A few questions – interview with thrash metal band from Chile - DEMONIAC.
Ave, can you introduce your band to our readers? – When was it founded and what style of music do you play , etc.?
We are Demoniac from Chile, formed in the year 2011 and we play Thrash Metal. So far we have a demo and an EP, and we are soon to release our first full lenght through Witches Brew Records.
Where and under what conditions were you recording the new album? Who was in charge of sound, production and mastering?
The album was recorded at Fabián Valdés’s Studio, an old friend of the band. The process of recording, mixing and mastering was quite long, but this helped us to give it enough time for every detail. Regarding the sound and the final master, it was Fabián who realized this task along us, since he is from our town and we could meet easily to work on the album. This allowed us to find the sound we were looking to and take the time we needed to do so.
How many copies were released and which medium was used for this new edition (CD, digital, vinyl, cassette)?
There will be 750 copies of our album “Intemperance“ in CD format, and there’s the possibility to be released in tape or vinyl.
Who is the author of the lyrics and how were they created and about what do the lyrics deal with?
The way we work in Demoniac is quite peculiar. First, I (V. Pereira) write the lyrics without thinking of an specific track, then J. Ortiz is the one that adapts and modifies them for each song. The process of creation of these lyrics is always continous, and we keep compiling ideas or themes during a long time before finally writing them. Regarding the lyrical topics, they are quite varied, but we use to talk about the miserable existence of man. Previously we talked about hell or demons, but we have grown out of it.
Who created the logo of the band, and who took care of the graphics and the website? What about you and social networks? Do you consider these things important?
The logo was created by our guitarrist and vocalist J. Ortiz, layout and graphics are made by our friend Christopher Falk (Deathsvn) and the cover artwork was done by Francisco Visceral. We do not consider social networks important. Demoniac do not have a facebook page, the closer to it is a Bandcamp page, altough it’s expendable. If anyone might need information regarding us, you can either find it in Metal Archives or sending us a mail (demoniac_thrash@hotmail.com).
Which label did you choose for releasing your album and why this label? Are you satisfied by how your label represents you and takés care about you?
We chose Witches Brew because we have the perception that it’s a profesional label and they work the right way. Also, we have received great comments about it from other bands (Acero Letal), so we really never hesitated to work with Witches Brew. We are satisfied with the work realized by the label so far, and we are really thankful for the patience they have had with us.
Which bands do you idolise and where do you get your inspiration?
Idolize might sound a bit exaggerated. Our musical tastes are varied regarding bands and genres, some bands we like are classics like Sepultura or Slayer, and other current ones like Antichrist (Sweden) or Ripper (Chile), and many more in the underground. Our inspiration comes greatly from our country underground bands and it’s scene, which every day vomits great bands of real metal, although there’s no specific source of inspiration.
Did you send your record to some Labels - which are the labels? How was the response?
At the time writing this answers the album still hasn’t been released, so we haven’t been able to send it to labels. In Chile there’s people who have heard the album or seen it live, and it has helped us to create expectation about it, and we have received great feedback. We sent some copies of our last demo to some labels and got great feedback as well, and it was even released in China by Thanatology Productions, which helped us to get to Witches Brew.
How many gigs have you played? Which type of gigs do you prefer, whether it's (clubs or festivals) and which of your performances would you consider as the best?
We have played many times and in different parts of our country. Our favorite shows are the ones where our metal evokes violence and people lose control, wherever it is. We feel that every show we have is better than the last one, regarding both our performance and the reception from the audience.
What about your plans for the future? What do you want to achieve with the band?
While we just finished the work with our first LP, we already have songs for our future LP/EP. Although there’s still work to be done, we’ve never stoped composing. The next things to do are play with Violator in November and a couple of other upcoming gigs, we just want to play live and create more Thrash Metal, hoping to play in places where we haven’t played before.
How and where can your fans contact you? Can you provide some contact information?
Anyone that might want to contact us can do it through our e-mail: demoniac_thrash@hotmail.com
