Když jsem ji potkal poprvé, zděsil jsem se. Připomínala nějakou bájnou zrůdu, pokrytou boláky. Naříkající a vyděšenou. Hnila v podzemní kobce několik let a už dávno ztratila pojem o čase. Přesekl jsem řetěz, kterým byla připoutána ke zdi a dal jí svobodu. Přesto se ještě dlouhou dobu bála stínů. Zemřela zaživa, vytratily se z ní poslední zbytky energie. Prokletá a odsouzená do nejkrutějšího vězení tu hladověla a měla činit pokání. Opak byl pravdou, jen se utvrdila ve své zvrácené víře.
Když jsem si novou desku COFFIN CURSE z Chile pustil poprvé, tak mi ihned úvodní příběh naskočil v hlavě. Album je obestřeno stejnou temnotou a nenávistí. Cítím z něj chlad, rouhání, podobně nepříjemnou temnotu a oddanost záhrobí. Pánové hrají klasický, tradiční death metal americké školy. Vítejte ve starých katakombách.
"Ceased to Be" je hodně syrovým albem ve stylu starých MORBID ANGEL, MONSTROSITY, SEPULTURY, POSSESSED. COFFIN CURSE jsou samozřejmě ovlivněni i dalšími kapelami a nehrají nic objevného, ale zároveň si zachovávají vlastní rukopis. Pro mě, jako pro death metalistu poslouchajícího tento styl od devadesátých let je album velmi chutnou krmí. Kousky zkaženého masa jsou mi podávány s nadhledem a samozřejmostí starých mistrů. Zvuk i obal jsou také v nejlepším pořádku. Pokud se jako já rádi a často procházíte hlubokým undergroundem a vyhledáváte ty nejtemnější zákoutí, mohli byste být také spokojeni. Album má v sobě navíc těžko popsatelnou jiskru, feeling, hnilobnou přitažlivost. Až mě jednou za mé rouhání odsoudí k dlouhým letům žaláře a začnu se rozpadat v prach, pouštějte mi i nadále "Ceased to Be". Usnadní mi přechod na druhou stranu. Dívám se do tváře samotné Smrti. Usmívá se. Tahle nahrávka se opravdu povedla! Deska ze staré death metalové školy, která vás utopí v řece zkažené krve!

"Ceased to Be" is a very brutal album in the style of old MORBID ANGEL, MONSTROSITY, SEPULTURA, POSSESSED. Of course, COFFIN CURSE are influenced by other bands and they don't play anything new, but at the same time, they retain their own handwriting. For me, as a death metalist who has been listening to this style since the 1990s, the album is very tasty. Pieces of spoiled meat are served to me with a certainty of the old masters. The sound and the cover art are also great. If you like to walk through the underground looking for the darkest nooks, you could also be satisfied like me. The album also possesses a hard-to-describe spark, feeling, rotting attraction. Once I will be sentenced to long-years prison for my blasphemy and I start to crumble into dust, continue with playing the "Ceased to Be" to my ears. It will make it easier for me to move to the other side. I look into the face of Death itself. She smiles. This record is really succeeded! A record from an old death metal school that drowns you in a river of spoiled blood!
