Pokud byste dnes hledali mezi extrémními kapelami smečku, která má nejlépe našlápnuto se stát slavnější a slavnější, určitě byste museli zmínit americké GOATWHORE. Přiznám se, že jsem vynášení těchto šílenců do samotných pekel příliš nechápal. Vždyť hrají pořád dokola to samé, nepřinášejí nic nového a ještě jejich desky zní tak nějak podivně. Jenže pak jsem viděl skupinu naživo a spadla mi čelist. Tam, kde jsem se u nahrávek nudil, jsem měl co dělat, abych si pod pódiem neukroutil hlavu.

Jenže pak jsem viděl skupinu naživo a spadla mi čelist. Tam, kde jsem se u nahrávek nudil, jsem měl co dělat, abych si pod pódiem neukroutil hlavu.
GOATWHORE pokračují na novince tam, kde minule přestali. Ve výbušném koktejlu blacku, thrashe a death metalu, notně podpořenými dobrým zvukem i silou. "Vengeful Ascension" je pro mě albem, které dozrává postupně, pomalu. Spousta nápadů mi zůstala zpočátku ukryta pod vrstvou černého prachu. Novinka hnije pěkně odspoda a ne že ne! Jen chce čas, volume pořádně doprava a náladu na pořádný mosh-pit. Američané hrají postaru a přesto moderně, jsou temní a přesto energičtí. Jedná se o přesně ten druh masakru, který budete buď milovat nebo nenávidět. Nic mezi tím neexistuje. Osobně jsem spokojen tak na sedmdesát procent, v některých momentech by to chtělo přeci jen ještě trošku zabrat. Mladí fanoušci budou určitě nadšeni a my staří bastardi pokýváme spokojeně hlavou. Dobrá deska!

Nowadays, if you are looking for a band among all the extreme bands which is the best suited to become more and more famous, GOATWHORE from USA would definitely be one of the options. I have to admit that at first I did not get those guys and the great reviews. I thought to myself that they played still the same, they did not do anything new and their albums sounded quite strange to me. However, then I saw them live and my jaw dropped. On the places where I was bored on the album, I almost cracked my neck under the stage when they play it live.
GOATWHORE continue on their new album with what they did on the previous one. In the explosive cocktail black, thrash and death metal it is all well supported by good sound and strength. “Vengeful Ascension” for me is an album which slowly matures. There was a lot of ideas which were hidden from me in the beginning behind a layer of black dust. The new album moulds from the bottom! It just need some time, the highest volume and mood for a great mosh-pit. Those American play by the old way but at the same time they play modern music, they are dark and still energetic. This is the massacre which you will either love or hate. There is nothing between. Personally, I am satisfied at 70%. For me there needs to be more done on some passages. Young fans would be excited about it and us, the old bastards will still move our heads in satisfaction. Good record!
