Určitě už jste zažili situaci, kdy řešíte nějaký zapeklitý případ a nemůžete mu přijít na kloub. Dlouhé hodiny přemýšlíte, zkoušíte různé cesty, konzultujete vše s kolegy a nakonec vyčerpáni jdete raději domů. Všechno vám vrtá hlavou, myšlenky se převalují v mozku jako kus žhavého železa. Nemůžete spát, neustále se budíte, aby se vám nakonec zdála zlá noční můra. Rozhřešení najdete ráno náhodou, když jdete městem a na uších máte dobrou muziku. Třeba mě osobně se podobný případ stal s novinkou amerických ODIOUS MORTEM.

Ti hrají složitou, technicky náročnou hudbu, postavenou na základech death metalu. Vydávají se do neprobádaných zákoutí, snaží se přetavit svůj talent ve smršť riffů a melodií. Zároveň se pokouší vás přikovat k reproduktorům a narvat vám pod tlakem svoji novinku "Synesthesia" do hlavy. Jsou jako rovnice o několika neznámých, jejíž řešení si necháte dlouhou dobu otevřené.

"Synesthesia" je albem, které mi oproti minulým deskám připadá více otevřené, hravé, pestré. Ubyla brutalita, přibylo různých pečlivě vystavěných a vznešených ploch. Kapela si dala pozor na to, aby vše velmi dobře znělo - zvuk je moderní, čitelný a hlasitý (Engineered by Jon Green, mixed and mastered by Richard Houghten). Deska je opatřena zajímavým obalem od Adama Friedmana, který je dle mého názoru takový zvláštní. Každopádně si jej pamatuji a k prezentované hudbě sedí perfektně. ODIOUS MORTEM v některých momentech popustili opravdu uzdu své fantazii a určité pasáže jsou možná až moc rozvláčné a dlouhé. Pro mě osobně se nejvíc osvědčil postup, kdy jsem album poslouchal spíše jako kulisu, než že se bych se na něj vyloženě soustředil. To nic ale nemění na tom, že se jedná o velmi dobře zahraný technický death metal s přidanou hodnotou navíc. Přesný, precizní, zběsilý, maniakální. Občas se sice ztrácím, ale jinak jsem spokojen. Extrémní smrtící rovnice s krvavým výsledkem!

They play complex, technically demanding music, built on the basis of death metal. They embark on unexplored corners, trying to transform their talent into a whirlwind of riffs and melodies. At the same time, they are trying to clip on you to the speakers and push their new album "Synesthesia" into your head under pressure. They are like an equation of several unknowns, whose solutions you keep open for a long time.

"Synesthesia" is an album that seems to be more open, playful, and diverse compared to previous albums. The degree of brutality decreased, and various carefully built and majestic parts were added. The band made sure for everything to sound good - the sound is modern, readable and loud (Engineered by Jon Green, mixed and mastered by Richard Houghten). The album is equipped with interesting cover art by Adam Friedman but it seems to be a little bit strange, in my opinion. Anyway, I remember it and it fits perfectly with the presented music. At some moments, ODIOUS MORTEM really gave rein of their imagination, and certain passages may be too long and extensive. For me personally, the best approach for listening to this album was listening to it as a background rather than focusing on it. But it doesn't change the fact that it is a very well-played technical death metal with added value. Accurate, precise, furious, and manic. Sometimes I get lost, but otherwise, I'm satisfied. Extreme deadly equation with the bloody outcome!
