but that ended up falling apart. we released a promo tape of it ourself and it did good in our local scene.
How many gigs have you played? Which type of gigs do you prefer, whether it's (clubs or festivals) and which of your performances would you consider as the best?
We have done a bunch of gigs but the ones who stood out the most were in ungdomshuset i kbh and godset in kolding. I guess we prefer club gigs because our only festival gig were cut short.
What about your plans for the future? What do you want to achieve with the band?
For now its to get the next album out titled “armageddon” and then play as many shows we possibly can
