Zbraň s číslem 666 na boku. Zažila toho tolik, že by mohla vyprávět. Byla přímo v boji, uprostřed vřavy. Zabíjela nevinné. Ze strachu, ze msty, z legrace. Teď několik let odpočívala dole ve sklepě, aby byla znovu vyzvednuta a aby rozjitřila staré vzpomínky. Vzpomínky na válku, na tu starou děvku, která vás vždycky nakonec zničí a zabije. Mám rád válečný death metal. Mám rád kapely, které dokáží přenést ducha bojiště do své hudby. SHRAPNEL STORM patří mezi ně.
Letos útočí se svým druhým stejnojmenným albem a zůstává po nich jen spoušť a strach. Vidím před sebou zástupy žoldáků pochodujících na smrt. Pohltila mě temnota a chlad. Slyším výstřely a nářek raněných. Myslím si, že deska "Shrapnel Storm" se opravdu povedla.
SHRAPNEL STORM jsou staří válečníci, v jejichž tvorbě lze vystopovat odkazy BOLT THROWER, OBITUARY, DEICIDE, HAIL OF BULLETS. Jejich death metal je surový, jde až ke kořenům stylu. Líbí se mi, že si kapela na nic nehraje, jede si to svoje a zůstává po nich jen spálená země. Nejvíc asi připomíná rozjetý tank, jehož pancíř rozhodně neprostřelíte. Finové na to jdou tradičně, klasicky a dělají to velmi dobře. Skladby nepostrádají sílu a energii, je to hodně podobné, jako když vám dá do ruky někdo odjištěný granát. Také cítíte to napětí. A pak se rozlétnete na stovky kousků všude kolem. SHRAPNEL STORM jsou staří váleční death metaloví veteráni, kteří nám letos předkládají další řadu příběhů o smrti, o nekonečných bojích. Jako prostředek k tomu volí smrtící kov v jeho základní (a dle mého stále nejlepší) podobě. Nahrávku si nejvíc užívám po sledování různých dokumentů, je pro mě doplňkem, soundrackem, který rozhodně neomrzí. Není to nic nového, ani převratného, ale oceňuji nadšení, uvěřitelnost a odhodlání. Zbraň s číslem 666 na boku znovu zabíjí!

This year, they attacked with their second album of the same name, leaving only a trigger and fear. I see crowds of mercenaries marching to their deaths. I was engulfed in darkness and coldness. I hear shots and the cries of the wounded. I think the album “Shrapnel Storm” really worked.
SHRAPNEL STORM are old warriors, in whose work one can trace the references BOLT THROWER, OBITUARY, DEICIDE, HAIL OF BULLETS. Their death metal is raw, going to the roots of the style. I like that the band doesn't pretend anything, it goes its own way and only the scorched earth remains after them. It probably resembles a running tank the most, whose armor you will definitely not shoot through. The Finns do it traditionally, classically and they do it very well. The songs don't lack strength and energy, it's a lot like giving someone a detonated grenade. You also feel the tension. And then you fly into hundreds of pieces all around. SHRAPNEL STORM are old war death metal veterans who are telling us this year another series of stories about death, about endless battles. As a means of doing so, he chooses deadly metal in its basic (and in my opinion still best) form. I enjoy the recording the most after watching various documentaries, it is an accessory for me, a soundtrack that will definitely not get bored. It's nothing new or groundbreaking, but I appreciate the enthusiasm, the credibility and the determination. The gun with the number 666 on the side kills again!
