A few questions – interview with death/grind metal band PROLAPSED.
Ave, can you introduce your band to our readers? – When was it founded and what style of music do you play , etc.?
Hi Jakub. The band Prolapsed was found in 2015. At the end of 2014, the band Desperate Times, in which we played together with Vojta (guitar) and Pavel (drums) ended. We don´t want to play Metalcore again. We wanted to play death metal with grindcore elements. So at the beginning of 2015 we started with first rehearsals and the first song (Stairing Eyes) was composed. We like it so we decided to continue composing. Since then, we have been playing death / grind and now we have almost 20 songs. For the first two years we played only with two guitars, two vocals and drums. In the middle of 2017 we started play with Ďuri (bass) who is already trying some backing vocals. Now we are playing four: Roman (guitar, vocals), Vojta (guitar, vocals), Ďuri (bassguitar, backing vocal) and Pavel (drums).
Where and under what conditions were you recording the new album? Who was in charge of sound, production and mastering?
We recorded the album at the end of 2016 in Davos Records with Otyn (Hellyum, ex Pigsty, ex Melancholy Pessimism, ...). Otyn made complete sound of album Sexual Assaults - recording, mixing and mastering.
How many copies were released and which medium was used for this new edition (CD, digital, vinyl, cassette)?
Album Sexual Assaults was released in 500 copies (CD). It is also possible to buy it as digital on Bandcamp and soon should it be on Spotify, Apple music, Deezer, etc.
Who is the author of the lyrics and how were they created and about what do the lyrics deal with?
We do not have some certain style of texts that we would be directing to. Most texts are a mix of anti-Christian, morbid and pervers things. We like fun and exaggeration, so don´t try there any depth. The lyrics are composed by myself and Vojta, and mostly they come after a few beers in pub or rehearsal room.
Who created the logo of the band, and who took care of the graphics and the website? What about you and social networks? Do you consider these things important?
The band's logo was created by Vaizal Bahari, who made the logo for many bands around the world.(https://www.facebook.com/Vaizal-Rotten-Art-534317893290294/) . Graphics for album Sexual Assaults were made by our friend Honza Šafránek. We do not have websites yet, but we want to make some this year.
Without social networks, it is almost impossible to do music nowadays. I think that for new band it is the easiest way how to get between people and how to present yourself. Not everyone has the luck (or the bad luck) to see us somewhere live or get our music in a different way. So we definitely think it is really important.
Which label did you choose for releasing your album and why this label? Are you satisfied by how your label represents you and takés care about you?
We released the album under Immmortal Souls Productions. Actually it was quite a coincidence why we are released it under this label. When we were looking for a label I met with Juro (ISP, Slovak Metal Army) at the Benighted Concert, which we organized in Bratislava. I told him that we are recorded some material with Prolapsed and I sent him some songs. A few days later, we agreed release it under ISP and on February 22, our album was released. We are really satisfied with our cooperation. Our album is distributed not only inCzech Republic and Slovakia, but also abroad via ISP.
Which bands do you idolise and where do you get your inspiration?
If it could be summarized in a few sentences, it would be super (haha). Anyway, we all are listening death metal and grindcore. If I should tell you at least some bands, it can be bands such as Deicide, Entombed, Cryptopsy, Dying Fetus, Asphyx, Cannibal Corpse, Carcass, Grave, Obituary and many more. From our domestic bands we definitely like Fleshless, Melancholy Pessimism, Tortharry, Krabathor and others.
Did you send your record to some Labels - which are the labels? How was the response?
Actually, we did not. We agreed with Immortal Souls Productions for the first time.
How many gigs have you played? Which type of gigs do you prefer, whether it's (clubs or festivals) and which of your performances would you consider as the best?
We've got about twenty concerts and lots of others ahead of us (hopefully). I can not to tell where we prefer to play. Every single event has its own magic and we enjoy every single action. Although we like to play in our home city in Hlinsko, where we organize festival called Pořezanej Ksicht. This year we have 3rd year of this festival (https://www.facebook.com/events/840973802771918/).
What about your plans for the future? What do you want to achieve with the band?
Well, because this September we are going to record a new album in studio, we try to concentrate on it. So you can definitely look forward to a new album (we promise it will be more brutal andfaster), which will come out in the beginning of the year 2019. We have already planned several events for the rest of the year 2018 and for 2019. We would like to play at least 20-30 events a year in the Czech Republic and abroad + of course we want to create new songs. We want to make music which will be great not only for us but for every metal heart.
