Few questions – interview with INERT

Few questions – interview with INERT

Ave, can you introduce your band to our readers? – When was it founded and what style of music do you play , etc. ?

Ave!, we’re Inert, a two-man army split between Stockholm and Barcelona. The band was founded in 2015 and we play death metal.

Where and under what conditions were you recording the new album? Who was in charge of sound, production and mastering?

As an unsigned band we don’t have many resources so we tried to achieve the best quality possible with the means we had. We only recorded drums in a studio, all the rest was recorded at home: guitars, bass, and vocals. For the vocals we did authentic “guerilla recording”, building a vocal booth with cushions, and a pop filter with wire and stockings hahaha Afterwards, we edited everything by ourselves and then sent it to Grzegorz Kulawiak (Sinmix) for reamping guitars, mixing, and mastering.

How many copies were released and which medium was used for this new edition (CD, digital, vinyl, cassette)?

We have a digital release and also a physical release consisting only in 50 CD copies. We would love to have some vinyl copies as well because we’re music nerds, but our budget doesn’t allow it. Hopefully if there’s enough interest in our music we’ll release somehow in the future a bunch of vinyl copies.

Who is the author of the lyrics and how were they created and about what do the lyrics deal with ?

The lyrics are written by both of us. Usually Gustavo (singer/drummer) comes with a first draft and then we work together on that draft until we are happy with the result. Our songs deal with the decadence of modern society, religion, and death.

Who created the logo of the band, and who took care of the graphics and the website? What about you and social networks? Do you consider these things important?

Initially, we had a very rudimentary version of the logo. However, we found a graphical designer who wanted to do some band logos for fun, so we contacted him and he drew a much better version of it. Afterwards, we took that design, which was still unfinished, and modified it to our taste.

The cover of the EP was done by Dedy Badic. He is a very skilful artist who has worked for other death metal bands such as Entrails or Revel in Flesh. Regarding the rest of the artwork for the CD, we’ve done everything by ourselves.

About the website and social media, we take care of everything by ourselves too. We consider that social media is extremely important nowadays. Without social media you’re invisible.

Which label did you choose for releasing your album and why this label? Are you satisfied by how your label represents you and takés care about you?

The album has been completely auto-produced and auto-edited, no labels involved.

Which bands do you idolise and where do you get your inspiration?

We listen to a broad range of metal and rock. We think it’s good to have an open mind with regard to music. However, in Inert we could say that we mainly drink from classical 80s and 90s death metal bands such as Dismember, Grave, Morbid Angel, Edge of Sanity, and many more.

Our inspiration comes from our every day life. It can be something that happens to us, one song we listen, a book we read, etc. For example, the title of the EP and the song “Obliteration of the Self” was inspired by the book “1984”.

Did you send your record to some Labels - which are the labels? How was the response?

Yes, we have sent the record to some labels specialized in extreme music. We haven’t got any response so far.

How many gigs have you played? Which type of gigs do you prefer, whether it's (clubs or festivals) and which of your performances would you consider as the best?

We have not played a single gig so far. We don’t have any preference though, we like all kind of gigs! We love to play! However, in our case, as the members of the band live in different countries we cannot just go out one night and play a single gig in a club. The cost for that would be too high for us. If we ever play live with Inert, it will be something like a tour or some festivals.

What about your plans for the future? What do you want to achieve with the band?

No plans, just write, record and play some nasty death metal!

How and where can your fans contact you? Can you provide some contact information?

People can contact us at www.facebook.com/inertband or at inertband@gmail.com

Thanx for the interview

Thank you!
